Can't tell for sure until the summer comes and I can see how the AC works, but the heat pump heating is great, assume cooling will be as well. Gentle, you barely notice it is on but it keeps the house comfortable. Had a problem with the first thermostat, it fluctuated wildly, they replaced it but the new one has similar issues. It would be better if it just used a standard thermostat, their thermostat is not good. 5 stars for the heat pump, 1 star for the thermostat, 3 stars overall.
Reviews for Daikin One Home
← Back to Daikin One HomeHow great it is to check things at home from anywhere in the world. I travel often, sometimes just down the street to the local store, but when I do, it's great to know that I can check temps at home and if I decide to delay my trip home I can always adjust the environment at home remotely. Geofencing is very cool but doesn't always work properly. Home automation in its most useful form.
The AC unit itself is compact, efficient, and quiet. The thermostat and this app are absolute junk and Daikin doesn't allow third party thermostats to work with the AC unit. It's like no one at Daikin ever used their own thermostat before selling it. You can't even bump the temp up or down one degree without a huge hassle. The software and the physical thermostat need to be designed from the ground up again and replacement units sent out to those unlucky enough to early adopt this AC unit.
Takes some getting used to, but works well enough. I wish I could set the temperature by typing in the numbers - dragging the bars one degree is too hard. I also wish I could schedule changes to the fan speed, instead of scheduling temperature changes only. Still, it does what I need it to do.
User interface isn't great. Back button doesn't do what it's supposed to. The home screen for the thermostat should let you adjust thr temp directly. You can't rearrange the thermostat order once you add it, so best to add the them from the top of the building down if you have multiple. When adjusting the temperature in the adjust menu, it doesn't override the schedule like it says it will. There's no way to give someone else access to the thermostats, you have to share accounts.
Worked at first. About a year after installing and using the app, it stopped connecting. It wants me to start over putting in my address and all, the it says it can't connect. App needs work!!!! EDIT... Had to uninstall app, reset password, and then everything worked again. Their last update essentially kicked me out of being able to control my HVAC system from the app.
3/26/2024 Daikin One worked flawlessly for about the first two full weeks after it was installed, but for at least three weeks now, it is off- line and can't be used, I've tried many times to reboot and reconnect to the internet, I keep getting a message, " Daikin One app has a bug, you can't use the app, until the Developer updates the app with a bug fix." When is that going to happen? I love controlling the thermostat from my phone, great if you would fix Bug. Thank You, Joe Mutch.
This app was working fine one day then it just stopped. I got a very quick notice saying my credentials had changed. I had not done anything to my system, at all. I tried to log back in to no avail. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled it and tried again. Nothing. Everything else on my wifi works just fine. The wall unit works just fine. The wifi on the wall unit match what I'm trying to enter on the app and it still won't work. Boooo!
Of course, the convenience of climate control using your phone is very appealing. However, I continue to do so instead of utilizing the programming feature because I am not happy with minimum range of four (4) degrees. My old STUPID programming thermostat had 3 degree range which I accepted because it was STUPID. I appreciate that I am probably expecting too much, but I would have hoped for something better than STUPID. Otherwise, I love the the Daikin variable speed HVAC it controls.
For the most part, this app works well. Currently there are two issues that I am experiencing. The first is that the georeferencing for switching the unit between "away" and "home" settings is not working correctly. The second is the air circulation (fan only) control is not working. This works fine from the thermostat, but not from within the app.
The app is not user friendly. I dislike how many screens I have to go through to be able to change the temperature. If I'm in the settings menu and tap the back button at the top of the menu, it takes me back to select which thermostat I want to control, not the last menu set. This app is a real disappointment. It feels like it was thrown together just to give some functionality to the HVAC system controls. The app gets two stars because without it, the whole system would really be unusable.
I like the look of the unit, it's got some navigation issues and bugs. There's a setting where the adjust is supposed to return to schedule after a set amount of time, but it just doesn't work. When using the back button, sometimes you'll be sent to the outer most window. Additionally, it's like they didn't plan this for consumers as the top most menu is a selection menu for which thermostat you want, well I've only got one and I'll never have more so this menu is just annoying.
I don't know if it's the app or the "smart one plus thermostat" that is the flaw in the system but I wish I didn't spend the money. The app won't actually control the air circulation fan. It looks like it does but it doesn't actually turn on. Had the installer confirm. The hysteresis loop is 1 degree Celsius, if I set the temp to 21.0 it continues heating until it reaches 21.9 but the thermostat only reads in 0.5 degree increments. And lets the cooling fall same. Daikin doesn't care. More...
Check how much data storage this app consumes. Mine grew to over 1GB before I caught and cleared it. It grows every single time you use the app. Submitted a support ticket, asked for multiple updates over 6 weeks and all I hear back is "we're waiting for a response from our app development team" but they never do anything. What are they storing on our devices and why won't they fix it? Nonexistent customer service.
If you like the Daikin One Thermostat, you will like the app - they are pretty much the same thing. If, however, you were expecting more of the thermostat or hoped to find missing features in the app, you're out of luck. There is no way to track usage - or even see which unit is running in a dual heating system. We have a heat pump with a backup furnace (it's Minnesota!), and we can't even see which unit is on or how much of each fuel we have used over time. This is a MAJOR disappointment.
Can't even log on. Tried to create an account, they send an email for a code. But now there is no where to enter the code. Tried to start over but app won't let me, just sends me in a circle. Need an account but can't create an account. HELP. What now? Update: tried phone number listed in other complaints. Asks if I'm 60 and when I say I'm not, hangs up. Great product Daikin!! UPDATE- waited 24 hours and open email on a 2nd device to get number. Crazy what you have go through just to use an app
Basic I used to have a nest tstat then put in a daikin mini split system. The system itself is very basic. I'm not a fan of the fact that there are no analytics at all. No reports for when or how long the system is running, no learning. Just turn on and off and that's pretty much it. What I'm not happy with is how inaccurate the tstat is for the ambient temp. I have a nest sensor and an analog thermometer and they both say the same thing but the tstat is at least 3-7 deg off.
Updated: In case you find yourself in the same situation, the trick was removing the device (thermostat) from the app, restart the thermostat, and re-add the device to the app. I'm back!! Worked great for the first 4 months, now cannot connect to the Daikin One Cloud. I've restarted everything, uninstalled & reinstalled the app, reset the password, you name it..
The thermostat is not easy to use. Heat will not turn on unless the room temperature falls 2 degrees below settings. When using air conditioning, the unit will run bringing the room temperature several degrees below the set point. Daikin only has a phone app, you can't control your thermostat from your laptop/desktop since there is not app available.
The App is annoying in that you have to do an authentication each time you open it (for a thermostat???) and then the actual device doesn't work properly, hence why your always opening the App to change the temperature. Awful. We had two Daikin heat pumps installed and are both terrible and controlled by a terrible App. Google reviews before you go down this route.
