Description
I’ve been using CoverMe – Second Phone Number for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that gives you a second private phone number to use for texting and calling. Pretty solid if you’re into private messaging and keeping your main number on the DL.
Here’s what you do – you can get a US or Canada number through the app and use it for all your secret texts and calls. And there’s also features like disappearing messages, encrypted chats, and a private vault to hide your personal stuff. Took me a while to figure some of it out but it’s pretty useful once you get the hang of it.
Look, if you’re big on privacy and keeping your main number private, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the UI can be a little clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if that’s what you’re looking for.
Editor Opinion
So here's my take on CoverMe - Second Phone Number. I've tested a bunch of private messaging and second number apps, and this one's pretty solid. The core features work well and it gives you a legit way to keep your main number private. The security and encryption stuff is a big plus too. On the downside, the app can be a little confusing to use at first and some of the extra features feel a bit gimmicky. But for keeping your personal contacts and conversations on the DL, this is one of the better options I've found.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Get a real second phone number to use
- Tons of privacy features like encrypted messages and a private vault
- Works well for keeping your main number hidden
- Free to use with optional paid features
Cons
- UI can be a little clunky and hard to navigate at first
- Some of the extra features feel a bit unnecessary
- Might be overkill if you just need basic private messaging
