Excellent for my browsing needs. I never get slowed down, so I can look up whatever I need quick and without hassle. Fully confident when using it and twice as productive than when I used another browser. I'm glad I tried it so long ago and never looked back. it's the small changes that add up to a better, no nonsense, life experience. Its the speed and lightweight feeling that I'm really stoked on. My eyes don't have to dart all over the screen to find what I'm looking for anymore.
Reviews for DuckDuckGo Browser, Search, AI
← Back to DuckDuckGo Browser, Search, AIdifficult to import bookmarks from chrome. no email widget either. what the heck? was able to import passwords. but not able to import bookmarks. this app needs tons and tons of work. not liking the experience so far. not very user friendly to say the most. maybe deleting everything soon. I will have to think about it. let's see if developers will even email me back. I severely doubt it.
Okay. So when it first came out, it was great. I'm not sure how well it as far as my information being sold, but who gives AF cause everybody sells it. There's no way of stopping it unless you want a VPN which I don't want, but I can't stand that every time I open something and it automatically saves the last page and opens up a new tab ... you can't just close out, you literally have to x out to get it off your browser, or it saves tab...
They used to have both Bookmarks and Favorites, but they recently removed the option to "favorite" a site. I liked being able to access a site as soon as I open Duckduckgo; not have to navigate in a separate menu to access Favorites- or "bookmarks" now, I guess. 🤢🤮🤮 edit: I did notice "add to home page" in site settings, but it doesn't do anything when tapped. Great job on breaking your app 😑👍
I love this app that blocks hackers and you can search a lot of stuff but not everything . like if you want to do some shopping or certain images of shopping it doesn't show you much of it only two or three pictures. and sometimes it says that certain pictures with things cannot be found. otherwise it works pretty good I still have it on my phone but I think it needs a little upgrading is really good on keeping your stuff private and your personal data
I've used this app for quite sometime, but with the recent updates, and I suspect the "AI" features, the amount of data that normally can be cleared from the app-cache suddenly increases to 50-100 MB, and becomes locked and cannot be cleared unless the data is also cleared, requiring re-entering all settings. Once the app is connected to the internet, additional settings appear that were not present when the app is initially set up (e.g. passwords, Duck AI, etc.). The cycle repeats. Unacceptable
It's no longer an ad blocker. Also, half the time, when I'm browsing the web, for whatever reason, when I try to go back a page, it backs out of the app altogether. Web pages flicker when loading and scrolling. All of my browsers shortcuts just disappeared. I have a feeling the last two problems are the result of Samsung and/or Google fixing stuff that was never broken...only to break things.
The adblock feature is definitely useful for dealing with obstructive ads. But the search engine is missing the option to reverse image search as well as being able to search for info on things by taking a photo of them. ETA: Also the feature for filtering out AI-generated images isn't totally effective. In the few days that I've been making use of this browser on my phone, I've already come across a hard to ignore handful of AI-generated images that were supposed to be "hidden".
Not very good. You go to a site, it doest want to open. You go to one of your bookmarks, it doesn't want to open. Numerous times I had to switch back to Firefox just to open a website that duckduckgo can't open. it's slow as hell, dial up was faster than this browser. The last update was a joke. And now you want to add Ai to this...lol Fix what's wrong before you add something new.
So far so good! No data collecting. No pop-ups, no tracing of my searches, no weird resultant pop-ups in other apps on my phone! Love it! (written in 2021) update: STILL love it. Fast and easy to use, NO intrusions, and now it has an app-tracking blocker feature that keeps hundreds of tracking attempts out of my info across my phone. Love this, so helpful!
DuckDuckGo is my go-to browser. It’s fast, simple, and I love the extra layer of privacy it gives me. Unlike other browsers, it limits cookies and blocks the tracking that websites and platforms don’t need to know about you. I feel much safer browsing with it, and I don’t have to deal with all the annoying ads and data collection. If you care about privacy and want a smooth browsing experience, this app is a must-have.
Full of bugs. This app has so many problems. Search only works on WiFi. There's a time out error every time I try to search on mobile data. Chrome has no problem doing this simple task. Secondly, this browser can't open apps. I have the settings to open links in app but it never works. It asks every time and still doesn't open the app. There's no way that this app is ready for people, like me, who want to leave Google Chrome. Duckduckgo simply can't be my only browser.
Providing security simply, Duck Duck Go makes it fun to delete your brower history. Also, the free version takes up less memory space than the two Google apps I was using previously together. It does more for free like the added bonus of keeping other apps on my cell from tracking my activity. Since I started using Duck Duck Go in 2025, I definitely noticed a difference with having more time in a day; because it's taking time to use apps on my phone. I only wish I had started using this sooner!
I LOVE DuckDuckGo! I definitely recommend using it to block trackers across apps! I use several free apps for things like podcasts, library, games, grocery discounts, and I had no idea how many companies (esp Google and Facebook of course, and we already know they suck) are attempting to track thousands of pieces of personal info. I also super recommend watching videos from YT through Duck Player because no ads! Only thing is you can't "play all," you have to click to the next one.
DuckDuckGo does a good job of blocking ads and pop-ups. Maybe too good. My favorite website stopped working, displaying the error message "disable ad blocker to use this site". I wish I could choose to disable the ad blocking for that one website or just temporarily turn it off. Instead, I have installed another browser to use on that page, so I removed a star.
Exceptional protections, fully functioning browser, alright search results. I love that I'm not being tracked, the lack of ubiquitous ads, and the fact that it actually loads every single page I've been to correctly (not gonna call anyone out. You know who you are.) Search results with DDG are not quite as good as using Google, but for most searches, it's acceptable.
I have had problems with hackers stealing my information. I used Duck Duck go security, all of them, so I can't be tracked and my data is not saved. Even protects my email, and I haven't had the issues i was having. They even have a way to clean out the hackers from attacking your phone. The browser works great for not collecting data, but you can't go back to a previous page because there is no data collected. I'm fine with that as long as I'm protected. I enjoy Duck and use it on all my apps.
Love the search engine. It doesn't lock you into an algorithm that gives you the same three reslts over and over again. I feel like I've finally popped the information bubble I was trapped in. But about 1/4 of the webpages I visit don't load at all. I'll often get a blank white screen or a popup that asks me to update my browser. Could just be that my phone is too old. And the youtube player doesn't work. Still gives me ads, can't play playlists and has been crashing in the middle of videos.
I love that it prefills the cookie selection for sites for me (it auto fills for the most private that it can)! I hated having to go in and manually select all of them. I really like that clearing your data is just a click on the toolbar. not that it was a ton of work in other apps, but its the little things. Also, I like that it shows when it blocks companies from getting my data. It's crazy to see how many though. After not even 1 full day, it had blocked over 1k.
I love DuckDuckGo! I'm referring to both the search engine and the browser in this case. Privacy has become a huge concern of mine lately, and I think that we need more search engines that don't track us based on our activities. I do realize that DDG has also jumped on the AI bandwagon, but theirs seems less intrusive than some of the others, at the very least, i.e., according to their privacy policy, it doesn't collect personal data from you either.
