Reviews for ecobee

Bought two to use the geofencing feature, asks you to pick participating devices (plural), But the developer set the selector to only one response allowed. So, only one of the two ecobees is working with geofence. Also, anytime any one of us leaves, the thermostat gets set to away. It should only set to away if all devices leave. Giant fail. I hope they get it fixed!

App has failed and zero customer support. Thermostat works great but the app won't let me login to my account. tried to call the tech support number but they are apparently closed at 4 in the afternoon. Customer support is poor at best. Worked great for 6 months now I'm locked out. One of the other brands offering smart thermostats may be better. Anyone else's customer service can't be any worse

overall works. I could use a few updates. When you set a schedule it works fine, but for the day that peaks hotter than usual, you stand there trying to set the thermostat to 70 and it will say, "Until (the next day)" which, at 10:00PM isn't what I'm looking for. I want to go to bed and not wake up at 3 because my house is sitting at 74. there should be an option that let's you set until when on the interface there's a gap in schedules and on demand settings is all I'm saying. otherwise great.

There are so many bad things about this app. 1. Ad to buy something else every time you launch the app. 2. You must always have something on the schedule. Why? I don't want the schedule. 3. If I do want to use the schedule, I can only do things in 30 minutes increments. 4. Everything seems to require a bunch more clicks than it should. 5. My app doesn't seem to be in sync with my actual thermostat temperature. I wish I had purchased another Nest. Edit: App seems in sync now and the ad went away

My only complaint is that the "x room sensor has reconnected" notifications completely block any access to the app until you have pressed "ok" for each and every notification. I don't use the app every day, or even every week, and I have 5 room sensors. Sometimes it takes forever to get past the notifications so I can use the app. (ps. don't tell me to reposition my sensors -- I can live with them sometimes disconnecting. I just don't want the notifications to block the app.)

Go with Google Nest if you can. The app stopped working a couple weeks ago. I have tried restarting my router, switching to a different connection point (mesh system), uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and it still doesn't work. My house was just finished in February so this isn't an issue of older technology. I had a similar issue with my last carrier cor thermostat/app combo so I'm wondering if this is an overall company problem. I've tried emailing support and heard nothing back.

I have used this app for many years and liked it. But couple days ago it would not connect to my ecobee. Screen is black with an "e" in the middle. After a minute I get a message "Trouble connecting to your device. Please use your thermostat on the wall while our team resolves this issue". My ecobee is connected to the internet. Have tried connecting repeatedly over days. Uninstalled / re-installed the app - no help. Pulled the ecobee off the wall - no help. FRUSTRATED!

They make it very difficult to just use it as a basic thermostat. I had to go into a menu to turn off the schedule. I just want to set it to cool or heat and a temperature and have it maintain that temperature. I really don't want the thing trying to adjust itself. It is unnecessarily complicated. I wish there were a more simple way to have it function as a basic thermostat, not a "smart" thermostat. I never would have bought this product but it came with my air conditioner.

Another point of failure for your home. Every once in a while your home will quit staying at your desired temperature, and you have to figure out what new features they added that you have to disable to get it to stop trying to out smart you, and just stay in your desired range. New thing is it won't let me decide what temperature range I want to stay at, and no customer support until tomorrow. I've had the eco for 6 years. Good thing is if your heat is not working correctly you will get a notif

Terrible app. To get to 75° I have to set it to 74°. Also, the scheduling is terrible. You should be able to delete a schedule and start a new one and how do you set the temp on a schedule? I can change a start time but that's it. Please find a rational person to create a better schedule interface. Nothing fancy. Just a start stop and temp. Simple.

The features of the app and the ecobee thermostat are wonderful, but it is constantly pushing popup notifications to ask me to review it. After being asked to review the app for the 10th time after changing a temperature, I decided to leave this review. It would be a much higher review if it didn't have annoying popups in the middle of every day use.

Zero stars. This app refuses to let me disable Eco+. I am disabled, home-bound, live in an old house with old windows, and I'm unable to turn off Eco+. I do not recommend this thermostat or app to anyone. It claims it has the "option" to disable in the menu, but it doesn't work. Ecobee calls it a "bug that they are hoping to work out as possible" as of 5 years ago. It's not a bug, it's permanent, it's them forcing you to let them control your power usage and temperature in your own home.

This app makes it easy to save money on your electric bill (significant savings). This app makes the A/C (heat pump) unit more energy efficient. It's very easy to use. Built in sensors turn OFF the unit when no one is home. It also takes into consideration when demand is high, making electric rates more expensive. When the rates are low, it runs the unit more. When the rates are high, the unit runs less. It'll send you emails letting you know when to change the filter and much more.

The app crashed after a week. After two weeks, it stopped loading data for the home screen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, now I can't even log in. The website works fine. As a whole, the app is less user-friendly compared to a Nest or Honeywell product. It is also way more buggy. The app continues to not load. it will work for about a week and then not load data or crash for a whole day. Then the app will work again for about a week.

Works great so far, 8 months in. 2 improvements I would like to see, both within the app- the thermostat current temp and adjustment box should ALWAYS remain at the very top. Any other junk, like pushing your other gadgets which I have no intention of buying, should be in the empty space below the primary controls, the #1 purpose of the app. It's very annoying when I see the +/- sign at the top, and just when I'm about to click it, ad pops up in it's place. And stop with the review requests.

I'm disabled and can't get up right away. this app is convenient. I can change the heat or cooling settings in bed. I can control these settings while away from my home. I have saved almost 100 dollars in a year. I relly like it. now that I have all settings corrected and set. I bet I'll be saving more. highly adv anyone to get this if you don't have it.

I've only used this app for a day and already see it is overly complicated compared to Resideo, and the ads, argh! Win for Resideo. I didn't spend good money on a thermostat to deal with ads each time I use the app. As for the geofence, it's useless to have it in meters. Should be miles or kilometers. Win #2 for Resideo. I attempted to use the schedule but it was not at all user friendly. KO by Resideo. I'll give it a week but I feel the ecobee might be returned.

Unable to connect. When we first had our Ecobee thermostat installed, everything worked properly with the app. It was great to be able to change the thermostat when we were away from home. I'm not sure what has changed over the last few months, but the app cannot connect. I've uninstalled and reinstalled on several occasions. Still no luck. Hoping they can get the issue solved, soon. I miss the functions I had when the app worked properly.

The network infrastructure of this has gotten very bad. I don't know if it's just not being supported or what. But my app doesn't show me the latest temp and settings reported on the device. And when I use the app to adjust anything, the device never takes. And No, it is not any network issue on my end. 300 up/down and the device very conveniently located to the router and reporting connected.

Never tracks temperature or settings in real time. Every time I open the app, I have to wait for it to refresh in order to see the current temperature. It often fails to update at all, and I have to manually refresh it. The servers also frequently crash, disabling any smart control of the thermostat.
