Amazing app for communication and gaming, but there are plenty of bugs that cause calls to crash, audio glitches and causes calls to go silent. only way I've found that resolves the issues is hanging up and reconnecting to the call, but it's only a temporary fix until it crashes again within a couple minutes til the next crash. Bugs have been around for a while, would love to see a hotfix come soon. 5 / 5 if bugs were fixed but I give this a 2.5 rating as of the latest version on mobile.
Reviews for Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out
← Back to Discord - Talk, Play, Hang OutLately, it has been terrible. Quality has dropped. The more "updates" they make, the worse the app gets. Phone calls now drop randomly without any rhyme or reason. Sometimes it seems like I am still on a call, but then I get a notification that the person I'm supposedly on the call with is calling me because on their end, I am not in the call anymore. Getting out of Discord to go on other apps while on a video call causes your camera to freeze and/or the call drop, which wasn't an issue before.
This app is becoming virtually unusable. What the hell is up with this thing its impossible to connect a call (the other party can't hear me) without trying 10 times and open and closing it its been going on for weeks and thru two updates. It freezes up the other party sees me as having left when im still in the call. I'll see them as dropping out and wait then I'll get booted automatically after 3 minutes. It's been like this since the beginning of September.
I have been having the same disconnecting from voice calls, others can't hear me so I have to leave the call and come back to be heard again, ect. Mostly everyone else's complaints. It's frustrating to deal with being in calls anymore. All we get for help is a bot on here repeating the same thing as if we have the connection issue and "uninstall and reinstall or check your internet". Like no...it's not a issue on my end. Discord updated so much that this app isn't functional anymore on mobile.
These new updates have caused me to randomly disconnect from calls if I don't have Discord as the primary app open and running. If I use a different app while on call, or if I just set my phone down for a moment and it shuts off, I get disconnected from the call. I did not have these problems before. And it's only on Android (specifically samsung). Terrible. Edit: I tried every solution given. Nothing worked.
Discord has been pretty good for the most part. however, after an update near the beginning of February, the search function in private messages/chat groups has broken to the point of being almost completely unusable. you can search, but it's hard to read because of how the content glitches down the screen repeatedly. and you can't click on any messages in the results to go to the original message. they release these updates as "Stable" when they're not and don't even provide a way to rollback.
Discord is one of my primary communication apps. It used to work well, but I'm not sure what has happened. It seems with every single update, someone is dismantling the app piece by piece. Calls hanging up for no reason and no warning, freezing cameras, cameras not working at all, sudden audio loss, and more. Edit: I find it hilarious that they continue to recommend elementary solutions that I've already done instead of fixing the problem no other app has. "Turn it off and on again." What a joke
I swear, this program gets worse every month with bugs, crashes, and glitches. I don't even know how they think they can get away with charging a subscription when the thing doesn't event work most the time. I keep having it crash on my phone when I'm trying to browse channels or if my phone goes to sleep mode on the screen. God forbid I try to watch a stream. If you want to keep charging money for this program, fix it. Money isn't free.
I love discord, don't get me wrong, but ever since recently, the update that fixed 'so much,' also causes mobile at least in my case to randomly disconnect and reconnect only if I open the call, when it never happened as commonly like this and nothing wrong with my internet or anything to cause it. I'm not sure why, but even when I don't use any other apps while calling it will do it too?Hopefully, it just means the mobile app needs a little work.
I have used discord regularly for a few years now, never really had issues. However the last few weeks I have been having a lot of problems on mobile with connection issues. Messages don't send, or take hours to go through. Calls drop constantly, or connection buffers endlessly. I constantly have to force close and reopen to try to get through messages. I have restarted my phone, updated OS, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, at this point I'm giving up on mobile app until I'm told it works.
Discord is great for me to keep in touch with friends for things like online gaming, DnD, or just general idle chatter. While it handles PC streaming well enough, I've noticed that the Xbox integration has a lot of issues with displaying streams, refusing to connect or showing an endless loading circle for viewers. Screen sharing movies or emulated games also frequently freezes, making them hard to watch. I don't use these features enough to be a major issue, but it is frustrating nonetheless.
I've been using Discord since it's PC launch and I love it. The Android experience has been wild though. The app has a new weird bug every update. It'll freeze, lag, open in the wrong server or channel when you click a notification, animated stickers and emojis will freeze, video won't play, scrolling will break, notifications will be inconsistent. I was in the beta for a long time but that only made things worse. Please work on squashing these little bugs before you work on UI redesign!
You guys keep adding features no one wants but god forbid you make the mobile app function at all. It has more bugs than a termite infestation. I'm constantly opening up the app only to immediately close it because it's bugged out (can't view images, can't swipe, can't tap to type a message because it's not registering the bar is there to pull up keyboard, images will load but not correctly and missing parts of the image, etc). Desktop program is great though.
There must have been an update, because for about a month it's stopped working. Hundreds of others that I'm in a server with are having the same issues I'm having. It'll let us in, for about 2 minutes, then freezes our whole device and stops functioning. We've uninstalled and reinstalled and didn't fix nothing. The server holder doesn't even know what to do. Frustrating.
Just use it on your PC or laptop, it's much better there. Currently, it freezes and crashes every single time you switch focus for any period of time, it uses a CRAZY amount of memory, and has taken TEN PERCENT of my battery from when I started writing this review to now when just idling in a call on THE LOWEST BRIGHTNESS. Discord's troubleshooting suggestions also did not work, hence a lower review score. Worked great before the most recent update. But, hey, look, new benefits for Nitro!
So.. Discord is nice if you're wanting to talk to people and just merely chat , but overall the app on phone is difficult to navigate every now and then and it feels more centered towards PC users. I've struggled to take photos and be able to send them and then half of the time I can't even tell what's what in my photo roll because it will take me to OneDrive. I love Discord but there's a few things I think it could work on, not so many updates are needed for the app on mobile.
this app used to be great. Now it feels like a big push to frustrate you into paying them every month for the features you used to get for free. The limit of the file size you can send is TEN MEGABYTES. that's absurd. the 25 mb limit it used to have was difficult, but now you can barely send a photo. the app has always had COUNTLESS bugs and interferes with other functions like spotify and Bluetooth connection. I put up with it for years but this is the last straw. I can't even send an .m4a now!
discord has been great up till now but the call keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after the latest update. it happens multiple times in a call and it does it without warning. I'll be talking and not know I wasn't disconnected. it happens on wifi, on data, I thought it was my phone but nope it's just discord. please fix this because it's very annoying and the app sometimes just crashed as well. I'm on android btw. edit: I already reinstalled the app and restarted my phone it didn't fix it.
I have encountered so many glitches since the 2023 UI update, and it feels like so many more are popping up. Videos won't load. Clicking on a server icon in the keyboard to jump to that server's emojis works half the time. Profile won't save correctly. Can't send videos above 12-13mb? Some images are huge and cut in half. How it has 4.3 stars is a mystery to me. I would have hoped for better from an app that used to be my favorite.
Works pretty well for a chat app, however the mobile version of discord has been having issues in past month, including microphone not working on calls (aux, Bluetooth and built-in), calls self-ending, and other smaller things. Edit: as of 2025 there are still major issues, sometimes requiring you to leave and rejoin a call to hear each other, calls hanging up and then calling the person back automatically, along with being very resource intensive. Too many problems to justify.
