I love the app!!! I just have the 4 stars because in the coordination game the one with the i option to move the wheel is extremely difficult to control. Also another game -where you have to move the ring- I haven't been able to get it. It could be me ... But also could be a flaw in the game code. Nevertheless, I have improve my concentration and in the process I have fun
Reviews for Focus - Train your Brain
← Back to Focus - Train your BrainIt was awesome free! Now they've gone to "pro" if you want to use statistics and other features. There have been a lot of changes as well, to games that were fine the way they were. Now there are a lot more quirks and some games freeze entirely. I'm looking forward to the update to the update. I'm sure they'll figure it out. I do enjoy the games and I see improvement in certain areas. This app is a great idea.
I am a senior and playing this game constantly reminds of how much I have lost and how much slower my brain works. Totally depressing. If they increased the time so that I could be somewhat successful and then gradually sped it up I would like it much more. Reminding me that I am in a low percentage isn't helpful to making me want to play
I liked the app before the update. Once it updated it no longer gave a training session you had to purchase that portion. I think the training should've been included but diving deeper into what you lack or give an extra exercise like homework to strengthen that skill set would've been better. I'm liking going to delete the app now because before it gave a sense of purpose. Now it just feeling like I'm playing games with no end accomplishment.
They said no data collected no data shared. That was the case up until today. In the past hour they made 21 attempts to collect everything. They have not updated their page about data, so they lied. Guess they will start ads next... So what are they tracking. 38 different items like your name, your email address, your GPS coordinates, location, zip code, your device, how much free memory. Nothing that we care about. They did 66 tries today. It's so nice of them to be absolutely lying. 🤥
Just a slight problem, on one of the specialized paths, notably "Reasoning", I'm unable to get past the third level, on path 52 of Reasoning because the number addition screen is blank but the timer still functions correctly. Update: I recently found out that it's just the "number addition" game that's sort of malfunctioning, meaning, that I'm unable to play it either separately or in the specialized path for "Reasoning".
I tried registering but every time I want to sign in to my Google account the sign in page freezes. The app also freezes whenever I'm finished with a challenge. Otherwise I just downloaded this app about an hour ago and therefore can't say whether the premium subscription is worth it or not. The games are also fun and just challenging enough to where I don't get frustrated.
It's so much fun! It has fun little games to play for specific areas to improve while providing graphs and scores to how you are improving! I'm going to school for psychology in mental health and have been learning more about self care and how we can train our thoughts so this goes right in line with that. My thoughts are the more we can strengthen our brains we can have more critical thinking and we can try to gain more emotional intelligence. Isn't it so intriguing? I absolutely love it!
Average for a game of this type (fake brain training). For true brain training, get one of the "dual N-back" apps which actually improve your short-term working memory, according to university research. Most self-styled "brain training" games like this one are false advertising. They contain a bunch of badly made mini-games which claim to make you smarter, but they mostly don't. They mainly train you to get better at their mini games, with little-to-no effect on overall intelligence.
Notes: -3D Figures: wasn't like it was before when you could see the shape. Instead it's all black and you can barely see the shape. -Find the ball: It would glitch sometimes when switching, hasn't been an issue for me as I'd still keep my eye on the cup but when it does glitch. You can barely see where the ball is after that. -Disappearing Balls: As soon as the ball pops out, I hit it. When the totals come out, the score makes no sense when I react but the rate at which the balls pop out is slo
Best free "brain training" type app I've found yet! There are no silly themes to it either, its been a practical and fun way for me to get my brain going when I'm feeling foggy with simple yet entertaining little games. Been using for a few days now in the mornings and before bed and no ads sofar! Even if i end up getting an ad here or there in the future I wouldn't mind its worth it. I enjoy the ability to track your progress and compare ypur score to others!
Cool concept poor execution. Progress tracker and access to statistics. Games became monotonous. Puzzles are not explained very well. Time limit on the memory puzzles can be overwhelming. How many people have photographic memory? App crashes constantly. Sometimes, it crashes during the daily test, so the stats are invalid. Now they want to charge monthly? No thank you. Will not allow me to delete my account which is very concerning. It keeps freezing the app everytime I try to delete my data.
Fun. I really like that I can see the areas that need improvement and practice in those areas. I do wish there was more variety inside those individual areas. Parts of the game are in spanish (just one or 2 words) but common sense basically tells you what the goal of the exercise is. I do look forward to my daily 'test' every day. Please add some more training exercises soon otherwise I can see myself getting bored after a bit with the few that are there. It is very enjoyable and fun to play.
This is the only brain training app that isn't behind a paywall, so you can play for free It's also designed well and it feels like it helps sharpen my mental faculties but I'll have to use it regularly for a while to see. I wish there was a way to practice the exercises first to get used to the mechanics because a lot of times I know I could do better if I better understood the object but I also think that wouldn't accurately test my base skill level.
Updated to four stars for bringing back the "One Line" game, one of your best. In the next update, please remove or limit the flashing red border and sound as the time expires because it adds significant stress. There's still no way to skip the tutorial for each game. Also, the long transition screens are unnecessary and disrupt the training flow. Thank you.
Bought PRO and registered my account with Google, but then the app would never load anymore. It would stay stuck spinning on the focus PRO splash screen. I had no choice but to reinstall it. It works now, but all my progress was lost, because it says I have no account registered with that Google account.... Also, you can't play offline, which is when I'd mainly want to kill time, on trips, car rides, trains, plane, etc, no phone service. Further, there is no permanent PRO plan like most apps...
DONT UPDATE IT! I loved this app and did my daily training everyday. Now that it's updated, I personally don't like the new look - it looks very child-like and now you need to pay ($7.99) to do what you've always been able to do for free prior to the update! The only thing you can do for free is play the individual games. No more stats or daily training for free. Oh, and all my progress was wiped even when it asked me to sign back in. Will be deleting unfortunately :(
Sure seems like their are flaws in the games. And the one that I couldn't remember the directions of, there was no way to go back to the directions to remember the meaning of the one symbol so I ended up getting flustered and failed the whole thing. Maybe that's part of the point. Just felt more stress producing like it's created without understanding how it could increase learning disability stress. 👎
STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP!!!! I didn't authorize this app to charge me & it did even after I uninstalled the app & instead only disabled it. I was unknowingly charged $8.65 for a subscription I didn't want which was higher than the $4.99/month charge the offered. VERY DECEPTIVE business practice. I have filed dispute with Google & my bank to get a refund. I look on app as well & there is no support for the app to dispute their business practice.
The free version is decent so far; ads are as obtrusive as would be expected with the free version of most apps when there is subscription/pro version alongside it. The one thing I found very frustrating was that the app will recommend a test/assessment, have you take the time to complete all the questions, but then tell you need to either pay for the pro version subscription or make a single time payment to get your results. That should be made more clear before the test is initiated.
