Its a good app, just wish it was a bit faster on log in, and biometric authentication. Also, I'm a new member and I do see that my first month statement is available but when I click on the statement, the app force closes. (Not that big of an issue due to the fact that my account has only been open for only a few days and there probably wasn't actually an available statement yet.) Great app though!
Reviews for Discover Mobile
← Back to Discover MobileBest credit card for tracking expenses. Spend Analyzer is the industry best. You can easily track 4 years of expenses by expense period, by category and by merchant, making searches easier than any of my other credit cards. Also, the 5% rewards becomes 6% and the 1% rewards becomes 1.2% by using rewards to buy gift cards for your favorite stores. Examples: I use $20 rewards to buy $25 gift cards at American Eagle, Bed Bath & Beyond, and elsewhere.
Discover is a great bank. I always had good experience with customer service, no hassle! but the app needs lots of work, it doesn't update the transaction on time. That said, when i use my Discover debit card at gas stations most can't read the card as a debit card even though i put my pin it reads it like a credit card so it charges a $1 dollar and takes 3 to 5 days for the money to be deducted. So I'm getting charged ever time i use it as if it was my first time at the same gas stations.
Easy to utilize, always accessible. Efficient, just how I like it. Edit: Hope yall see this cause I had no other way of reaching yall. I had a 1K credit balance, and couldn't buy a gift for my bois 21st. They bumped up my credit limit real quick and I was able to get what I wanted for him. Thank yall, you helped me a ton and I've already paid off the amount spent, so I'm trustworthy but broke lol
Process for the loan application was very easy to follow and when I had to move away from the app process they noticed and secured my info and timed me out to protect my security. I have to call in to finish my application because of the time out, but that won't be until tomorrow morning. That will a true test of the 5 star rating I feel they deserve up to this point. The interest rates are a bit high unless you have A-1 credit, but still lower than some credit cards and other loan agencies.
Overall, it's a great app. I can check my credit card balance, make payments, and see how much cash back I have. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the tagging feature to organize types of payments does not work well. You can't tag pending purchases. You can only tag purchases that have gone through. Also, I think there should be a better way to get to the tags. Right now to get to tags you have to go to more>highlighted features>swipe a few times.
Great service all around good card to have for everyday life and to manage a budget well. Depending on your score and avaliable line of credit you can really do just about anything with this card. We used to no end this month utilities family outings and running around. Stops at stores before work and only ran up about 28% of out limit and because we didn't use our bank account were able to pay it off. I don't recommend using it this way we were just pushing it at a time we were comfortable.
Can be very difficult to review your statement on mobile phone. Statement is set up in 30 day blocks. If you pay at different times other than suggested, this makes your statement very confusing. The older format was better. It was easier to add up your purchases to check your balance. I use the card less because of this confusion. Although, I do love there Fraud Protection, they have caught it nearly every time someone has tried to scam my card.
I lost my wallet at the mall a month ago- it showed up at security within a few hours, with nothing missing... Or so I thought. Someone had made copies of all my cards, and until they tried to make a bunch of 300-500$ purchases last week, I had no idea. I am SO thankful and impressed with Discover's Fraud Team and Algorithm!!! Not only did they catch and decline all those purchases, they also caught and stopped merchant verification from a number of places throughout the last two weeks!! 🥹🥰🫂
Trash app. Every Sunday it doesn't work especially in the night. Very often my money is not available at all that means it declines all transactions. I have a debit card and I can't use my own money. Many bugs in the app. If you transfer money from another bank, the Discover bank is going to use it for a long time before you'll see it on your account. Example: they received money transfer in May 21, and it'll be only available in the next month. Super bad app and terrible bank.
Great app, always using it as opposed to using my home computer to do any type of account look up, transaction search, etc. Oh and not to mention, my FICO score is readily available. I like the fact that I can freeze my account so as to not allow unapproved charges on my account, I think it's meant to be used if i lose my card. works for me either way.
I have the app for 2 months, so far so good! I can track everything I do with my Discover card from this app, I can freeze it when necessary, and make payments at my convenience. The only issue I had was viewing my fico scores for a week, but it was taking care of after I called customer service, who are all based in America and that's awesome!
Love the ease of the app, love the 5% cash back (wish it was on everything instead of select items), love the double your cash back at the end of the year. Things to improve on: It takes several days for a payment to post, I would like my credit limit to increase at 6 or 12 month intervals with good payment history. Overall, this is the card I use most.
I am SO happy with this mobile bank. I get rewards every month automatically on all purchases, free checks, no fees, easy to navigate app, & a stylish card. My only wish is that there was a way to deposit cash. That's it. I've never had an issue using the card anywhere at any time and all mobile transactions are effortless and instant. Hopefully one day there will be a way to deposit actual dollar bills. It'd be the best day ever.
Discover is probably one of the best first-time credit cards a person could get. At least for the student card, there are no yearly fees and the app is really easy to use. They also allow you to set up warnings so you know if you've spent too much, AND they offer really cheap identity theft protection. Discover is still my only credit card. The only thing I don't like is that they raise your credit line without asking first and it's a hassle to lower it again.
By far my favorite credit card app. I wish all credit card apps would change to this format. It's easy to use, gives you all the information up front, and has notifications for everything you could ask for. They notify you ahead of time that your payment is going to be due, how much is going to be due and how much your balance is. You can set a limit if you regularly use the card and it'll notify you if a purchase exceeds your limit and it's all in real time. No waiting for slow emails/texts.
Nice app! I love being able to access my credit card and checking account from the same application. However, I don't like having to enter two different login credentials, i.e. a PIN for credit card and a username and password for checking/ debit card. Maybe, I'm missing something, but is it a glitch that I have to verify myself with a six-digit code EVERY time I log-in to checking? FYI: I'm a new customer. [Update 4/2/21] Quick view doesn't work.
Works for its intended use, but can be deceiving when submitting payments. I've had a handful of payments decline because my Discover app homepage showed that my payment had cleared, processed and was all set, only to find that they hadn't even pulled the money yet. Definitely very inconvenient, which is counterproductive to the purpose of the app because at that point I'd rather just mail cash so I know it's actually been paid
Over all this app is great, and user friendly! My only issue is that it REQUIRES updating way to frequently, and each time it does, the app takes up more storage space on my device. For someone with limited storage, you'll have to find something to delete or uninstall on your device each time before you can update it, or else it won't work.
The credit card side of it is fine, but the banking side needs a bit of help. The widget doesn't show my bank balance, and the account balance texts i signed up for show me YESTERDAY'S balance. It's almost as if discover isn't actually the bank, and they're having to wait for a third party (the actual bank) to send them the information. Also, the app isn't the simplest to navigate. I'm fairly computer savvy, and it still takes me a bit to find what I'm looking for sometimes.
