Falou looks really promising, but I couldn't even get past the first exercise -- the voice recognition wasn't picking up my voice at all and even though I'm not a native speaker, it would always give me 0% as if it's not picking up anyrhing I'm saying. I'm currently using other language learning apps with voice recognition and have zero issues.

Listen, I think the premise is good! I downloaded it because of the ads I saw on instagram, however, the app isn't on par with the ads. For example, Sometimes the microphone doesn't pick up my voice ?? like, it just doesn't register no matter how clear or how loud I say it. Also, it says "writing exercise" but you're not really writing anything. You're just choosing words. Sometimes, even if you say it right, it still marks it as if you've pronounced it wrong. All and all.. there's better apps.
Not terrible, but not great. If you aren't paying, you have to learn an entire section of vocabulary (such as food) level beginner to advanced before you can move on to a new section (such as travel). So you can't learn all the beginner words at once, it's just kind of weird and not for me. There other apps with better features.
The only positive is the voices they picked for the lessons. Everything else turned me off immediately. First off, their videos between lessons are awful. I cringed everytime i saw that bitmoji. Their advertising videos are skincrawlingly horrible and they're a Minute Long. Either let me skip or get to the point. I uninstalled because of one. Secondly, they start you off with hard words (for a beginner), instead of building you up from shorter, simpler words. Don't recommend.
I downloaded it just for fun to see if i can get 100% on my first language, Japanese. I absolutely do not have an American accent when I speak it, but I kept getting one wrong. I even tried to impersonate the sample voice. Also, it's really annoying that they keep trying to get you to subscribe. If you plan to, keep refusing until they eventually drop it down to 29.99. It might get lower, but I un-installed once they said my accent was wrong.
Lots of potential, but very buggy. The app recently added Japanese, which I was very excited for, but as I'm doing the course, I'm having a lot of issues. The mic isn't registering what I'm saying some of the time and the phrases/words are incorrect or do not match. For example, when you're asking if the other person speaks English, the audio is correct but the written phrase is just "Hai". These issues are becoming more frequent as I go and it's unenjoyable.
PLEASE BE WARNED!!! DO NOT BUY THE PREMIUM VERSION. I think this may be a scam. I did lessons on the free version and even though I was bombarded by ads, the app worked great. My voice registered. After paying for a year, I am stuck with a app that just doesn't work and it seems like a lot of people has this exact problem only after paying. I reported it, but they DO NOT fix it Went back to previous lessons that worked and they aren't working now either, after I payed for a year. 😡😡😡😡😡
Awful speech recognition. I'm currently using Duolingo and a few other methods to learn French. But wanted to increase my spoken lessons, this seemed like a good option. I downloaded it, got bombarded by ads to go Premium. Went for Premium, £20 because of a massive discount they offered. But now I'm just feeling I've wasted £20. It's an incredibly frustrating experience, the voice recognition is terrible and very inconsistent. There's no pointers to tell me where I'm going wrong. Don't buy.
I got annual paid access because I thought it was good. But there were so many words that the app didn't catch the pronunciation (the app didn't recognize the end of speaking). I tried French, and my partner used for Japanese. I'm a native Japanese speaker, but the app still didn't catch it. I tried one month, but the recent update didn't fix it. I requested a refund to Google as the app support showed, but Google refused it. It was wasting.
Half the time words are recorded as me pronouncing them perfectly. The other half they just aren't picked up at all. I know this isn't an issue with my pronunciation or my microphone. This is specifically reoccurring with one of the most basic Japanese words, です。I'm fairly certain I'm not butchering this two syllable word that I've said countless times while using other apps. Needs tweaking.
