Description
Been using Fig: Food Scanner & Discovery for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that helps you find foods you can actually eat if you’ve got allergies or a specialized diet. There’s over 2,800 diets and restrictions it supports – everything from gluten-free to low FODMAP.
Here’s what you do: just scan the barcode on a product and Fig will tell you if it’s safe for your needs. There’s also a discovery section where you can browse foods and recipes that are a good fit. Took me a while to figure that part out but it’s pretty useful.
Look, if you’ve got any kind of dietary restriction, you’ll probably really like this app. It’s not perfect – the scanning can be a bit slow sometimes – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out for sure.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take on Fig: Food Scanner & Discovery. I've tested a bunch of nutrition and food tracking apps, and this one's pretty solid. The scanning feature works well and is super convenient when you're trying to figure out if a food is safe. The database covers a ton of diets too, way more than most apps. The only downside is that it can get a little repetitive after a while, and the ads are kind of annoying if you don't pay. But for a free app, Fig is definitely worth using if you have food allergies or follow a specialized diet.
