Great way to save!!! Grocery items marked down to 50% off that are soon out of date or other reason to probably make space on the shelves. my favorite are the meat products, I get a lot of organic grass-fed beef this way and throw it in my deep freezer! I live in rural Ohio so only one grocery store uses this. I hope other stores jump on board soon!!!
Reviews for Flashfood—Grocery deals
← Back to Flashfood—Grocery dealsI have only found a couple of things I thought were actually deals. Most of the time it is something that is very expensive that I would never buy marked down half from "retail". The store already has the item marked way down on the shelf so the difference is at best 25% off. The app has little to no information about the product, often the size, amount, or quantity are missing. Sometimes you can zoom in on a low res photo to get it. The store will not even let you look at the item in person.
Doesn't work. I signed up and there were a handful of stores in my area that participated in the app. I chose one and put the items in my cart. it told me to add a payment method and it even offered me $3 off my first order with a code. when I went to pay for my items, it says there was a problem with the transaction. so I decided to start over, when I added the items to my cart and went to pay, the app said the code wasn't valid anymore. so it tried to charge full price. scam!
This app is great to get cheap groceries. My issue is that it says that you can use EBT on it, but transactions very rarely go through with an EBT card. When you hit the button to pay, the payment option switches to whatever debit card that you have on file, and it will charge that instead. Not a great experience.
I'm impresssed with the quality of the produce I've gotten. I wish all stores did a better job of taking pictures though. One store had stacks of berries in a paper bag, and all you could see was the flash reflecting on the carton. They were also stacked so you couldn't see how many were in the bag. Another store lays all the items out and takes a picture before packing it up which is a better option.
Sometimes you can find some really good deals on meats and I love the little variety packs of produce the stores near me do. I just check the app everyday to see what's on there and depending on what there is I'll kind of plan my meals around it most weeks. the app itself is a little bit buggy. Sometimes I have to close it out, reopen it, and then re-add everything to my cart, which is super annoying. That is why I took one star away. Over all I like the app and I would recommend it.
It's hit or miss most of the time! But lately, the app has been glitching. I signed out, Uninstalled, updated and it fails to reflect your purchases. It's hard to get authentic customer service if there's a problem. Most of the time, I have to plea your case to get a refund. Use at your own risk. Document your activity in case you have to justify a freaking refund. 🤦♀️😔 Now I have to check my wifi, oh lord! what's next? Please fix your bugs 🐛
This is my new favorite app & how I do most of my grocery shopping now! Local participating grocery stores sell food nearing their best buy date at a discounted rate! usually more than 50% off in my experience. Amazing, fast customer service! Everyone is always so understanding! It makes me feel at ease & comfortable ordering from flashfood, knowing that if I receive something that is spoiled or of poor quality, I will receive a refund, so I never hesitate to place an order!
I love using flash food!! The app is super easy to use & you can find great deals on some really good things sometimes. I like to check the app almost everyday just to see what's on there. I've gotten great deals on milk, meat, eggs, and snacks. It's great to use when you need groceries but are working on a budget.
Easy to use app that provides an easy and intuitive shopping experience. Checkout is as simple as tap tap on the screen (after attaching a credit/debit card to the account). I also like how they prompt you if you are sure you want to proceed with the purchase (when toggling between multiple locations you may forget which store you're looking at). I've been using the app for about 2 months now and I can't think of any improvements that would make the app any more useful. Highly recommend.
It's a neat concept that works well most of the time. However, stores are often clogged with non-food items, items barely discounted, or items more than 6+ months from best buy date. It can be very frustrating having to scrool through makeup, cake decorations, and hair dye to find the food. Support told me those items are allowed, and it's up to the stores discretion.
I've gotten boxes from Lucky grocery store only so far. Some of the produce was spoiled but mostly the it was good. The app is a bit of a pain, particular in payment. Today it hung on both Android and iOS phones trying to pay for one box and then when I came back to look for other items it turned out that I had two boxes of perishable produce waiting for pickup. Plus one star for a cogent and respectful same-day response to this report.
The app and concept are great, but the quality fails at the grocery store. Tops takes bad phones, writes no description, and every time I've went to pick up my items it is not what I thought I ordered. Such as getting different quantities then the in photo, different item then the photo (crumbled vs block cheese), etc. There is some work to be done to better the customer experience.
The app is super easy to navigate through and pick your selection and location. Prices are affordable, reasonable, and it helps when you are feeding a large family. and the purse strings are super tight! I love this app so much, I have shared with all my friends and family!!! Especially when times are tough, and your trying to figure out how to incorporate affordable veggies in your daily meal!!
Update: The app loads well, even when I'm 40 miles away from the nearest participating store. I would, however, love to see a Widget for my home screen. App is great! I've only had ONE problem picking up something that was no longer there (store's fault, not FF), however flash food refunded me and it was easy.🙂
I think you should monitor the stores that are on your app more. the majority of the stores by me are charging MORE for the food instead of discounting it. I cross referenced the price and amount on the app on the website and I was gonna pay almost $.50 more for something (1.50 vs like 1.05) that expires TODAY. I'm getting rid of the app because it hasn't been relevant or useful to me in almost a year. hope you get your issues figured out because it started out so well.
Nothing loads. The first few times I used the app, I was able to browse stores. I added a few to my favorites. I haven't been able to load stores. The app tells me " no stores in selected area" and to scroll down or search again. I work at a store with the flash food cooler. It was one of my favorite stores. I liked being able to buy boxes of produce for cheap.
It's definitely a good app. You save money and you get good food. Only drawback is that you might have to 'hop' stores. One store might not have too much but if you shop 3 stores you might get some of what you need for half of what you usually spend. The Veggie boxes are good. Only $5. I only buy Organic but they have all different types of Fruit and Veggies. What a Great idea! The map feature on the app is good too.
It is a wonderful app, except after the first week or two the deals have dwindled to almost nothing in my area. I go into the store and shop and find more "reduced" items than on the app. Now that most stores are relying more on self checkout, I don't like going into stores to shop. I don't get a paycheck from them or get a discount for checking myself out so not doing it. I've walked out of stores, leaving a whole cart of stuff since they only had self checkout.
I went into this expecting something shady or a catch, but honestly it's super easy and actually legit. I've used it several times now, just order, head to the store and grab it! my local martins just has me go to the coolers where they store everything right up front. it's stuff that's got their sell-by coming up, so I just grab it and cook it right away! absolutely love this app.
