there is nothing "discreet" about this app, nor do the alarms give you much option as to how loud they are (this includes when you're wearing headphones). The sensors will constantly tell you they can't give you a reading and to "wait 10 minutes" but then will not give you any sort of countdown or indication as to how long it's been. AND if you don't wait long enough then it tells you to wait another 10 minutes. This is a constant issue with these sensors.
Reviews for FreeStyle Libre 2 - US
← Back to FreeStyle Libre 2 - USI would give ZERO stars if I could. The alarm override is absolutely ridiculous and so incredibly loud that my phone is literally giving me anxiety. It is so loud when I'm driving that it startles me and makes driving more dangerous! I ripped the sensor off and I installed the app. I will never use an app that does this. Please, Freestyle, fix this setting. Allow us to lower the volume or change the tone of your ludicrous notification.
Like the many complaints stated, I work in an office environment, and the alarms are way too loud and unchangeable. Also, nothing has disrupted my sleep more than this devise, and I have a love/hate relationship. It is intriguing to have this kind of technology available... but I will not tolerate an alarm system that I cannot control. It's that fundamental.
So, is it possible that someone is simply not compatible? I tried Freestyle Libre 14. At first we thought the sensor was bad, and replaced it. Significantly lower readings than a finger stick. By significant I mean 25 to 60. So, went to Freestyle Libre 2. Was told the accuracy was much better. Same thing is happening. Last reading I took was a difference of 31.
I've been using the libre 2 for about 18 months. I always dread having to apply a new sensor at night because I know the app is going to SCREECH at me several times while I'm trying to sleep on that first night. It even alarms to tell me that alarms aren't available??? It also says you can choose custom sounds but it doesn't work. My son has the libre 3 which is almost as annoying but at least he never has to scan it, just once on a new sensor. I wish I had gotten the dexcom instead.
I really don't like how loud the alarm can be when the "low" blood sugar alarm goes off. I have had it go off in the middle of my sleep, and I don't like it. Yes, I fix whatever my issue was but if I could change the volume to stop startling me everytime it goes off. The app also fails, often enough to be frustrating. I've had to scan 5+ times in a minute more than once because it could not read the sensor.
Connectivity issues every time I change a sensor, volume adjusting ear piercing alarms (when it randomly decides to go off. I've had many times where it doesn't alert me when high) and accuracy between the sensor and meter is always a 30+ point difference. Also, why don't you make it more compatible with android devices? They're just as popular and used as apple. 🙄 ready to ask my doctor for a different brand at this point.
Someone needs to do some serious fixes to this app. First of all, the alarms kept me up all night long, every hour on the hour. No changing the volume or the tone so not only did it keep me up but everyone in my house. Secondly, I had to unistall the app because even blocking the notifications and alarms did nothing and it was still going off with no way to even clear it. Unistalling also deleted all my sensor data as well. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER....
The only thing I hate more than this app is pricking my fingers. It gives you an option to have the alarms not make sound, but it's a lie. It will just run in the back so it can play sound. The alarms have the most earsplitting tone (cannot change it) and you can't turn off the urgent low alarm. If you check and see a high or low before the alarm sounds, it will still sound a couple minutes later. If you dismiss the alarm notif, it keeps sounding anyway until you check.
There is some promise here. But... It will not scan when I want it too. Fails too damn many times. Maybe it's a fault of the phone but I don't think so. it does not work very well when the screen locks. The alarm actually does seem to work pretty well but it's too shrill. it should not be that striking to either the user or surrounding people. It can be quite startling.
The ALARM decibel level is unacceptable. I found no method of stopping it. Even all the Android settings, the engineers managed to figure out a way around it. If you've ever heard 140 decibels, you will understand what I'm talking about with this app. I have to kill it after I use it to read my glucose level. And as an FYI, there's ONLY one device per one disk, meaning you cannot use their reader once you've activated the 14-day disc with your smartphone.
"Glucose reading is unavailable. Try scanning again in 10." *10 minutes later* says the same thing again and again. I'll restart my phone, turn off the Bluetooth and turn it back on. It happens most often after I eat, and when I need to check for inconsistencies and I can't be accurate if the app can't provide me with accuracy in the time I need it the most. I've gotten super low during those times. It's annoying.
I would not waste your time. Lost signal is always going off and what's worse than that is that the readings are wrong. It goes from 69 - 259 in 30 minutes and I did not eat. Trust me, it's very inaccurate. I'm on my 8th sensor and still the same thing. I have tried unstalling and reinstalling, still the same. I compared it to the reader, it read the same. I have gone through this for months. I definitely would not recommend. You will never know your accurate blood sugar level.
usually pretty accurate which is a plus. Easy set up with insertion device, although I wish there was a way where I didn't feel like throwing away so much plastic I understand the need for alarms, but there should be other options for tones or when you can silence them. How the alarms can somehow play louder than what I'm listening to is impressive but when I'm driving or lifting weights, I don't wanna go deaf, it's actually quite dangerous not to mention annoying.
never works good, recent update made it even more unreliable and more obnoxious loud beeps and tones. take numerous scans for it to read. I am sure the response will be call customer service, but then you just get a screen reader that has no clue and does not speak English clearly. very disappointed in Abbott. so I called as they directed, spent 45 minutes on the phone with them..still doesn't work correctly. at least the rep spoke English this time.
Every night around 11 pm, it freezes and indicates "Alarm unavailable for 10 minutes," with a red banner, and it becomes inoperable. It also reads "Sensor error," every night for five to six hours. "No alarm" alao continues for another five+ hours! In addition, it stops reading the arm sensor after 7 to 8 days. THAT gets very expensive to replace, and it's occurred 3 times in the last two months. It has become an unnecessary, costly expense.
This app is terrible. Most of the time the readings are false (I had the app read my sugar in the 40s and it keeps saying it's low. I check my meter and it's in the 300s), and you can only mute it for 6 hours. Of course, it goes off at the worst possible times if you walk too far away from your phone. A lot of the time the sensor doesn't work, or you keep getting an error to check in 10 minutes.
if I'm asleep it's too loud man. it's annoying. I really don't care if I'm dying in the middle of the night. I want a way to make this app only vibrate my phone at all times. you have a selection to silent alarms. but not one to just set the alarm to vibrate. it's far more convenient to use this app vs a reader. but your reader is capable of vibrate only. why isn't the app.
The app won't let you quiet alarms permanently and it's unreliable. At 2 AM, a panicked, ear-cracking beep will wake you up to tell you it's time to scan. When you try to scan, the app doesn't work and tells you to try again in 10 minutes. Edit: I accidentally turned off my Bluetooth once, and now the app won't scan at all. I've tried restarting the app and restarting my phone, which didn't work. The phone number they provided for tech support is a wrong number!!
My issue is that it doesn't scanand once it's not scanning properly, the sensor will stop working. Then it tells me to replace it. They are expensive. I can't keep replacing them. I've gotten two back from maker, but I can't do that every time. I think they're going to think that I'm lying, but I'm not. They just stop working. Also, mine constantly says alarms unavailable. Scan sensor. Omg, I scan multiple times, still alarms unavailable. Then change sensor. I hate the Libre2plus system. It sucks!
