Reviews for Dr. Prius / Dr. Hybrid

We own 4 Prius Gen 3 (2010-2015) vehicles at my home and this app is a godsend for tracking our hybrid batteries. 3 of our cars have now needed a battery replacement and this has made it easy to track down which cells are doing bad. We fully replaced on of the hybrids, but thanks to this app, we were able to use some of the cells from that car in the two other cars and saved thousands of dollars by simply replacing the cells and rebalancing myself. A must own and support is extremely responsive!

(Worst spent money I ever had. Special functions are not working on Gen2 prius. all the rest available from the free version. Also even I paid for the "professional" level, keep asking me for further purchase. No Question,I will not going to pay more.... In summary, it is a ripoff.) I received a very fair Service from the developer. Free version is fine, make sure the paid version suits to your requirements, even ask questions rather than expect too much from it. Customer service 5 star.

This app is so easy to use with any Prius! Just be sure you have the right OBD2 adapter. This app tells you which one to buy, too! You can find your error codes and reset them too, even while driving. This is useful when your HV battery is starting to fail until your new one comes in. You can also disable the annoying reverse bus noise and seat belt beeping.

Not a bad app for testing hybrid battery, only issue is, it connects 1/10 x you have to keep closing and opening the app till it connects, for me anyway.. but its Worth it...., I used a viecar cost $28 and a obdII Bluetooth $5 adapter from ali express. I got the personal package, beats paying $200 for a technician to have a look

up until this last update i loved it, only thing i dont like is the update scheme on the battery monitor. it seems way to slow even on the fastest update. im using it on a galaxy s9. other than that it works great. im a mechanic by trade and bought this car to learn all about hybrids. this app has made my life easy in the shop. especially when changing a water pump or inverter pump!!

While the app does what it is says it does, it has trouble connecting to my obd2 scanner. I have tried two of the one's on their list it only connect after multiple tries. It also seems like it is using data from the battery and displaying codes that are not actually there. While this is helpful for preemptively fixing problem, it isn't always helpful with an aging car. If they can update the app to help with the connection issue I will change my rating.

Amazing software, and fantastic customer service. I was able to rule out my hybrid battery as the culprit for my reduced mpg. Initially the app wouldn't process my payment but I was able to quickly resolve it through the customer support email. You just gotta read the obd II compatibility section in the app to find a cheap one that'll work with the app. Incredibly intuitive and saving me so much money and worry.

The battery monitoring screen is confusing because it self adjusts vertical span... versus a fixed voltage range. For me (a EE) I'd get more out of it if it were fixed range of maybe 0.5v/block vertical span. Still auto-center the scale, but don't auto-change the vertical voltage span. It would be a great user option... Fully Auto-scale, or Sliding Fixed-Scale. It would also help to filter the values a little, there's way too much screen activity. Again, this would be a great user setting.

Before even using it, 5 stars! Clearly lovingly put together, with lots of work into scanner testing and compiling resources. Gold already just for that! Hoping it'll work with my Nexpeak K1, more expensive than the one that was tested (more expensive for immobilizer functions, which it worked great for. I'm assuming that means greater access to data than cheaper stuff)

Been very helpful my ECU throws battery codes everyday. It drives horribly until I clear the codes then it's back to normal. I don't understand what the colors mean specifically. It needs a legend or something to explain the colors. Also the on app purchases are a bit on the pricey side. If it was 5$ even say 8$ I would have bought it by now. And they both should be included In the price not 1 each.

What is included in the free app? This info isn't even in the app itself. I'd happily give you money of I knew what the difference was. The thing seems not to tell of you have real data coming through or not. I got linked up and have no idea what features work (no prompt to buy anything). The codes it spit out were not real codes for the ecu or HV system (or were wrong). Having a list for all features from free to full price should be on this page for what seems to be the top toyota app.

This is a scam app. They don't log the the VIN#. So, after 3 tries on the same vehicle it said I used up my licenses. First try it gave error message related to cold battery voltage. Then I tried 2 more times. When I wanted to try again the App said I used up all my licenses. In the ad it clearly said 3 different vehicles. I read this as unlimited tries in 3 different vehicles.

Great app, gave me confidence buying a used prius. Prices and restrictions for the in-app options should be listed upfront. I consider the price reasonable, but I couldn't learn what it was and what the restrictions were until I was sitting in the car, so I couldn't decide if it was worth it vs. a laptop with techstream. Compared to techstream, you get a nice custom test procedure that should give a little more info. I'd like to see some case studies of good, medium, and bad results on the developer's website that show off the value of the test procedures and how to interpret them.

I love the app, but made the mistake of showing someone how it works on their car. now u can't use it on my 3rd prius because I've "used my 3 licenses." I didn't run the pro tests on their car. why did it use up a license? why is there nowhere to contact someone about this issue in the app or on the web? WARNING‐ don't show anyone how it works because it uses a license just from connecting and doing the "free" monitor.

This app is a scam, I have downliad the app, looked at the demo, have seen the demo readings, paid the full price thinking it will work after the payment. And still did not se a single reading. I can show the screenshot but cannot upload here. Also, asked for refund, but no money back!!! Bad experience!!! Also Google Play isn't helping enough!!!

I paid for the license back in May and now after the update it says the cumulative voltage is a paid add on but I paid how do I get it back

Can only view 1st 14 cells up top can't switch to 14-28 also very limited abilities of app in general

used to work reliably now it won't connect 95% of the time so I literally have to try reconnecting over and over again sometimes for like 40 minutes before it finally connects. I've tried with several different dongles that all used to work just fine and now not a single one of them will connect like they used to though they work fine with any other app I've ever used. I think updates in Androids OS have caused the problem but The developer needs to fix the connection issues. This app is vital!

If you're shopping for a hybrid, you MUST use this app! The price for a unlimited license is drop in the bucket compared any problem you can find in a cars battery. (I have tested bad batterys at dealerships can not pick up on) It's actually super lucky to have access to this information. Never purchased a car without testing it, this app will show you the other side of the electric system your regular mechanic will not see.(unless he has this app:) ) wowsers!

Pros: Easy to set up, easy to use, clear instructions on the battery test, clear results on screen that explain the condition of the battery. Cons: You can only use the personal licence 3 times for $11.99+tax, gave me an error message when trying to save my results. I feel it's a bit overpriced for something you can only use 3 times. They have a mechanic version that costs $30+ which they should rename as Unlimited. They should change the personal to 5 uses or add more pricing tiers.
