If you plan on renting a car, make you sure you have several hundred dollars for deposits at the counter. Or else they will decline the booking. I didnt have 650. Expedia will charge you for the rental since they do not support vehicle rental refunds at all, however, they will refund your insurance policy with no problem. Their phone support does not have a working number through the app, you have to jump through hoops to find a number. When you do actually speak to someone, they won't help.
Reviews for Expedia: Hotels, Flights, Cars
← Back to Expedia: Hotels, Flights, CarsMy sister in law sent me a link with trip details via email. I tapped on it and it forced me to download the Expedia app to view. I am logged in to the app. Tapping the link in the email opens the app to the home section. It doesn't open to the trip details as it should. When I tried to leave feedback about this (via the feedback section in the app), I was typing my feedback in a text box and the app reloaded itself to a blank page and deleted everything I had entered. Cool. Cool.
always great deals if utilized correctly sometimes it's better to book with the property or airline itself,I find a lot of finger pointing happens when you book third party so be careful of this ifyou need to cancel or have issue,That will send you into loops of nowhere frustration, and each side shows no remorse or care. But if you know for sure you are going somewhere on vacation or what not, the deals can be good. and the option to make payments are great for us on fixed budg we all need RnR!!
Warning! This app is a hidden data hog. I started getting alerts on my phone that I was almost out of high speed data - the primary culprit? This app. No idea why it needed to suddenly download over 1 GB of data... especially since I wasn't using it and didn't have any active reservations. Strongly recommend disabling it from using network data or better yet, just uninstall it.
couldn't get an answer to my question despite multiple requests to virtual assistant and checking itinerary, pressing various buttons and then trying to go down different rabbit holes. tried to complain on the app and got kicked out of my complaints. I got so mad I laughed, feeling like I was getting punked by AI. Will not use the app again. will Uninstall it after my trip.
We always try to book our holidays with Expedia first, and only have to go elsewhere if they haven't got exactly what we need. Never had any problems, on one occasion our flight got cancelled (COVID) and Expedia immediately refunded our hotel, the easyJet refund was very slow but that has to be done with the airline not with Expedia so again no actual problem with Expedia at all. Happy to make it our first place to look for holidays. Would prefer if rewards could be spent on packages though.
the app glitched and double booked me on a non refundable reservation. hotel would not refund, Expedia would not refund, bank would not refund. thank God it was only one night. i can only imagine how much I could have lost if this happened on a bigger trip. i reached out to Expedia immediately after it happened. there's really no excuse. I deleted the app after a decade of using Expedia.
just a couple of tweaks would make it a 5 stars for me. Trying to write a review for travel properties is not good,as you can not see (at least I can't on my phone) what you have typed to make corrections. Also, the last property was surprised I had a pet. It was pet friendly, but I did not see a place to tell them in the app reservations that I was bringing my dog.
I had a bad experience with automatic price adjustments costing me a little extra. it got worse when there was a form buried in the tools that would not work when I tried to submit for a review of the transaction. customer service took extensive digging to get to, and then they finally decided to not do anything about the aggressive tactic on their part, so it was all a waste of my time. Will not ever use again, simply with how difficult it can be to reach customer service.
"price drop" is a scam. They just prevent the price from going lower and pocket the rest. Found the flights lower on other apps although on Expedia it just bounced around while above the price I paid but would "bottom out" for days at the EXACT price I paid for days. never using again.
I am furious with Expedia. I was trying to book a hotel for a particular date. Somehow alternate dates were suggested by the app. I'm assuming it was because the date I wanted was not available. I inadvertently selected a room based on an alternate date. Of course, I didn't realize until my transaction was completed. Lo and behold, it was a non refundable room. They are blaming it on the hotel being unwilling to refund the transaction, but my bank charge is to Expedia. Seems rather shady.
It's a trap scam. Expedia lures you in with what looks like a cheap flight + rental + hotel “bundle,” but it’s all smoke and mirrors. Once you book, the real charges start stacking up—resort fees, baggage fees, transportation, taxes, and restrictions that weren’t clearly explained up front. By the time everything's added, I ended up paying just as much or more than if I had booked directly with the airline, car rental, and hotel myself. Customer service? You're better off talking to a rock!
False advertising. Offers deals and discounts and then charges more than stated. Example: I used the "Pay Later" option and the booking stated $0 due today, then they charged my card 3 times and overdrafted my bank account. It's extremely hard to get a hold of an agent and when you do reach someone they say they can't figure out what happened and they have no answers. Use at your own risk.
Booking through Expedia is a waste of time and money. They are trash and I do not recommend them. I disputed a scam motel advertised fraudulently as a hotel and they said there's nothing they can do for me because the manager won't return their messages or calls. BEWARE. In response to Expedia's message, I HAVE contacted you several times with absolutely zero results.
I used to book with expedia and everything was fine. But today I have booked a hotel at night 11:57 pm and the system showed me that I have 25 minutes to pay. I have paid during 4 minutes and after that they sent me a confirmation for the next night instead of current night. When I contacted support they just told me that this is how it works and they have nothing to do as the day changed during my payment. Second operator tried to help but still nothing. Will never book with them again.
The app is fine, but I absolutely won't use Expedia again as their support is horrible. As other's have stated, they flat out lie and say they have contacted the hotel and the hotel wouldn't help. Contact the hotel directly and they confirm that they have received no communication from Expedia regarding the booking. Explain this to Expedia, with the hotel contact cc'd, and they just keep sending the same generic email back, "Unfortunately, after multiple tries, we were unable...blah blah blah"
If you really want to save on Hotel bookings or flights or things to do on your vacation or business needs. Call directly to the vendor. You can save more and cancel without penalty. For your own experience, check hotels directly or flights reservations a few days before your scheduled trip. Discounts and freedom to cancel without penalty. Example: booked a tour on" Things to do " in Italy with Walks Tours. Canceled 4 days prior to event due to emergency. Need to cancel 5 days prior. No refund
I went to book a room using the app. When I clicked to book, there was an error, and it sent me out of the app. Since it said I had not paid, I made the booking. I didn't realize until I arrived at the destination that a double booking had been made. The person at the front desk said they would cancel the second booking since no money had been collected. Now Expedia keeps giving me the run around saying that can't issue a refund, or the very least a credit. constantly getting the runaround.
Packed full of bloatware garbage. It's designed fine when it's not frozen or stuck loading indefinitely, which is every single time I go to use it. I'd recommend their site if they didn't force the app that doesn't work down your throat on there too. Just stick with Booking or one of the million other alternatives that actually do what they're supposed to, which is actually work
Used to work fine. I tried to open it, kept getting "Too many requests" that would not allow me to back out. Cleared cache and data, same issue. Saw an update, updated, now I get an error about an issue on their end. I haven't used this app in a while, thought I would try it again to compare prices. Not really feeling the need to waste time with support, don't need this app that bad. If they don't care enough to have a working app, I can go elsewhere.
