Reviews for Dosecast – Pill Reminder App

Becca Waege

UPDATE 5.6.24 I have played with all the settings and I cannot get the notifications to turn on. I'm on 2 meds, a painkiller every 4 hours and an antibiotic every 6 hours, and I really need to take both on time and not mix up frequency. I really wish this worked with alarms. 2018 comment: No notifications - I like that I can track multiple meds short term but this would be much more useful if the notifications worked. I have to set a separate alarm which seems unnecessary.

I've been using Dosecast app for 5-6 years. During the past year it has stopped sounding alarms for medications due, even with my app permissions set to "on." I have also reduced the history 3 times, to keep even less & all meds that have been archived are hidden from view. Because the app is not alarming I have purchased a medication alarm clock that has 4 alarms I can set. This is my 4-5th issue of complaint since I began using it; each "update" seems to cause more malfunctions. 👎👎👎

I have used different med apps, but I find this to be the fastest and easiest and most flexible to use. Granted most of them have the same functions for entering pills, but I don't need all the extra health stuff, so I have used this for many many years and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to keep track of their medication quickly, withour fuss.

I've paid an annual subscription fee twice, and I expect more when I'm paying that much for an app. I thought it was worth it, but in the past several months the app has become very buggy on my OnePlus6T with Android Pie. I emailed the development team about the bugs but I haven't heard back from them. Sometimes after I've indicated that I took a medication, the app continues to play the notification sound and vibrate. Sometimes it doesn't accept my input, that I took a medication.

FIXED! I have had this app for so many years I cannot remember- at least 10? I never had any issue before... I am a subscriber to the cloud back up & sync. When I go to settings it tells me it cannot connect to the cloud. My internet is fine. My app is updated. I am afraid to uninstall & reinstall cuz I don't want to lose my data. Well I uninstalled, wants me to create an account, can't reach server & all my data is gone. UPDATE: I wrote to you through email & you fixed it. Thank you so much!!

I've been using this app for years (the free version). It's excellent for remembering to take your medication. You don't have to sign in to an account. It's easy to add your medication, the steps are easy. You can adjust the repeat reminder times to what you'd prefer. You can personalize the alert tone. I absolutely love it. I've checked out other medication alert apps, nothing compares to Dosecast!

I've used this app for several years. Since the latest update 2 days ago, the app keeps closing on me and doesn't give reminders. Please fix your 'fix'. This is usually a great app, but I'm not getting reminder notifications lately. I only get reminders when I open the app to check it, then I'll get all the reminders for the previous day. This seems to have started after the most recent update. Happy to give more stars if this new bug gets fixed.

Edit: After years of using this app, it suddenly logged me out and won't let me log in again. I emailed the company for help and have not gotten any response. If I was in the middle of doing something when it was time to take meds, I usually forgot to take them when I got done with that task. When I was just using calendar appointments, it was all the same tones. I really like that I can choose my notification sound. I also like that it will nag me until I take my meds.

This app has been really great! After full knee replacement my med list went up and was hard to track, especially with the added pain meds that muddled the mind. It prompts me to take meds, warns when I've taken the maximum dose for the day and had a nice history display. My only wish is that I could delete more than one history record at s time...make it a list... check, check, check...delete. Other than that, I'm very happy with this app!!

This app is almost perfect for tracking medications, particularly when you have a complex variety of doses and intervals to take meds at. It's an essential app for post-surgery recovery. The only weaknesses: It allows you to specify how many to take, but doesn't give you an option to say exactly how many you actually took. It also only allows maximum doses to be set for 24 hour period or day. Maximum dose should be allowed for any range of hours (ex: not more than 3 tablets every 2 hours).
