Reviews for EV Connect

← Back to EV Connect

App is slow and cumbersome, requires a long load every screen. And lacks an NFC digital fob like chargepoint has. Evconnect replaced chargepoint chargers in my office and the start-charge process has gone from a couple of seconds to minutes.

I don't know why these EV charging companies make the process to actually charge your car so cumbersome instead of just letting me tap my credit card in pay and instead make me go through an app registration process that inevitably fails. It fails to register and my password gives me an uncaught exception. imagine if I had to go through this ridiculous process every time I pulled up to a new gas station. Completely idiotic.

This app decided to make me update while I was trying to pay. This was extremely irritating after the first 2 different locations were broken upon arrival even though 1 had the "ready" light still on even. They are so bad that people are going to switch back to gas cars.

This app places a $25 hold on your card every time you start a charge—even if your session costs just a few dollars. If the charger disconnects and you have to restart, it stacks more holds. I wasn’t told this anywhere in the app—only buried in the terms. Those holds can last up to 5 business days. For anyone living paycheck to paycheck, this could seriously mess up your week. Totally unacceptable.

Works well for finding stations and initiating the charge. I like that no subscription is required to get reasonable prices and that it uses Google Pay. The app feels bare bones though with slow status updates and no way to stop the charge. I have to press the unlock button on the CCS plug to stop the charge.

There were 2 available stations. I plugged in to 1 and got a message that it was charging .4-5 minutes later I got a message that it had stopped charging. I called the number for help and repeated the actions. I was then told to go to the other station. It may be working. I really won't know for a while.

Tried guest mode, it accepted payment but the charging session immediately "finished". Tried to sign up, kept telling me to "wait 2 minutes". Tried using the chargers without the app, using only a credit card, same immediately "finished" issue. Called the number on the charger and said I'd like to leave the make/model and charger IDs, he insisted to use the app. Horrible experience, will be avoiding these chargers. I tried multiple charges, could not get any to work.

Nice, quiet, semi private, close to dealership doors; ease of use for guest entry, and affordable. I think a $25 fee charge is a bit much, BUT it is refunded after a day or two. Unfortunately, I can't seem to join the site to avoid constant guest log ins; seems to be an application problem. It's a level 2 charge station; anything is better than a Level one.

Terrible. They keep a $25 hold on your card even if the machine was faulty or did not connect. There is no way to prepay either. Report them to your state's better business bureau, if this has happened to you. Their machines are rarely working too. You get to one and it looks fine but when it doesn't connect it keeps your $25 for a couple of days. It adds up if you go to several non working machines. If you see EVConnect stay away go anywhere else. 50/50 chance it's not working.

Stalls are often down for way to long. RFID cards work randomly on different terminals. The labels on terminals are laughably small. The app keeps dropping my payment option out so I have to put it in over and over. These are the reasons I'd never invest in a company like this. Still a one star app as of 4/1/2024 since none of these issues have been fixed.

I used this app to pay for charging as a guest. I charged for 1.5 hours and then unplugged my car and the screen said charge complete with a $5.50 cost. The app didn't update to reflect that it had been disconnected for 12 hours and I was charged over $170 in idling fees. I called EC Connect and they said they can't locate a transaction made as a guest in the system and don't provide receipts to guests, so they're unwilling to fix the fraudulent transaction. Do not use this service.

Buggy app, freezes often. Way too many stations are out of order. You will not find this out until you drive way out of your way & connect. Station ports do not lock into your car, so people will sometimes take your plug out & try to stretch it to their car if you are not in your vehicle. You should only be allowed to stop an active session by the app, not by pulling the plug. Pay attention to rates, because every station has different prices. There are fights at some stations when people idle.

Only used it once but it worked just fine. Unfortunately they put a 25 dollar charge on your card when you first use it and there is no indication that you will get that money back. My charging session only charged me 9 dollars but 25 was taken out of my credit card. I'm assuming that the next time I stop by a charger it will use the rest of the money that they took but I can't fine anywhere on the app that says that to thats frustrating.

Pretty convenient app. Had a problem with a charger station that indicated the chargers were occupied when they were not. I contacted their help number, and they called me back in 15 minutes, which is great, but I had left by that time. The tech who texted me was ready to troubleshoot the problem. This conveys they are working hard to be responsive in a competitive market.

Used to be simple, straightforward and great. Now with the Software update, I struggle to understand what I press to start scan, how do I begin charge etc. Too many mouse clicks and simplicity gone! Please try big buttons that guide the user and not a bunch of corporate reports like feature right away. Else, easy 5 stars.

the charger itself isn't bad when it actually works maybe I'm just used to superchargers where they actually work 100% of the time. sometimes it picks and chooses which vehicles it works with which is super frustrating because there's very minimal charging stations here in Sierra vista. if you have to call them good luck. you'll call India where they may or may not pick up and generally can't fix the issue and direct you to other non-existent chargers. they usually can do nothing over the phone.

I'm about sick of tour app holding funds when the charger glitches out. thanks a lot evconnect. And here's an update as of 9/6/25. You really need to work out the bugs in this application, and your software. I love how quickly you will put a hold on my funds, but yet there's no possible way to release them when your machine fails, until the system allows my funds to be released. 2nd time Im stuck because of frozen funds.

Garbage app. App said station working but not connecting so I called customer support. Told me try to charge again a couple times, didn't work. Still debited $25 from for each try. Now I am missing $75 as a result! The best part was Angelina made me waste almost 15 minutes of my time "troubleshooting" before she looked in her computer to say "There's already an open ticket and its been escalated. There's no ETA for when it will work again". Thanks for debiting me $75 for nothing, I guess

the app and charging is fine. but their pricing is fraudulent. they listed their price as a flat $10 after 3 hours. a great price. no where did they mention there would be a parking time fee. nothing in the emails or on their app. and yet they charged me more than $9. so much for a $10 flat fee. their support responses were even worse. not addressing my complaint. I have now disputed charge

It's a little *clunky* starting the charging process, but that might be more an issue with me. I charge at home 99% of the time, so it takes awhile to get used to how every charging app works. The app didn't approve my credit card that I had saved to it, so I need to figure out what I did wrong there. (I use it with other apps, that's why I think it's "Operator Error.")
