So here's my take on FarOut. I've tried a bunch of different navigation apps for outdoor activities and this one's definitely one of the more full-featured options. The offline maps and trail data are super useful, and I like the safety features like the Check-in. It's not as polished as some of the premium apps out there, but for the free version it packs a pretty solid punch. If you spend a lot of time hiking, biking, or exploring remote areas, I'd say it's worth giving FarOut a shot.

  • Tons of detailed trail maps and guides for all kinds of outdoor activities
  • Works offline so you can use it even when you don't have cell service
  • Check-in feature lets you share your location with friends and family
  • Free version has a lot of functionality, don't have to pay for the subscription
  • Covers over 50,000 miles of trails around the world

Cons

  • Maps and navigation can be a little buggy at times
  • Subscription plans are pretty pricey if you want access to all the features
  • Interface is a bit clunky and not the most user-friendly
  • Gets repetitive after using it for a while

Description

Been using FarOut for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that gives you detailed maps and navigation guides for all kinds of outdoor adventures – hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, you name it. Pretty solid if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you can do – you can download official trail data and use it offline, which is super handy when you’re out in the middle of nowhere. There’s also a Check-in feature that lets you share your location with friends and family so they know you’re safe. And the app covers over 50,000 miles of trails across the world, so there’s no shortage of places to explore.

Look, if you’re an avid hiker, camper, or just love the great outdoors, you’ll probably get a lot of use out of FarOut. It’s not perfect – the maps can be a little buggy sometimes and the subscription plans are kinda pricey. But overall it’s a really handy tool to have in your adventure arsenal.
