Reviews for FreeTone Calls & Texting

Zero stars if i could. What gets me is how is everybody getting away with putting their app is free when indeed it's not. Get rid of the false advertising just to get somebody to download your app be honest period!!!! if you're going to be free be free not just partially free. I cannot reiterate how frustrating it is to download an app that this is free with only get blocked by the subscription add to begin with!!!! do better!!!! be honest!!!!

Fair hustle. It can receive google voice verification codes, but won't show you them unless you pay $5. Also, while the ads were intrusive in terms of screen real estate, the ads them selves were of higher quality / less annoyed - actually clicked on a few. The hardest part to figure out is where you set up the initial free trial number (if you skip straight to trying to message it will seem like there is no free option; i almost uninstalled and 1stared this without finding it)

Better than Text Now etc... this free call and texting app is, in my opinion the better one that's free that I've had. There are ads after each voice call incoming and outgoing but they're short and non intrusive. The free text messaging feature has ads but it seems like they're only required when switching between conversations. 5 stars from me!!

Wonderful! I never write reviews...however this app has won my heart. I've tried many different ones the last 10 years, and none of them compare to this! It's the most reliable, affordable free calling option I've ever come across. This company does an amazing job with their product, and the ads aren't horrible, or annoying. I truly appreciate this app! One downside: our cell phone company charged us international calling rates even though the number given to us was meant to be a local number.

This is a good app. I'm able to talk and text both outbound and inbound for free with ads. I can remove the ads if I choose the paid version. Although, it may be other software malware and not this app, It does sometimes have a few problems, such as I did not hear the phone ring or the notification when I received calls, but, I do receive inbound calls and notifications; so far, it is the best talk and text app that I have used on both Android and Apple devices to date. I recommend this app.

This is by far the best Wi-Fi calling and texting app. It is actually really free, no hidden gimmicks or no hidden fees. The only thing I say that could be different is the ads. I mean you have to pay $2.99 to even register and then weekly, they want another $4.99. And sometimes the ads go over your messages so you can't see messages sometimes. Other than that this app is fan-freaking-tastic

It's free trash, but also my only number for years. Unstable and buggy. Bad sound quality, "distant" to other. Cannot pick up calls when phone is locked. Laggy exchanges so allow some time in-between. Wonky background filtering, speak slowly and make longer sentences. Delays when receiving some sms. Called the wrong number once or twice. Some notifications get stuck. In rare cases, nothing, voice or dial pad presses, will get through to caller. Super ad-heavy, slow to load. But hey, it's free.

Lots of ads but for a free number and you get another line it's worth it. Only thing is you'll need internet to make it work. Edit: There's delay effect in which the other person on the other end don't hear you until few seconds later. Also, If you're not a paying member, every few weeks, they will annoyingly send you a warning text asking you to make a call or you lose your number. I had to stop using this frequently because of the delay effect where it's difficult to have a conversation.

WORST TEXTING APP EVER. Bad enough reviews, but within 10 seconds I felt like I was on a scam site with multiple popup ads. A single click anywhere and the ads are taking over where it takes 6x to properly text a single letter. Anything you click, ads that completely cover the screen. And if you were wanting to use this for singing up to apps with an activation code, you have to pay premium to even see the message, let alone the texter. Nope. Never again. Do not do it. Waste of time.

Absolutely 100% unusable for talking on. Drops calls reliably, I realized the calls drop simply to give you ads, as the calls NEVER drop on speakerphone. Yes, a little banner at the top is not enough, they want to end your call so they can show you a full screen ad. You have really fast internet? Can download movies in 20 seconds? Doesn't matter it'll still cut in and out on any device on any WiFi connection. Makes you wonder why this app needs so much bandwith.

Was okay at first. Has a lot of issues. First, there is no search for text messages. Keep getting logged out of the app after some time. Due to spam campaigns, messages can not be sent because they increased their security to combat that. In other words, it's saying my text messages are spam or look like spam. Interestingly enough, I can still receive messages. Lol, it kind of defeats the purpose of the app if I can't even send messages or calls out. They need to fix all this.

It seems to suit my purposes very well. I was looking for free phone service that would opporate just like regular cell service. FreeTone has all the features of normal cell service. The sound is good. There is a bit of a delay so its possible to talk over each other when conversing. Just need to get used to it. You can send messages with attachments...even vide chat. If you have it turned off or not in wifi range your messages will be there when you turn it on. Bottom line: Its all you need

Somehow I ended up paying for the add free version twice a week. After emailing for a resolution, I found out that I had a duplicate purchase for one plan. I was advised I would be refunded but have not heard back since. I canceled one of the subscriptions yesterday and now, though one account still shows active, it appears as though I have no subscription. This has gone from a headache to a nightmare and I still haven't been refunded, contacted again, or found any resolution.

It works, barely. There are so many ads that it crashes VERY OFTEN in the middle of a text. Phone calls are dropped before I can actually answer because of again, ads slowing it down. The only good thing about it is you can text for free and there are plenty of other apps that do the same but better. EDIT: Forgot to mention this app even when I'm not using it at all for a day, eats up almost 45% of my battery alone. I've never had to charge my phone so many times in a day!

That app itself is really cool & convenient, however, there is continuous ads that pop up(even while you're trying to text a message, it'll pop up every couple words) and it's hard to get out of the ads and then when u do, it just keeps going back 2 the ad, so that part is frustrating!! If not for that, I'd give it 5☆!

This is an incredible and super convenient app to have ESPECIALLY if you're ever in a tight spot financially and are unable to pay your cell phone bill which unfortunately has been the case for me the past few months. However, thankfully with this app I still have a working cell and cell number and whether it be through call, text, or voicemail I still have the ability to keep in touch with those I need to. Obviously a source of wifi is needed but thankfully these days that is fairly easy to find. Also, even if you aren't around a source of swift when someone attempt to call/text you, you will still receive the text, missed call, and/or voicemail as soon as you do. There are quite a few similar apps in the play store and I've downloaded and tried out A LOT of them but this one is honestly BY FAR the best of the lot. MUCH better than even the most popular/highly downloaded apps of its kind. In fact I am genuinely VERY surprised that it's not at the top of the list or at least close to it.

Awesome app! Great quality and reliable 💯 No hidden fees, no nonsense. Highly recommend. EDIT: App now EXTREMELY ad intensive. And I mean ads that run long and you cannot even minimize them, you cannot close them, I have missed incoming phone calls because I couldn't answer my with the ads running. There are lots of other free phone apps without this issue.

I've used the app for a few years without issue until a couple of months ago when I noticed it wouldn't send text messages to some numbers. that turned into none of my texts going out, but I could make calls and was getting texts. I used this regularly so that I didn't lose the number. Then, when I tried making a call, it didn't work, and I wasn't receiving any either. now I'm being asked to buy a subscription for a "free" app? Such a scam.

this was a great app when I got to use the trail version. I was even able to receive verification codes and there were a lot of good qualities of this app but to only give 2 days free trail and it be so expensive I don't like and wish that would be changed. I would use it over text now if it wasn't so expensive and there were more free versions

Glitchy, and disconnects calls at random. Sends automated messages warning to call someone or your number will be terminated even though I make calls often. Sometimes the app just sends my phone onto the internet for ads even though I didn't click on any adds. It's pretty faulty, but the app is free. So don't expect much; at least you can make international calls.
