Reviews for Footpath Route Planner

This is exactly what I had hoped for in an app. I paddle in the middle of nowhere so to speak and I am not only new to this area but 68yrs old. I do carry a phone with a tracker turned on but I've been afraid to venture upstream to who know where. Knowing how much farther a bridge may be or some kind of progress as I venture forward is invaluable. this app is perfect and so easy to use! I love it!

Very good app - highly recommended. Stable, easy to use to plot a route, save it and export to preferred format (gpx etc). Paid for the yearly membership as I make routes for my local cycling club, yes there are other map making tools out there, but this works perfectly on a phone and is a lot more straight forward and intuitive to use. Worth the purchase

Fabulous walking app for planning and checking your route. I have paid version for OS maps, which are extremely useful. It does have an annoying habit of guessing your route unless you zoom in when plotting a route. That's why I haven't given 5 stars.

🔶️ATTENTION USERS: Be sure the app location setting/permission & your phone GPS to "precise",or you will only record Time but nothing else.🔶️ This is my favorite Route Planner. Easy to use, no hype. FYI If your route is "snapping" to the wrong trail simply turn off the "snap to" feature and manually trace that section, then turn Snap on again. FYi2 You do not need a data signal to record your track, only need Precise Location GPS. Save battery by using airplane mode.

The app is lightyears ahead of everything else when it comes to route planning etc. I purchased it, but kind of regret that I did now. I planned a route out, tested it, but there's only a dark theme for the navigation...which makes the app unusable during the day for me. I checked the documentation and it says it is to save battery. Whilst that is great, I have battery, I don't have the ability to read a black map in the bright sunshine. Add the light map (as others are asking for) please

I've been using this app on and off for over a year and subscribe to the premium version to add multiple routes it's priced just right for my budget. Footpath Route Planner is a wonderful tool to get me out of my sedentary funk. I like to plan routes the night before. Its no nonsense, just routes, and I appreciate the elevation graph. I would love to see the ability to add free text notes to a route so I can remind myself where there is a place to rest, go to the loo and refill water.

There's no way to edit existing routes, and editing a new one isn't vert easy. The app refuses to let me make a route without a loop (the beginning & end is ALWAYS the same). The interface is very confusing to me and not very intuitive.. very much so after you save a route- because trying to understand how to go back to the original page takes a minute and if you just go back on your phone it closes the app. And you won't even let us make copies without giving you money? Now that's just too much.

Hold on a cotton picking minute..... Great idea to quickly plot a route, glad i signed up. Plotted a route, saved it....... And then, I can't follow it,can't see individual turns and can't use the voice turn system..... Unless I pay monthly installment, why would I do that if I don't know if the app is any good, and I NEVER subscribe,I may pay for something outright if it's good. Come on .... This really liked like a good app too. Definitely if your into subscription services then worth it.

Dropped a star, as trying to make a route map for walking, half way through the line would not continue down some steps ( but they are marked on the map) , instead the line jumped to a path going in the opposite direction, then doubled back to the bottom of the steps, a route 3 times longer ,the strange thing is the line has gone down steps on other maps I've made . Overall a good App.

This is my favourite walking app. Quick to load and not a memory hog. Subscription is reasonably priced. Lots of great map options. love the public rights of way overlay in the UK. Dropping a star because the OS maps - which is one of my main reasons for subscribing - are often very slow to load, and today are not loading at all. I don't even need to use them much, but they are much needed when walking away from marked paths, for route planning and finding landmarks. Fix that and I'll give 5.

initial experience is good over a known 20 mile route on the North York Moors. I'm planning to use this instead of my os maps subscription for my upcoming Wainwright's c2c in August however I have a few small reservations: the 24 hr time limit on downloaded os maps is a concern - could do with a better explanation on that as a multi-day hike with no signal could be endex for me! Good job on the turn by turn voice btw, works great offline with Bluetooth headsets. could do with a better home page.

It's everything I wanted in a route planner for hiking. Simple and reasonably intuitive. The map itself is very accurate and the GPS accuracy is excellent. (looking at you, google maps....) Being able to draw routes with your finger straight into the app saves having to map on PC and export to phone, although you can do this too. Elevation profile is awesome. Calculates time based on adjustable average speed. These are just free features, I will definitely look into upgrading this awesome app.

My first introduction to Footpath was using it to create 2 weeks worth of walking tours around London. It worked so well! I adopted it when I decided to start running. I enter the route before each race and in the last fun run I did, I was the only one from my group that didn't get lost. I'm still learning new ways to use it and am currently playing around with importing and exporting routes. Great app. Thank you!

The free version is perfect for what I need. (looking to plan out walks/bike rides that are specific distances in order to hatch eggs in Pokemon go). it does exactly that in a very easy to use format. The app has lots of helpful options for users that pay an annual fee. Normally I hate paying to use apps but this app is the only exception.

I downloaded Komoot to plan running routes on my phone and after about 15 minutes of it producing the most absurd routes imaginable, I had to just delete it and try another. Found this app and had accomplished my goal within about 2 minutes. Super intuitive and easy to use. Highly recommend if you're just trying to quickly map a run and estimate distance, elevation, etc.

The app is OK, not greatest thing but not the worst. We do have the premium version for turn by turn directions. It sometimes will not navigate me correctly when doing repeats around blocks (it cuts me short by one lap). I haven't seen a decent upgrade in over a year where functionalities were added. Would like an option to repeat planned routes. When getting off route it oftentimes takes 30 seconds to send a correction prompt.

Pros: Nice interface for route planning IMO. Cons: Can't navigate w/o "elite" version. Can't save or track route, can't even count steps or mileage without an account - too much dependence on the cloud in general for my tastes. This version uses 25MB. Not bad, but most valuable features are unavailable. Map data depicts lakes/ponds in my neighborhood that do not exist. I'm not willing to waste time and money to sign up for account and subscription to try.

Simple, easy to use, does precisely what I hoped it would do. I've gotten a couple of timeout hiccups, but when I zoom in and/or make shorter entries, I have no problem at all. I particularly like that there are in-town trails on this, too, so I can venture off of my streets into a known local path. Altogether a superior product for my uses, which primarily is relatively accurately estimating the length of a walk or run in areas known to me.

Probably the best route planner I've used. The path drawing is by far the most seamless I've seen, and five paths on the free version is very nice. I've been planning routes out for dog walking, as well as trying to get a sense of what routes are like before leaving the house, since I'm disabled and can only do so much. I'm extremely poor right now, but once I'm not I'll for sure be getting the premium version.

(this for free version) Ok app, easy to use and good for tracking runs. My main issue is it will occasionally jump distance, meaning it thinks I've gone further than I did. Several times I'll be about 4 minutes in and it will notify me of my first mile; I'm in decent shape, but not that fast. If that were fixed, or I had to ability to manually edit the data on my runs, I wouldn't care all that much.
