It used to reopen in Private Browsing automatically, if it was last used in Private Browsing. As of the latest update, it no longer does this, and you must manually toggle Private Browsing at the beginning of every session. It's great that Firefox is an open-source, mostly privacy-respecting browser. But the constant feature churn and slight breakages are straining my desire to keep using it. What if Mozilla put UX first instead of chasing every random trend? Unfortunately, we may never know.
Reviews for Firefox Fast & Private Browser
I love Firefox as an app and on my PC. However, a recent update to the app has added extra steps to quickly close all tabs, and it's rubbing me the wrong way. I used to be able to swipe the app closed in the os and it would close all open tabs and clear cookies and data. I really liked that! Now, I must close all tabs manually and get to a menu where I click and then click "quit" so it closes the app and clears all cookies and data. The extra steps are annoying. ðŸ˜
A recent update has made the mobile version buggy with the keyboard on certain websites (such as Reddit); often, while trying to type something, a large box appears above my keyboard and covers most of the screen, making it hard to see what I'm typing. The box doesn't disappear when I close my keyboard or even close the app (I often have to force-stop the app to get the box to go away) EDIT: my tracking protection is already on default. This is an issue with the app's newest update(s)
Data collection is on by default. Brave and DDG are both more secure and private. Sad that Firefox has gone so far downhill. Response to Firefox's response: yes, but you could simply prompt during setup, even as opt-in; as it is, by the time I can get into the menu to disable it, it's already submitted telemetry! This is a blatant violation of user trust.
I really disapprove of the fact that sponsored bookmarks, and sponsored stories are enabled by default. i also think it's kind of strange for a company that's supposed to be focused on privacy. To have all the data collection options set to on by default.... it really makes you feel uncomfortable when you go to check your settings and find out.How long this stuff has been enabled without you knowing. The functionality really isn't that bad. It's just very annoying that the privacy focus
I've been using firefox since i first started surfing the web as a wee lass, and ain't ever had any major gripes with it since. My only issue with the mobile version is some difficulty managing shortcuts on the home page, but besides that it works perfect for my needs. Plus the add-ons are massively better than other browsers' and firefox doesn't seem like they'll oust em anytime soon. If you've been using chrome or whatever you can easily move all of your saved bookmarks and stuff, so DO IT!!
I love Firefox. I use it constantly at home and work. It is convenient, private, and open-source. The only occasional downside is that sometimes it doesn't work on certain websites. But that's a minor inconvenience and relatively rare, and in that instance I just pop over to Chrome or something for that website. But I much prefer Firefox's privacy and ethics to Google's or Microsoft's, and would take it any day over either of those.
Pretty much the only browser I've used across many different platforms for many years now! Very fast and versatile, and very easy to navigate for people I know of that don't normally use it! It doesn't slow my phone down even with many many tabs open, and is very good with security as well as the auto fill platform!
was watching a YouTube video, turned off my Bluetooth speaker, and went I went to press play on the video again, it wouldn't work. then any web page I visited wouldn't load. had to open the app settings from my phone's setting app and force stop Firefox. now it working. this is the second day in a row where pages would not load at all and I've had to force stop the app.
I like the privacy and results of my searches. The searches will often list the actual company address, not only resellers. I wish firefox offered a translation tool for websites in languages other than English, both for research and for travel. Also, some sites have tools that will not work in Firefox, so I note those sites to always open in another browser.
