So here's my honest take on the FSWizard Pro Machinist Calc. I've tested a bunch of machinist calculator apps and this one's definitely one of the better ones. It's got a ton of useful features that can really help improve your productivity and optimize your cutting tools. The automatic speed and feed recommendations are a game-changer. But it's not without its flaws - the interface is a bit dated and the workflow could be streamlined in places. Overall though, it's a pretty solid app that most CNC machinists will find really helpful.

Pros

  • Tons of useful features like speed/feed calc, chip thinning, and HSM
  • Automatically recommends optimal speeds and feeds based on material
  • Made by a real CNC machinist, not some random app dev
  • Helps improve machining productivity and tool life
  • Free version has most of the core functionality

Cons

  • Interface is a bit outdated and not the most intuitive
  • Some advanced features can be tricky to figure out at first
  • Free version has ads that can get annoying
  • Occasional bugs or crashes, though not too frequent

Description

Been using the FSWizard Pro Machinist Calc for a couple months now. It’s basically a CNC milling and turning speed and feed calculator. Pretty solid app if you’re into machining and metalworking.

Here’s what you do: you just pick your work material and tool material, and the app will spit out the recommended cutting speeds and feeds. There’s also a bunch of other handy features like chip thinning calculations and HSM mode. Took me a while to figure some of that out, but it’s pretty useful once you get the hang of it.

Look, if you’re a CNC machinist or work in a machine shop, you’ll probably really like this. It’s not perfect – the UI can be a little clunky sometimes – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out for sure.
