I tried this app for about 40 minutes using my Galaxy S23 Ultra. It worked great, however... I noted the phone got quite hot. Too much heat and excessive usage of video. Later I read that using an expensive phone for a dash cam is not a good idea, no matter how good the app or phone/camera may be. I can't explain why a dash cam for 5% of the price of a phone doing the same things doesn't have the same heat issues. So, I ended up spending $39 on a dedicated dash cam from Amazon.

When I had this app on my previous phone, which is the exact same model as this one, it ran fine. Now it doesn't run the same, and the lag it is causing is really bad. I don't know if the lag is being created by the ads that are now on it, or the app is that bulky and slowing down my phone. If it were a lot more streamlined and didn't have this much lag, I'd keep it on my phone.

Overall, it's a great app and exactly what I've been looking for. However, it lacks at least one feature that would make a drastic change in quality. 1: allow full focus control. The current presets don't work well enough. Either infinite focus is still out of focus slightly or it sets to super close up on my other phone. The auto focus senses the windshield too much and therefore is unfocused outside. 2: why no option for 60fps like it says in the setting but I don't see it in the video optio

Had this for about 2 weeks now. Awesome. I prop my phone on the dash using a suction-cup holder. Open the app, press the record button and it records video in 5-minute increments you can retrieve in your pictures folder. It will even record in the background if you're using Google navigation or talking to someone on the phone. It also records audio. Important to note, this app will not magically make your phone's camera better and sitting your phone on the dash in the sun will make it heat up.

I've been having Droid Dashcam for over a year, and daily the last several months. I can't put into words how much I recommend it! The ONLY complaint I have - which I won't dock a star for - is I wish one of the available settings was 60fps. I've found the the best setting for me to capture license plates in motion is 30fps (day and night), 4k resolution, and max (85) bitrates video quality. But I believe 60fps would make capturing license plates in motion much easier. It's very hard with 30fps.

Just downloaded, but so far it seems to do everything i want it to do, is user friendly which is most important when riding motorcycles. This app also has more control options than any other I have downloaded as of yet. The speed display seems accurate as well.. Adds suck just like any other app, but that's the price we pay so we don't have to pay out of pocket. ** Recommendation - would really like to have a variety of speedometer display/color options. Temperature display would also be cool.

A lot of use from this camera. The only drawback I see is that you can't backup and restore settings for different purposes. I will give 5 stars for the addition of this function. Useful as dash cam, body cam in a holster, proves how and when I left work vehicles with all data in the video including speed, time, date, location. Records while using other apps and with screen off. No more discrepancies about what I did or what I said. This is a work tool for me, I donated.

I love this app, and would gladly pay for a paid version. But *please* add the option to terminate and close the app completely from the menu. I have no need to have the background watcher process running when I'm not in my car, it chews up battery, and having to force terminate it all the time is a pain. Also, please consider adding "and" capabilities to the autostart menu. For example, connected to particular Bluetooth device AND connected to power source, autostart recording.

BEST APP EVER!!! This is a more functional dash cam, with more useable features & options, than my last three actual dash cams! I love that it does a continuous loop recording, with a max storage cap, so that it doesn't eat up your storage. The Auto Day/Night, subtitles on the recording, & the customizable settings are amazing, and you can access ALL of the features FOR FREE!! The only change I would make is to add the option to record from both the front & rear facing cameras at the same time.

This used to work better but has somehow just been worse. It doesn't do sound anymore and the speedometer is always off. Worse now is that this app drains and uses my phone battery more than ANY other app even without using it at all for the day. It's also been really annoying when auto start and stop doesn't work, I'll arrive somewhere, access my phone, and this app opens and then starts recording, then you have to wait a second before it lets you turn it off. I just want it to work right.
