As much as I want to use Doordash again, it's just too cumbersome to find a good restaurant on the platform and searching for a specific dish is a complete waste of time. It's nice that you can filter by rating, but there's no way to filter out grocery stores so that you just see restaurants and there's no sorting feature. Because of this and the extensive number of restaurants in the system, it makes finding what I'm looking for too time consuming, which ends up pushing me back to Uber Eats.
Reviews for DoorDash: Food, Grocery, More
← Back to DoorDash: Food, Grocery, MoreI just had an experience where my food wasn't delivered and they were supposed to issue a redelivery. The previous dasher who didn't deliver my food would still receive the tip if I didn't ask them to adjust it. There were ongoing issues with the redelivery so they canceled it. I asked them to credit my original payment back to me but they stated it was a credit as it used for the redelivery. And basically just said sorry. There was no acceptable solution. I don't know what's going on with them.
Updated review: This app is getting worse. Now it won't let you have the driver contact you or refund an item that you ordered if it's not available. The only option is for the merchant to substitute it with their suggestions, which won't work for me. I have food allergies, so I have to have the option of making my own substitution choices. Even without food allergies, the options should be up to the customer. Now it won't let me add another payment method to my account either.
Not sure if it's a glitch with a recent update, but for some reason I'm not getting notifications if the dasher messages me (and yes all alerts/notifications are set to "on" so I should get both a text and an app alert). I have to manually open the order and check the order details to see if I have a message. I use the app mainly for groceries and this makes it very difficult when something is out of stock or the dasher needs my attention in a timely manner.
i wrote a review almost 2 years ago and mentioned how they lie about merchant choosing to not accept special requests and 2 years later they still haven't corrected it. I'm so ready to leave this app and go to Uber eats but they are much more expensive unfortunately. I guess that's why door dash doesn't even care to fix such a small issue that could make a world of difference. sometimes you just want extra ketchup, damn. and yes I know you can call, but not all stores answer phone.
The delivery fee and "service fee" are astronomically high and you WILL NOT get refunded that cost when something goes wrong. If you order a 5 dollar item, the bill at the end will be somewhere around 10 bucks. Then, when you dont get your item, you get 5 bucks back and lose the 5 you spent on the delivery fee, service fee and tip.... robbery.
I have had issues with missing items after missing items after missing items. I've never had this issue with Ubereats, like, EVER. I've ordered through doordash maybe 4 times, and ALL times, I've had missing items. Should've stopped ordering after the 2nd time. I guess 4 times a charm. The only good thing I can say is that I was refunded 2 times. However, I shouldn't have items missing all the time. Account deactivated.
Support can do nothing to help you if you do run into an issue other than give 5 dollar credits. So while the app is generally decent, if a big does mess up your order you basically have no recourse. In my case, it was forcibly switching a pick up order to delivery (where delivery would be almost 2 hours as no one is in my area). Once it went through, there was no recourse to do anything and couldn't cancel unless I wanted to eat 99% of the cost
Posting this issue here because nothing ever gets done about it. I had multiple door dashers having issues with finding my unit, despite the clear instructions on the address. One recently dropped my order off at the wrong unit. Each report only replies with "The type of issue submitted doesn't qualify for a refund or credit. However, we're always working to improve your experience and will note this feedback." Then the process only repeats. Food is always late.
Not sure what happened but the app has gone downhill and become downright predatory. When you look at a restaurant, they will show you a very small delivery fee $2 or less. But after you make your order and get all the way to the checkout, it will go up to anywhere between $6 to $8! For one, that's already an egregious price, and secondly, that's a very nefarious practice. Bait and switch. If I were you, I'd go to Uber eats or somewhere else where they respect your wallet and don't play games.
constantly tells me that restaurants are closed when they actually aren't. I can compare apps with my friend, who has the same address set, and it will say closed on mine and open on theirs. it doesn't make any sense. it also tells me that for some restaurants, the delivery location is "too far" yet a restaurant right next door will deliver to me no problem. or the same restaurant will show up on another delivery app and delivers to my address with no issue.
Overpriced and not worth it . I've been subscribed to doordash for years and I spend something like 10-20k a year through the app. Over time, the service has deteriorated. Every issue they encounter, they push the burden and cost onto their customers. The one thing they had that kept me as a customer was their support when things go wrong. But now? Demanding photos? Adding layers to annoy the customer into not following through when they didn't receive the items they paid for? Nope, I'm done.
So I had a missing item that was $1.30. I reported it missing and was offered a refund of $1.02. If I hadn't caught it and talked to support I would have not been fully refunded. I texted it to a friend saying "thats weird" and they have had something similar occur. Keep an eye out on the price of the items you need refunded and the refund they offer you cause that discrepancy should have never happened. $0.28 isn't a lot but if they do this across the board it adds up
Deceptive with hidden fees; delivery fee is displayed, but they also hide a "service fee" under the "taxes" section (just to clarify; it's not a tax), which can vary in cost. "Deals" price threshold also creep up overtime, which is a bit reminiscent of price fixing. Dash Pass advertises it removes delivery fees, but then like half the options have a fee anyways (and there is always a varying service fee). They also skim drivers tips.
DoorDash lost a customer today. I've been with the app for years and spent Thousands (saved over $8k in fees with dashpass) but I can't continue to use them for the simple fact that a horrible McDonald's opened closer to my location, the worst rated one in the state and they won't let me choose the better one just down the road, but UberEats will, UE also has better UI, it's cheaper, they have discount codes all the time, you can upload drop off pictures and they have more menu options.
Ordering is normally great, but suddenly, I have a pin on my account. Based on what I've read, it's from too many issues with my order being delivered. However, that is not possible when for the last 6 months I haven't had a single issue and I've only ever had 3 issues from orders not being delivered properly last year!! At first, I was able to toggle it off, but now I can't even do that, I want zero contact with my driver. Now I have to message them, which yes is an inconvenience.
Super expensive additional fees. Why isn't there an option under your orders to rate your driver? For instance, once the delivery is completed and I open the app, it will pop up a "rate the driver" whatever window, and if I misclick out of it, I cannot get back to or retrieve that pop up again. it shouldn't be that hard. The dashers deserve better since their scores affect the orders they get.
I've decided to update my review, yet again. My one star is now for the platform. I liked when I could see how much the delivery fee was going to be, now they all say $0, but that's for Dash-Pass, so don't get confused like I did. In order to know how much you'll spend with a non-Dash-Pass account, you have to waste time making the order and clicking continue to see how much you'll actually spend. It's kind of obvious that Dash-Pass accounts get $0 delivery fee, Door Dash!
Supposedly, customer service told me the rules/regulations do not require them to give refunds - when I didn't receive a food item that I ordered and paid for. I received 2 of the 3 things. They refunded me less than the cost of the missing item. No refund for the percentage of fees and tax either. I liked doordash until this experience. It's basically theft. I'm paying for a service. Didn't get what I paid for and didn't get properly refunded for what I paid for and didn't receive. Not worth it
I had what I thought was a scathing review before, but the company has managed to outdo itself. Beyond terrible service, with dashers bringing the order to the wrong house or not picking it up at all, then having to deal with support to get a refund for a product they never delivered is too much. This service is supposed to make life easier, not more stressful. Far too expensive for the lackluster service they offer.
