Description
Been using the Flume app for a couple months now. It’s basically a home water monitoring system that connects to a sensor on your water meter. The idea is it helps you keep an eye on your water usage and catch any leaks or problems early. Pretty solid app if you’re into home automation and trying to save on your water bill.
Here’s what you do with Flume – you can check your real-time water usage down to the hundredth of a gallon, set a budget to track your consumption, and get alerts if it detects any abnormal usage that could mean a leak. There’s also some handy features like leak detection and notifications so you can get on top of any problems quickly. Took me a bit to figure out all the different screens and settings, but it’s pretty intuitive overall.
Look, if you’re into home tech and want better visibility into your water use, you’ll probably like Flume. It’s not perfect – the app can be a little buggy sometimes and the smart home integrations are limited. But overall it does a solid job of helping you monitor and conserve water. Worth checking out if that’s something you’re interested in.
Editor Opinion
So here's my take on Flume. I've tested a bunch of home automation and utility tracking apps, and this one is pretty good overall. The water monitoring features work well and I like the detailed usage data and leak alerts. Definitely helps you stay on top of your water consumption. The app could use some polish, as I've had a few crashes and bugs, but nothing major. Compared to some of the other smart home hubs and utilities apps out there, Flume is a pretty solid option if you want more visibility and control over your water usage.

When my city claimed I had doubled my usage, most in higher-tier pricing, I assumed a leak. After checking and finding no leak, I installed Flume. It's amazingly accurate. After...
it just gave me a leak alert and it turned out one of our toilets had not sealed correctly. just awesome
Works OK, but needs polish. Specifically, the graphs and charts that the app draws are hard to view. There's too much space between the bars requiring you to scroll back...
