Reviews for DRIVE Electric for Tesla

After resetting my pwd the app on my smartwatch has remained active/logged in for longer than 24 hrs now. The session used to expire from time to time but lasted a few weeks at a time. Hopefully this now will remain logged in for extended periods (or preferably until I logout). The session duration is probably is not under your control so I understand if it doesn't remain logged on indefinitely. Enjoy your vacation!

Originally only gave this 1 star because it wouldn't connect to my car. Runar emailed me and gave some suggestions to get it working. I ended up uninstalling it from both devices, removing the permissions and letting the token expire. I reinstalled the next day and everything seems to be working now so I updated this review rating. A little more difficult setup than i would have hoped for so I couldn't give it 5 stars but it all seems to be working now. Thanks for the support.

The Good: - Developer responds on messages - App works on one vehicle The Bad: - Setting up watch key on a second Tesla breaks the watch key on the first car. Then switching between cars confuses the app and watch key does not work on both anymore. I have been trying to make this work for 3 days and I finally gave up. I just want a back-up key for both cars (w/out needing internet connectivity) and I was hoping this app could do that. It couldn't. Now I need to look at other options.

This app is both a game-changer and a lifesaver. I can control my Tesla with my Pixel watch via wifi, Bluetooth and more importantly by NFC (tapping it against the door frame). I don't normally carry my key card, so this comes in especially handy if my phone dies or if I want to leave my phone in the car before a run. Most importantly, the support I got from Runar was great - he got me up and running in no time.

I've had the app on my Galaxy Watch 6 for over a year, and it works great. I like being able to turn on climate control inconspicuously when I'm about ready to leave a restaurant (or anywhere) without pulling my phone out of my pocket. It's also nice having another backup key on my watch.

Very well done app, feature rich, and does a great job working around limitations of Tesla's API. My only complaint is that it puts an icon at the bottom of the screen on my watch face. There appears to be no way to reposition the icon or (ideally) remove it entirely. I would guess that icon is there for a reason because everything else is so well thought out here - but I'd prefer to get rid of it, or at least move it to a less obtrusive position on my watch face.

Used to work with out phone being in range of car. Upgraded to 3.0hw and can no longer operate anything remotely from my watch. Reinstalled keys, reinstalled app, reinstalled keys, nothing. Only functions now if the watch is connected to the phone. Essentially nonfunctional. Developers solution is to do what i just said i did lol. Came back a year later. Still non functional.

Used to work all right. Now the commands to open, say, the frunk when you approach the car take a couple minutes to work. This is especially bad with the trunk because you can manually open it, load up your groceries, get in the car, and THEN it will open the trunk. Or maybe it will already be open and decide to close it on somebody's head. It also often (never?) doesn't work as a key; sometimes I approach my car and neither my phone nor watch works and I have to pull out my key card.

Hello, i have 3 Teslas. Whenever i pair with one using BLE. It deactivates the others. This is most frustrating in setting up. Also, it does not behave like the phone key even when the BLE connection is set to Always On. I can only tap the phone to the pillar to open the doors.

I've had good experiences with the app. For the money it's definitely worth having an NFC key on my galaxy watch. I don't use other features. It just makes my life easier if my phone is not connected, app is not open or no cell reception. The only thing I would say is when I first installed back when I got it in April it used to work with the PIN. Then after the update sometime in summer it stopped working with the PIN and my issue was quickly resolve with he help of the developer.

Have this app quite a few months. I originally wanted this so I could start the AC from my watch before coming out of the shops. This worked well. Now in the cooler months, I will probably only the other features. Just using the Bluetooth you can make it do an action on approach. this is useful for unlatching the door or the boot/frunk. I really like this option. With the UI, I was concerned at the font size with my older eyes but you can add Tiles and these are quick access and large. thank U

Paid $17 for this and it worked phenomenally in 2024. Tesla changed their API access in early 2025 and the developer chose to take all the features I pay for and put under a new $2/month subscription. I understand the new pricing but not offering a refund to customers who paid before is a slap in the face. Uninstalled as the app is useless for me now.

keeps disconnecting from the key and uslesd now cant depen on it. been a long time user even paid for the service to see if that would improve it no good

The setup process was a little daunting but I am new to Wear OS. (and old) The app does everything I ask it to although you need to adjust to the latency. I had Bluetooth control of the car without a phone in my pocket but I did have to go through the NFC learn process in the car itself. I had understood this step wasn't necessary. Maybe it was me. Anyway all good. I'm using a OnePlus watch 3.

Excellent app that adds a lot of functionality to my Galaxy Watch and provides a backup to get into/drive my Tesla if I don't have my phone or it's out of battery. Great value compared to other options and still very functional without paying for the monthly remote access (Tesla charges this fee via the developer). A teething issue with the bluetooth connection but developer responded right away and got it working.

Outstanding application to control my new Model Y from my watch! It is super useful to have my watch serve as a backup key in the event I do not have my phone on me (or my phone is not working). The NFC key option uses less watch battery than the Bluetooth key option. It would be GREAT if you could lock and unlock the car from the main screen. Currently I can only unlock from the main screen although I can lock from controls screen (but that is extra tapping).

Perfect. Works flawless on my Galaxy Watch 7. Controls anything...unlock/lockk, vent windows, climate, charge levels, etc.,..provides all stats, even drive the car as you'd expect. Bluetooth range allows me to control all from inside my house. Open the app on the watch, then simply walk up to the car and get in. So nice to not need my phone. What's not to like? Very pleased. Excellent work!

So far a 5 star app, works perfectly with Pixel Watch 2. It's a little slow on commands sometimes but I don't think that's the apps fault it's just communicating with the car and sometimes the car has to wake first. Overall considering this app doesn't require a annoying subscription like many others do I love it. It's a one time purchase and you're all set.

Unfortunately due to some external factors, this app no longer works nearly to the effectiveness it was when I bought it. Very disappointing. 1. There is now a subscription fee to access the vehicle over the Internet, such as to turn on climate control. 2. The Bluetooth key can't connect in the background, so you're required to use your watch to unlock the car. 3. The key disconnects during the drive so the car won't lock itself, requiring you to again use your watch.

Overall, I am happy with the app. I like the features and the ease of use from my Galaxy6 watch. My only issue is that I did not know that it does not work from your watch if your phone is not near your watch, even though my watch has NFC on, wifi on, and Bluetooth on. That is the reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars. In my opinion, it is still worth it for the one time purchase price. Had it been a subscription, I would most likely cancel it. 5 stars update. It worked. Just use the FAQ to set up
