It used to reopen in Private Browsing automatically, if it was last used in Private Browsing. As of the latest update, it no longer does this, and you must manually toggle Private Browsing at the beginning of every session. It's great that Firefox is an open-source, mostly privacy-respecting browser. But the constant feature churn and slight breakages are straining my desire to keep using it. What if Mozilla put UX first instead of chasing every random trend? Unfortunately, we may never know.
Reviews for Firefox Fast & Private Browser
← Back to Firefox Fast & Private BrowserI love Firefox as an app and on my PC. However, a recent update to the app has added extra steps to quickly close all tabs, and it's rubbing me the wrong way. I used to be able to swipe the app closed in the os and it would close all open tabs and clear cookies and data. I really liked that! Now, I must close all tabs manually and get to a menu where I click and then click "quit" so it closes the app and clears all cookies and data. The extra steps are annoying. 😭
A recent update has made the mobile version buggy with the keyboard on certain websites (such as Reddit); often, while trying to type something, a large box appears above my keyboard and covers most of the screen, making it hard to see what I'm typing. The box doesn't disappear when I close my keyboard or even close the app (I often have to force-stop the app to get the box to go away) EDIT: my tracking protection is already on default. This is an issue with the app's newest update(s)
Data collection is on by default. Brave and DDG are both more secure and private. Sad that Firefox has gone so far downhill. Response to Firefox's response: yes, but you could simply prompt during setup, even as opt-in; as it is, by the time I can get into the menu to disable it, it's already submitted telemetry! This is a blatant violation of user trust.
I really disapprove of the fact that sponsored bookmarks, and sponsored stories are enabled by default. i also think it's kind of strange for a company that's supposed to be focused on privacy. To have all the data collection options set to on by default.... it really makes you feel uncomfortable when you go to check your settings and find out.How long this stuff has been enabled without you knowing. The functionality really isn't that bad. It's just very annoying that the privacy focus
I've been using firefox since i first started surfing the web as a wee lass, and ain't ever had any major gripes with it since. My only issue with the mobile version is some difficulty managing shortcuts on the home page, but besides that it works perfect for my needs. Plus the add-ons are massively better than other browsers' and firefox doesn't seem like they'll oust em anytime soon. If you've been using chrome or whatever you can easily move all of your saved bookmarks and stuff, so DO IT!!
I love Firefox. I use it constantly at home and work. It is convenient, private, and open-source. The only occasional downside is that sometimes it doesn't work on certain websites. But that's a minor inconvenience and relatively rare, and in that instance I just pop over to Chrome or something for that website. But I much prefer Firefox's privacy and ethics to Google's or Microsoft's, and would take it any day over either of those.
Pretty much the only browser I've used across many different platforms for many years now! Very fast and versatile, and very easy to navigate for people I know of that don't normally use it! It doesn't slow my phone down even with many many tabs open, and is very good with security as well as the auto fill platform!
was watching a YouTube video, turned off my Bluetooth speaker, and went I went to press play on the video again, it wouldn't work. then any web page I visited wouldn't load. had to open the app settings from my phone's setting app and force stop Firefox. now it working. this is the second day in a row where pages would not load at all and I've had to force stop the app.
I like the privacy and results of my searches. The searches will often list the actual company address, not only resellers. I wish firefox offered a translation tool for websites in languages other than English, both for research and for travel. Also, some sites have tools that will not work in Firefox, so I note those sites to always open in another browser.
The latest update of this app is a security concern putting my smartphone and myself at risk.
Firefox works well. I appreciate that I can install extensions like privacy badger, always dark mode, blocking intrusive ads, virus / malware checkers just to name a few. The speed of the browser seems good, it works with most websites and any that I have issues with I can usually run in desktop mode and that works. I like that it syncs tabs and bookmarks to my desktop. Chrome is also good but doesn't allow for all the extensions and in particular ad blocking so it's a no go for me rn.
Best browser out there, hands-down, bar-none. Mozilla does not (seem to, at least) want to rule your life, to police your opinions or activities, to steal and sell your info, nor encourage anything in particular. A browser that simply works and wants to help you help it work for you. I've never had but one or two complaints ever with it, and they were fixed almost immediately or in AI's case, the option was added to disable it very quickly. Do not use another browser.
I'm really frustrated. I have used, and loved Firefox for many years. I'm a prolific reader, and borrow e books from the library to read on Kindle. Suddenly, this does not work with Firefox anymore, no matter what suggested fix I attempt. I hate the idea of being forced to use Chrome, but that is the only workaround I can find. There are important reasons many of us want to use Firefox over Chrome. Firefox, please fix this!!!
In this review of the Firefox browser, I am trying to give people an honest expectation of what the pros and cons of the browser really are, when it's compared to other top browsers like Chrome; Edge; Duck Duck Go; and, Samsung Internet browser. To start off, in my opinion, "Firefox is one of the best and most customizable web browsers there are." BUT, there are certain tradeoffs that were made, when it's compared to other top tier browsers and there's a setup and learning curve in the beginning
I like Firefox on my computer, why not my phone too? Wow. Not a single website I have visited has fit on my screen, and they won't zoom out. I have to scroll horizontally to read a whole page! I've been looking for hours trying to figure out how to fix this and can't find anything. There's laughably few settings for this version of Firefox and all of the Firefox 'help' info I've seen are either clear your cookies or "did you try zooming out?" Sticking with Chrome it is, I guess.
I'll level with you: Mozilla Firefox is the only web browser I trust. It's faster and more efficient than Edge and Chrome, Private Browsing is great for those who value their privacy online, and the many extensions can customize the web browsing experience. I have Firefox installed on every device I own for good reason. Some advice: download the uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, and Sponsorblock add-ons as soon as you can.
This is the only mobile browser to support some of the most-used plugins, but what it desperately needs is bookmark reorganization without needing to sync to other devices. I don't want the same bookmarks on my phone as my PC. I also find that, on rare occasions, during updates, my bookmarks will get scrambled into a random order. It's concerning that none of this was addressed and that a feedback link I was given as a response to my review here was one that doesn't work.
It's hard to find a perfect mobile browser but Firefox is definitely the closest I've seen. I wish certain things were more customizable (for example, it's confusing that on a normal site when you click the address bar it selects the entire URL, but when on a search engine you have to manually select and delete your search term to get it blank). Other than small things like this it's great, and I appreciate that they seem to pay attention to reviews.
I have been using this browser {on PC and Android) for many many years and absolutely love it. It is the ONLY browser that I use. It integrates great between PC and Android perfectly. It is the only browser that I truly trust. The update it on a regular basis, so I trust it is fully secure. It takes a bit to learn it fully, but once you have you too will find it to be the best browser on the market!
