Solid browser, blocks ads. (12/12/2019) (2/9/2025) update: multiple years of using this browser later, and it now literally is no longer blocking pop ups and ads. I assume it will do so again if I get the premium version, but from the bottom of my heart I'd like to invite you to eat my entire a$$. it's called "FREE adblock browser, and it is no longer blocking ads for free. Uninstalling. I cannot reccomend it in its malware adjacent current state.
Reviews for Free Adblocker Browser:Adblock
← Back to Free Adblocker Browser:AdblockI download this app a couple years ago because it was very good at stopping ads. I didn't have ads while browsing the web and it was so good. however recently they rolled in forced ads completely undermining the entire reason people got this web browser, and then constantly asking you to purchase a premium membership of this web browser so that adds go away.
I loved this app. For years I would listen to my music at night with no interruptions. Now my music stops within an hour because of an ad for a paid version of the app. I can understand that everything is monetized these days. But now it is unusable. I now I can't search anything because the screen gets distorted. Maybe it is my phone, but my tablet has been doing this, too.
it's wild. I started using it couple years ago, but now it's spamming the f out of you. it's so annoying and you can't even close their ads pop up without clicking on it. how ironic an ad block browser spamming you with their own ads. I used to pay 99 cents a month just to support them, but now I have to look for something else that's less annoying
altho im not a fan of all them ads coming up on the browser itself! since i think they block websites ads to replace them with their own, i think this app is not quite ready to be a primary browser, it malfunctions on some few moments, i still see ads on some sites sometimes, and i find it funny that with them errors i still get pop-ups of their premium when their app doesn't work right, but aside from that, it works if you ignore those ads they push to you, I'm just not convinced yet
for the past few months everything I open the app, all I get is pop ups to buy the paid version of the app and at times I have to close the app so the message goes away. very annoying. if this is the path, you need to remove the free part of the name. I will try back in a month if it still an issue bye
years ago it was great, occasionally asked for money but wanted a subscription. but it's been spamming ads for itself for a while now. but I finally gave up on it because the only way it blocks ads is by clearing all data, then it will block ads for a couple of weeks before letting them through again while spamming you to "upgrade"
I understand that the app needs to make money, so I'm ok with the occasional pop up asking me to upgrade. However, the app will redirect you to sites you have never been to and didn't search for. Once or twice I thought it was user error, but now it's pretty obvious this is intentional. This is very gray UX design to me that makes me want to find a new app. Also the bouncing gift is awful. Launching such a distracting feature for an ad blocker was a total miss.
Loved this app and have used it for many years. Mainly use it for YouTube but lately the functionality has changed: you can no longer watch in a mini player and most recently the sound has stopped working. Hopeful it's a temporary thing but right now I'll have to find another solution. Also for an ad blocker there are a lot of ads for it's own premium service
I've had this app for years and it does its job well enough but I've noticed over time it's started to push ads for their premium service more and more. It's gotten to the point where I just closed the app on accident and when I opened it up again less than a second later, it had taken me out of the tab I was on and opened a new one to advertise the premium service again. I understand needing to monetize but it just feels a bit much
I am rewriting my review because the ADS on this ad blocker are getting worse every single time I open the app, I get an ad for some stupid premium subscription, so like honestly don't even bother downloading this because you're still gonna get bombarded with an ad, and not even to mention that it's not even that good of an Ad Blocker. Because I still get ads on websites. And I wouldn't be surprised if that was on purpose. So you would go and buy their premium subscription.
Been using this for many years, and still my go-to. Especially for reading online novels, it's almost a necessity. The newly started requests for donations that pop up aren't the best, but they're not intrusive either. And the pro version is worth the price, especially since it includes their built-in VPN. Plan on using it for years to come, and would highly recommend. 10/4/25 - New update allows all ads and pop-ups thru on the sites I use this for the most...
I've had this app for years, and recently, it's stopped doing its job. It not only shows me pop-up ads for the paid version of this app, but it also started letting regular ads slip through. I can only assume that they are trying to be just annoying enough to get me to spend money on their app. but really, it just makes me want to find a different ad blocker.
I've used this for years, even paying the fee. Increasingly, it crashes on individual tabs and even locks up and refuses to restart after a force quit. Deleting data, short of a full reset, does nothing. It maintains no backup of bookmarks and such, so it's really painful to start from scratch. It's harder to recommend now.
I've used this app for years but it now uses predatory means to show you ads. When you type something into the address bar it shows your predicted results. It then pauses for just long enough for you to choose the first result (most likely the result you wanted) & then quickly replaces it with a sponsored website. I have been using phones for almost 20 years - this is not a user error, it is a deliberate way to trick you into clicking ads. This is unacceptable for browser advertised as "ad free"
Writing a new review, since it's been a while. The problem which I mentioned before still persists, the tabs would randomly leave their groups. Happened 3 times within like 2 weeks, not sure if it's cause I haven't updated the app or what, but I just did and it looks like it's faster than before, so that's nice. Another complaint I have is the "Close all tabs" button is right above the "Select" button. I fear I will one day missclick and lose everything. Could you please move it elsewhere?
The good: it blocks ads. The bad: when you try to type a web site into the search bar your result will appear at the top result, it then waits about a second and changes the top result to a completely different random web site. That way you get tricked into going to a web site you never wanted to. Very frustrating and annoying. Very close to deleting the app because of this.
Absolute WORST browser for blocking ads EVER!!!! Most of the "ads" come from Adblocker themselves! In fact, about 1 or 2 times a week, after launching the browser, they'll hit you with a full page advertising their supposedly "ad-free" browser! Also, they're ALWAYS trying to sell you the premium version so you can truly go ad-free. Puh-lease! The best way to go ad-free is to simply use Google Chrome.
I have had this ad blocker for a long time. I have had it downloaded on multiple devices. It was good it ran well. now after this most recent update rather it is a link or a transition to a ad page it brings up this stupid task center. You can't access the links you're trying to access. It's an absolutely ridiculous update that is very annoying and makes me wanna search for a different ad blocker.
Time for a new update. Most of the old issues I used to have are gone. I'm occasionally interrupted to beg for being my primary browser (for compatibility reasons I can't), or to show me ads for some service or another: yes ok. But the thing that really sets me off is typing a term in the search bar and hitting go, then being redirected as in the last .1 seconds before pushing the button they change "search" to "go to our selected ad page." This is basically a malware activity. Five * otherwise.
