Reviews for EVgo Fast EV Charging Stations

← Back to EVgo Fast EV Charging Stations

I'm starting to rethink electric. I will say I like that their stations are fast charges, but they have frequent problems. The stations I visit are, most of the time, down..as if no one is coming out servicing them. I'm now seeing small charges to my account when I haven't used( broken stations). They dont even give you a complimentary session if you cant charge, like other companies..The app also will not allow me to switch my primary card option.

The app is horribly broken. About the only thing it does right is show you where the chargers are. I started charging while we were shopping at the mall, and even though I had a strong 5G signal, it could never give me the status. While it was charging, it kept saying that there was a problem. Additionally, I found out that the card I had associated with the account had expired, and trying to add a new valid card kept ending and failure as well.

terrible onboarding experience. looks like I'll be unable to use your app. plenty of other options. 1) no matter how many times I request a verification email and respond to it, it always shows unverified and not ready to use. 2) I entered my physical address and it thinks the closest charges are in CA... I'm in Denver. this is clearly not how it's intended to work, and I refuse to call customer service while doing something like signing up which should be very very easy. what a terrible start.

It's okay but could be better! Not everyone has $50 in their account for a hold, For others looking at this review "they put a $50 hold on your card" if you're having trouble getting it to work, could possibly be the error. The charger nor the App will tell you that. You will get a notification from your bank if anything. Once I learned the whole process it was easy but not at first, it was a pain in the kaboos! Hope this can help someone else get charged faster!!

The signup process is ridiculous. I tried signing up on the web first, it doesn't tell you there's a maximum password length limit until after you fill out everything and try to submit. Then it says there is a 24 character limit, but it won't accept a 24 character password. It wasn't until signing up through the app where it shows you there is a 20 character length limit. This is the stupidest password requirement I've ever seen. For a service that holds credit card information, I don't trust it

The app is great at showing you where chargers are located, but horrible when actually charging your car. The app took a long time to load, logged me out, and my credit card info had to be re-entered twice. My car was never recognized. I was never able to charge. I have tried 3 different chargers at 2 different charging stations. There is a $5.00 pending charge on my card, but according to my car and this app, charging failed. Does the app ever work properly?

The app is completely useless. 1. It doesn't detect any nearby locations even if I'm literally at the station. 2. It keeps telling me to add a payment and then when I attempt to add it, it says payment failed. Even though I know for a fact my card is attached to it. 3. Everytime I need to charge, I have to call to get customer service to initiate from their end. They always advise to use the app but it hasn't worked for me since January.

Holy hell guy and gals! The new app is a hot mess. I work in tech and have shipped some bad builds but this is terrible. Any eta on when you will have bugs sorted out? Love the network and platform...Here are just a few... It constantly tells me that charging is complete when it's not. I get a charging ended or error message every once in a while. Randomly logs you out of the app. Frequently gives me a error that it "failed to pull required information" and I retry to no effect.

I think it's actually pretty accurate, I use it over the other apps. and I love the ease of the membership card. my only gripe is I wish for a bit MORE accuracy, as I get locations recommended to me that are not yet open/activated, or some kiosks are down but don't say so. or maybe a better way to report when these things happen. otherwise, the app is great!

The app is horrible. It keeps logging you out. It takes forever to log in again. It doesn't know when your car is connected. It doesn't keep accurate track of your charge. If it wasn't for the physical card they send you that is linked to your account, it would be nearly impossible to use the app to pay on the chargers. You would have to pay the full rates, with your debit or credit card. When I do use the card to pay, I can't keep track of how much charging it has, the app keeps saying error.

Constantly waiting, it's like the servers just aren't responsive or can't handle the demand. And the app constantly logs me out. It's a very frustrating experience but it does at least work to start a charge. It just takes a few minutes. More of a charging issue here, but the negotiation between my Mach E is not working well either. I've never seen higher than 70kwh despite them being 200kw chargers. I've tried numerous times and numerous chargers. It's always 50-70. But the car can do 150.

charging for the first time was extremely difficult. there are no satisfactory instructions, and if it weren't for a kind stranger, I would have left there very frustrated, but. other than that, charging didn't take as long as I expected. there is one other thing. there were multiple cars finished with charging, but there drivers were fast asleep. if I had been waiting for a turn to charge my vehicle, this would have been very frustrating.

The app got updates recently (you can tell cause everything is yellow now) and it's just horrible now. It logs me out everytime I close the app and it takes a long time to load everything. Sometimes it doesn't load at all! I can't see my transactions for example. It keeps showing me the loading icon and never moves past that. Wished I hadn't updated the app...

Update Evgo app doesn't allow you to stop the charge from your phone. The touch screen malfunctions at various locations but cx svc picks up quickyand getd me on my way. Both ChaDemos on the West side are infamous for having to call customer service to stop charging. Evgo chargers cost more up front than other stations and are slower. I often have to plug in and disconnect then try again because it couldn't connect the first time.

first time to use the app. It was much easier than I thought it was going to be, Yay! sorry, I have to change that rating. There I was, thinking everything was going just A-OK fine, no troubles UNTIL I noticed my gauge displaying 35%, only 5% over the amount I had upon arriving, about a half to 3/4 of an hour past. I got out to see what was going on. the display told me that it had lost communication with my vehicle, to stop and try again. next time it said that maybe my vehicle was running,

At first I was a little irritated because I was in the app and browser, and I was having trouble connecting with the charging station. I was continuously being strung in a Login loop. After a few mins, and a few (maybe several) tries, I finally came to the conclusion that the charger was to blame. I was planning on going to another station but I ended up just waiting for the other hub to be free. Once moved and plugged in. it was a breeze to connect. It was exciting and easy enough. lol.

this app used to be great. lately it's been showing wrong prices. You pull up and it says one price then when you go to start it the price goes up. ive been using this. for months so I know what the on and off peak prices should be. Seriously thinking of changing brands. you guys need to fix this because Im paying about 15 cents more during off peak hours.

Company lies to customers. The app regularly breaks and you can't access parking garages. When you talk to customer support they will lie to you and tell you to pay for parking and get credits for what you pay for parking but then when you submit them you're told it won't happen because they are not the parking garage owners and can't refund for parking you're forced to pay for because the app is yet again broke. I've emailed them many times about this already. Nothing is getting fixed.

Charging works fine, although the location I used had one of the only two stations out of order, but the app is a slog to use. Starting it up is slow and inconsistent, sometimes not opening at all and displaying an error message. When the app does launch, the map and other menu's loading times are also inconsistent. Sometimes instant, sometimes taking a few minutes to finally appear.

The lack of reliability of the EVgo network and app really makes me question whether they've got an actual engineering team. The number of network-wide failures is astounding. Right now they have blocked access to the entire app with a note that says Autocharge still works. I'm assuming that's a true statement for most people. HOWEVER, my credit card on file is failing, and I cannot even open the app to see which one it is or be able to switch it. Thanks EVgo!
