Reviews for Eato®: Calorie Counter

← Back to Eato®: Calorie Counter

free trial lets you downlod and look at it. nothing else! # by default, just downloading an app gives developer a ton of personal phone data and access rights- regardless what you say in app settings. so any criminally minded developer can develop a bogus app that gets you to download, see its junk, delete, bad guys now got more than enough to do bad things. $110 to buy a year subscription- after alldiscounts clicking out. GOOGLE & ISP SHOULD BE LIABLE 4 ALL BAD GUYS BECAUSE THEY ALLOW IT !!!

AI is not accurate at all, although I have always been writing in the optional field what exactly is on the plate. the barcode reader doesn't recognise most things. I payed for 1 year subscription (in September), cancelled it but it doesn't look like I'm getting my refund back. I've contacted the customer service and instead of providing me with help and a refund they offered me another membership from other apps 🤷 discusting

There is no free trial. they charge you the same day for the full year and then have to fight to try and get a refund. i have my credit card trying to get my money back and file a fraud charge. also when scanning UPC's. The first six I scanned showed they could not be located. on one of them that scanned, it would not allow me to change the portion and put the entire package in my meall.

Plain and simple, gets to the point. Yet very creative and comfortable to use. I love how it first gives you the option to search, take barcode, or check item through camera. Second, that it adds exercise to the mix and how much you burn. Both very powerful features. It's my own personal dietitian and workout summary and result of the day. Very pleased with it. My third favorite feature is it tracks how much you burned exercising! Those three features just makes the app stands on top the rest!

Beware, dont use this app. From the ad videos, tiktoks, and questionnaire i got when i downloaded. I kept seeing that this app also included meal plans to help with your weight loss journey. this app only includes the ability to keep track of calories. nothing more. also, the first week is free with a yearly charge of 39.99 which charged immediately. what happened to the free trial. very sketchy.

It's not a bad app, per se, but there are multiple entries for the same item with different nutritional values and calorie counts. Which one do I choose? Also, I had to do a factory reset on my phone and lost all my data which concerns me. 🤷🏾‍♂️ All my other apps' data were backed up by Google on my Android phone, but there doesn't seem to be an option to backup the data on Eató...

So far, I like this app for ease of tracking. there are a few features I wish it had, like viewing your weight history in a chart or seeing your calorie history. I also wish it allowed you to put in half servings, but it only allows whole numbers. But it does its job and takes the stress out of me having to calculate calories.

There are no instructions on how to use the app. There is no ready-made food list, I put whole grain bread in the search bar..zip, this makes the app cumbersome it's really a pain when you try to adjust the pre-set amounts, you cannot. I use a scant teaspoon of butter on my toast, the program only allows a Tablespoon I'll be canceling my subscription.

Overall, I really like the app — it’s user-friendly and helpful. One thing I’m curious about: under the details for each entry, there’s a section for “Other” nutrition facts (calcium, iron, etc.), but these don’t seem to be included in the daily nutrition totals. Only fat, protein, carbs, and fiber are tallied. It would be great if the full nutritional breakdown was reflected in the daily summary.

overpriced does not allow for doing a quarter, half, etc of a serving so i have to keep my own count still. AI scan is very misleading and not worth $20 a month, only i have the half off and had to pay up front for the app not monthly allowing me to cancel. i will be contacting Google to request a refund, because I am so fed up having to double the work, I do not have the time for. so buyer beware. AI have given this app a fair shot, two weeks and False Advertisement is the words I will choose.

Disappointed in app. It's just a calorie counter app, not what was advertised. This app also doesn't offer a way to contact to request a refund. It says click on contact button, but there isn't one. I canceled after 2 days on Google. I hope I get my refund. I found a better app that offers much more, including recipes and nutritional values.

AI is great an all but it's still in its infancy. It does pretty well but sometimes it doesn't know how to act and I've wasted a bunch of time retaking a bunch of pictures. When this AI does it's best, it's pretty close until it chokes. I tried to put it in manually but there are certain things I cannot do with it. I weigh everything in grams and if necessary I can convert to grams and convert to ounces but a lot of the food choices have varying acceptance with weight units. Keep working it.

This App does not work. I still have to enter information about the food it's scanning, even though it is in the portion size on the plate. The way it was advertised was that it would determine calories by scanning your plate. It would make eating out a little easier. It does not. If I have to calculate it; I might as well not pay for this App.

*Edit to respond: A free trial is FREE. It has nothing to do with the price. It is the fact that you charge immediately even while stating you will not charge until after. Making it harder to fight for a refund. *Original: 7 day trial says it is not charged until after the trial. I was charged same day. The app is so basic. I would rather just use My Fitness Pal or pay for the premium version. Get way more with it, and an app that actually tracks steps. This Eato app is just overpriced junk.

Missing Key Features!!!! Friend recommended app because it had some Advanced features that were helping them lose weight. I believe they had an iphone. I have an Android and the Android version does not offer the same benefits. I am disappointed in the fact that my fitness devices cannot be connected and I have to guess which option to choose to most closely match what I have actually burned for the day. There also isn't a feature for me to do half of a serving! I dont recommended this app.

Zero Australian food in database and you can't add any. Unable to change quantity, for example, 3oz was the only option for a food I tried to add, when a serve is 125g. Australian food has very different calories, for example Quick Oats here, 1 serve is 30g but only able to enter 1/2 cup which has about 40 calories too many. The database is EXTREMELY LIMITED. Got sucked in to signing up for 12 months without being able to try it first. Significant problems to use this rubbish.

All features of the app except for exercise logging are hidden behind a $20 a month paywall, not even manual search or barcode search are available for free. There are plenty of apps out there including netdiary that offer the same functionality (excluding AI features) that can be used for free. $20 a month is too much for the benefit of one feature that doesnt really make that much of a difference considering caloric information is easily accessible. ChatGPT and Gemini are free :)

Before the latest update I could snap a photo and enter the weights of each food I had in the meal to accompany the AI review. It was very accurate and fast, done in under 1 min! Now it's all AI only and it often gets the measurements and items wrong and it takes me 20+ mins to shuffle through items to find something close. For a paid subscription, this is not okay. They were able to fix this error for about 3 weeks and now have refused to answer my emails. Not worth the expense.

Edit #2 (first edit erased)- they requested more detailed feedback, but there isn't much more detail I can give. allow more things to be free on the app so that people who don't have money can use it. simple. thanks. I was really excited to try this app. I was hoping there was a way to try it for free before you had to pay anything, but there's not. You can log everything information-wise to get started, but you can do zero things on the app unless you sign up and pay.

All in all, I like this app. However, there are some changes I'd like to see: 1. The ability to like other fitness devices and apps 2. The ability to customize the portion size of food, i.e., entering a 1/2 cup of something if I'm not eating a full serving in order to cut down on different macros. It appears the AI scanning feature only detects full portions, and I'd rather scan a serving cup than enter it manually.
