Prefer previous app in terms of single comics filling page and swiping left/right to see the next one as opposed to one long scroll up and down. Needs to save your place like the old app, too. I like darker theme, but the prior app was much better in almost every other conceivable way...feels more than a little like fixing what sure didn't seem broken.
Reviews for Cyanide & Happiness
← Back to Cyanide & HappinessSucks having to pay for the app again as an old premium user. But there's an error with getting the discount about permissions. Oh and the app itself while seems pretty at first glance, is much of a downgrade. Comics are no longer grouped by month/year and its one long scroll list. I really don't see what was improved with this app and the old one didn't have a whole lot to begin with.
I don't have any social media apps other than two to speak to family and friends because I am fed up of the nonsense that people post. when I heard C&H made a app I was exited to see their comics and videos in one place and now I can share their videos and comics with my friends. I really do suggest you get this as it's hilarious content in one place and it's fun to pull out good comics when everyone is down.
love the app but latest update broke it. it keeps closing when I try to open. uninstalled and reinstalled no fix.
The app is a great concept, but it barely works when put Into practice. The videos cannot be watched on here at all, and whenever I used the random video feature while you could view the videos it would immediately stop playing as soon as I put the video in full screen or flipped the phone's orientation. The only thing that works without a hitch are the comics, and those are great. Videos are great too, it's just a shame that they can't be watched on the app as well.
I have them exactly where I want them. Loving the app. The only drawbacks (enough to lose a star) are: 1. I can't reverse the order of the comics. I'd love to start at the beggining again, but reading is top to bottom and I'm scrolling up, so it's a bit weird; and 2. the app doesn't save the spot where you stopped reading the comics. In other words, if I start at comic 1 and go up to 100 and close the app, when I open it again it opens in the latest comic, not the last you read.
Had the original app since release and felt it didn't needed changing. I do like the dark mode and access to shorts, but it's missing key features. Having access to months/years was incredibly fun to browse comics. And getting rid of the swipe feature for randomized comics is a misstep. I feel like the swipe is more user friendly than scrolling. 3/5.
Great jokes almost every day! There is also quite ingenious setting for times when you have a seizure. Highly recommended.
I had been thinking about deleting this app for a while, the newest round of pop up ads they've added sealed the deal for me. can't read 4 strips without getting a 15 second ad, and honestly this strip isn't good enough to justify that. Extra annoying considering I paid for the old app that this one replaced years ago
updated for modern spiff? you mean injecting ads into an app I paid for originally? that's disappointing. I get it, but still disappointed. Your update needs to restore purchases automatically.
Happily updating to say that the upgrade worked. I'm a bit disappointed that I had to purchase the app, even at a reduced cost. Though whatever, I'll take it. Nice to know an archive is coming, it feels necessary. I REALLY want to see the ability to swipe from one comic to the next without having to close the current comic, the same as you could swipe through comics on the legacy app or any gallery app. I'm a huge fan, I just think the app has a long way to go before it's a 5 star app.
Seems decent. Been a fan for years. I was, at first, unimpressed that I would have to pay for the premium again, but it turned out to be pennies. Frankly, these guys have been banging out free comics daily for years, they don't owe us a thing. The app could do with a few more features, hence the loss of a star, but the explosm lot have said they are in development, so I look forward to what's in store. Good work fellas.
I used to love the app. but recently I can only see 1 month worth of comics. where previously I could see all of them. Just confused as I liked to randomly scroll to a random month and read the comics or read the connected stories like new years. I was just wondering if this was intentional or not. excluding this to would be 5 stars
Trickier now to navigate through old comics than it used to be on a previous design. Would like to be able to access them Old→New as well as set a starting point rather than fiddling with the filter every time I change month.
every time it opens a pop-up ad, it closes out of the app. you can't scroll down more than 8 comics without opening a pop-up ad. this means that you can't look at anything earlier than 8 comics in the past before the app shuts itself down, making it unusable.
Just got the notification in the "legacy" app that I needed to upgrade to this one. I downloaded and tried to activate and got a "No activity found to handle event" error. Y'all really need to do better than this. I already bought the app once. I shouldn't have to buy it again when you drop support for the original version.
App is okay, but the button on it that's meant to view a random comic is absolutely not random. I just pressed it around 15 times and I saw two comics twice and one comic 3 times (and once it was the same comic twice in a row). Considering the thousands upon thousands of Cyanide & Happiness comics there are, this is almost impossible to have occurred due to random chance. Probably just going to uninstall this app and just use the website.
Love the app, with one exception. It's well organized, and it's great to have all the comics and shorts in one area. The one issue, which is definitely a first world problem, is that the app doesn't allow rotation. When the comics are long instead of tall, it's a hastle to view those because of having to zoom and scroll.
Have enjoyed these comics since 2006. Just got around to downloading the app. Can there be an option to move the "random comic" button to the bottom of the screen? With how big phones have gotten it's inconvenient to try and reach for the top of the screen or utilize the one handed mode (at least for Pixel 9 Pro XL) since that mode makes it inconvenient to see the entire comic.
The old app was better. Instead of a single page for each comic you now have to scroll up through them in a timeline view. This makes you look at the end of new comics first and slows down less powerful phones. The random function takes you to any comic but doesn't allow you to view the consecutive comics of it's time. You just have to keep hitting random. Seizure mode is still good.
