We own 4 Prius Gen 3 (2010-2015) vehicles at my home and this app is a godsend for tracking our hybrid batteries. 3 of our cars have now needed a battery replacement and this has made it easy to track down which cells are doing bad. We fully replaced on of the hybrids, but thanks to this app, we were able to use some of the cells from that car in the two other cars and saved thousands of dollars by simply replacing the cells and rebalancing myself. A must own and support is extremely responsive!
Reviews for Dr. Prius / Dr. Hybrid
(Worst spent money I ever had. Special functions are not working on Gen2 prius. all the rest available from the free version. Also even I paid for the "professional" level, keep asking me for further purchase. No Question,I will not going to pay more.... In summary, it is a ripoff.) I received a very fair Service from the developer. Free version is fine, make sure the paid version suits to your requirements, even ask questions rather than expect too much from it. Customer service 5 star.
This app is so easy to use with any Prius! Just be sure you have the right OBD2 adapter. This app tells you which one to buy, too! You can find your error codes and reset them too, even while driving. This is useful when your HV battery is starting to fail until your new one comes in. You can also disable the annoying reverse bus noise and seat belt beeping.
Not a bad app for testing hybrid battery, only issue is, it connects 1/10 x you have to keep closing and opening the app till it connects, for me anyway.. but its Worth it...., I used a viecar cost $28 and a obdII Bluetooth $5 adapter from ali express. I got the personal package, beats paying $200 for a technician to have a look
up until this last update i loved it, only thing i dont like is the update scheme on the battery monitor. it seems way to slow even on the fastest update. im using it on a galaxy s9. other than that it works great. im a mechanic by trade and bought this car to learn all about hybrids. this app has made my life easy in the shop. especially when changing a water pump or inverter pump!!
While the app does what it is says it does, it has trouble connecting to my obd2 scanner. I have tried two of the one's on their list it only connect after multiple tries. It also seems like it is using data from the battery and displaying codes that are not actually there. While this is helpful for preemptively fixing problem, it isn't always helpful with an aging car. If they can update the app to help with the connection issue I will change my rating.
Amazing software, and fantastic customer service. I was able to rule out my hybrid battery as the culprit for my reduced mpg. Initially the app wouldn't process my payment but I was able to quickly resolve it through the customer support email. You just gotta read the obd II compatibility section in the app to find a cheap one that'll work with the app. Incredibly intuitive and saving me so much money and worry.
The battery monitoring screen is confusing because it self adjusts vertical span... versus a fixed voltage range. For me (a EE) I'd get more out of it if it were fixed range of maybe 0.5v/block vertical span. Still auto-center the scale, but don't auto-change the vertical voltage span. It would be a great user option... Fully Auto-scale, or Sliding Fixed-Scale. It would also help to filter the values a little, there's way too much screen activity. Again, this would be a great user setting.
Before even using it, 5 stars! Clearly lovingly put together, with lots of work into scanner testing and compiling resources. Gold already just for that! Hoping it'll work with my Nexpeak K1, more expensive than the one that was tested (more expensive for immobilizer functions, which it worked great for. I'm assuming that means greater access to data than cheaper stuff)
Been very helpful my ECU throws battery codes everyday. It drives horribly until I clear the codes then it's back to normal. I don't understand what the colors mean specifically. It needs a legend or something to explain the colors. Also the on app purchases are a bit on the pricey side. If it was 5$ even say 8$ I would have bought it by now. And they both should be included In the price not 1 each.
