Looked promising. However upon trying to connect with elm device throws a quick message "connected" and then a quick "loading parameters" and back to device selection screen. Can be repeated indefinitely :(
Reviews for DashOBD
← Back to DashOBDCannot get this app to connect to my Vgate iCar Pro bluetooth dongle using either Android Auto or my phone. Always states 'No Connection' error, even though another app (Car Scanner) works via bluetooth just fine. Disappointing.
No other app on Android currently allows you to see real-time OBD2 on the infotainment screen in Android Auto. This app has great potential, and although this version only shows numbers and not GUI gauges I hope the developer will be able to add visual gauges in the future
As a long-time user of TorquePro I've been hoping for a replacement that works on AA for years. This app isn't there yet but hats off to the developer, I'll be more than happy to buy it if in the future it can provide the same functionality in a nice graphical package! I'll sure be keeping an eye on this one.
For Suzuki Ignis some values are shown, but most are not working, with OBD2 BT adapter. eg fuel consumption. Would be nice to have a AA split screen option like Spotify, having some parameters just next to navigation.
Currently the only app that works with Android Auto on Version 14. I've not had any issues except it lacks guages, and so the text is hard to read while driving. I'd pay for it if it had guages.
I have the same challenge as many of the other reviewers. My Bluetooth OBDII dongle is working fine (works with Torque Pro), but when I select 'Start Display' in the app after launching the app in Android Auto, I get the error message that it cannot connect to my ODBII reader.
Fantastic work!!! Would love to give 5 stars if we can get widget style monitor rather than text display on Android AUTO. The way it's given in mobile app in the real time data section. Looking forward to the upgrade. All the best.
Disappointing. It puts 2 lines of text on the display, if you want more you need to pay. However I don't think a few lines of text make me happy for the price of the app. Would like some fancy meters om the dash.
Rudimentary. The info display screen is simple text. Unlike Torque Pro, there are no dials or gauges. Update, v2.5: Some saved basic settings. One hard coded gauge display, not helpful for an EV. Entered custom PIDs, none work. Still a no frills display, text only. Overall, this remains basic alpha-ware.
This is a great first iteration of an app that was needed for many drivers that like to monitor their vehicle's performance in real time. I'm hoping that more features will be included in future iterations, however this is a great first step. I've rated it at 4 stars because it is a bit buggy, and will freeze or crash every now and then, but Android app development is difficult to test with so many device models and Android versions. Keep up the great work! We need something like this!
Works with most popular obd dongles. Would be nice to have some gauge kinda looking type of temps on screen. For me, it shows as a list you scrolling down. But it does, in fact, work with android auto. Big plus! Purchased premium to support your work. And hope for updates)
if I could give it a zero Stars I would. No options available for free. I was excited that there was finally and odb2 just play program that supported Android Auto. However after obtaining a bluetooth-enabled ODB 2 device, I discovered that none of the options available for displaying data were enabled in the free version. Without being able to verify that it does work, I refuse to give the developer money.
This is a good app, However: I have paid to upgrade (from with the app), and it doesn't seem to give me much new! I was hoping it would allow me to delete some custom pids, but that still doesn't work. I also hoped I could change what shows on the real-time data, but again this isn't possible still. I wanted to add a custom pid to the real-time data.
I will give 5 stars. That's not for the app, because it probably doesn't deserve one. But I give full stars for working in AA without need AA cracking. This applies especially to Android 14, on which it is perhaps the only functional application for AA. The application still needs a lot of work and I believe that the developer will see it through to a successful conclusion. If I could have an opinion, it would rather be a round needle display, so please a rectangular progress bar with the value
I love what this is and only wish that torque could do this. However there's are some major issues. First, why can't we save the selected displayed items, having to redo it every time is VERY annoying. A save feature is desperately needed. Also a way to better view the data. But if we could just save the selected items after each cycle of use would be awesome.. please. Once this is done I'll go 5 stars but as of now.. 2 is really all it is worth.
Updated as now you can't use it while driving. Fine, does display obd data but is a little slow. My main issue is when scrolling through the parameters in the car, it keeps jumping back up to the trouble codes option. The app seems unsupported and the developer doesn't respond. Don't waste your money on premium as it adds very little.
I want to rate this higher, I really do. I normally use free versions of apps to ensure they can do what I want. But to lock the deletion AND modification on custom PIDs behind premium is downright annoying. I made an error on a custom PID but can't edit it now. I'm not going to waste money on something if I can't ensure the app does what I need. I also echo other reviews asking for more view options, as currently I have to scroll to see more than 3. Keep up the good work dev, maybe add alarms!
This app has potential which is why i gave it 3 stars. I would like to see the ability to display the real time data screen on the head unit instead of just the phone. I'm assuming here that the real time data screen can be edited in the premium version. It incorrectly identified the year of my truck. (By 8 years) Also it appears to only work with the ECU and no other modules PCM, RCM, ABS etc.
The app has future, and I hope the developer will continue to enhance it. First you need a quality ELM327 adapter, not the 7.99 version as they do not support all the required parameters that your car may have. I use ODBLink MX+ and it is the only adapter that can get all the proper parameters using CarScanner. The cheapo ones do not get all the parameters. This app will read the standard J1979 params, but not the car proprietary customs ones, i.e. Trans Temp etc. I need ATF on AA!
