I love Gaia, however the app becomes very irritating when a program is paused and starts up again automatically in 10 seconds. It is time consuming and irritating to constantly find where I was in the program before pausing. I wonder if this problem can only be resolved by paying for a more costly membership because if it is, that's a darned shame. Not everyone can pay top dollar, but everyone should be able to pause a program without such difficulties. Buffering is also time consuming.
Reviews for Gaia: Streaming Consciousness
← Back to Gaia: Streaming ConsciousnessThe absolute best. Totally replaced TV with this wholesome content. The app conveniently switches to audio when you close out the app, so you can continue listening without wasting battery life or being distracted if you're tackling something else while listening. It takes a couple weeks to learn what shows work and what shows don't. I use the thumbs up and down ratings as a guide. If it gets over 92% thumbs up, there's a good chance you'll love it.
It's great! I can stream to my tv and download episodes for when I'm offline. I can get it on my computer, as well. But, currently, I'm having a problem where a notification that the app is updating keeps reoccurring. I tried updating on wifi and data but it keeps coming up. And Google Play shows there is no update. •We can't find any episodes trying to download, either. •We cleared our caches, as well.
Smooth app, just that we need to have the app currently on screen to listen to the videos. Some of the videos could be listened to like a podcast. Other than that, it is very well organized and easy to search, and the videos are very, very intellectual and worth watching and learning from. I enjoy this very much for my self fullfilment and awareness. Thank you.
This app is just garbage. So just to start I had this app 2 years ago and even then it was plagued with the same problems that it has now. Downloading shows, should be a pretty straightforward process, it isn't. It won't play the downloaded show. I know this because if I turn off wifi or drive into a no service area it says I'm offline and won't let me view the video, but will play the audio in the background. Wish I could write more but the play store limits you. Would not recommend app.
I never watched much TV. Usually because the only available content was more of a joke than anything. That is .. Until now. I'm totally impressed with Gaia's variety of shows. I love the talk shows and some of the classes too. I love learning about the touchy subjects! I'm always taking notes on the books writen by guests on your shows to buy later or sometimes a book that they suggest. You should consider selling their books. I know I would buy some.
I love the content. App wise on my phone, only issue I have is when I pause it, and my phone goes dark, it pops the show back on but in the background... strange. And on my Roku, if I set a sleep timer on the TV, the Gaia app doesn't shut off, like the other apps do, and continues to stream shows and movies while the TV is off, annoyingly wasteful and also strange.
Love the content but my only complaint is the usage on battery!! In the settings, when I have this app open it uses 75% of my battery!! If I dont have my phone plugged in I cant watch a video for more than an hour and a half. Its ridiculous, even for a streaming app. YouTube only uses 18% of my battery for a comparison. I won't delete the app because the content is amazing but this needs to be fixed, ESPECIALLY since we have to pay a monthly subscription fee. There's no excuses for that.
The playback on my Samsung is rather annoying. Whenever I pause a video and then minimize the app, try to access another app, etc., the video immediately starts playing again. Basically, I can't pause the video and go into another app because every single time, the video starts playing again. I end up having to close the app entirely in order to keep that from happening, then re-open it when I want to start watching it again.
I love the idea of Gaia and all the contents! However, there are some errors with the app. I listen while at work so being able to hit pause and play on my headphones is important for the hands on work that i do. I'm sometimes able to pause it, but it will never resume play. Also, when get the video going and shut my phone screen off theres a few seconds of delay before the audio resumes.
This app has a lot of room for improvement. For instance, if I'm watching episodes of a series, done only 5-15 minutes long, I have to recast it to my TV with each episode instead of it staying in cast. Also, during a 2 hour film I had to recast it several times, any time it buffered it stopped casting. Fixing this issue will help a lot! Being able to cast the app and not just individual content would be the fix. The content is great. Very informative and interesting. Longer episodes of some things would be great, or instead of doing 5 minute episodes put them together into a 45 minute or hour program. I'm in the trial program at the moment, and I don't think I'll pay 9.99 a month until these issues are fixed. It has great potential to rival regular TV and apps such as Hulu or Netflix, but it still had a ways to go to get there. Content gets 5 stars but the app itself only 3 stars from me.
Pay attention to your account before the free trial ends! I loved the programming but ended up canceling due to my plan being changed. I signed up for the $11.99/month plan which I checked 3 times before hitting submit. Two days before my free trial was about to end I checked my account and I had been switched to the $99/annually plan. This would have been auto debited in 2 days. No one else had access to my account. This could have only been done by Gaia, hence the 3 stars. Very disappointing.
Just use the web browser. I've had this app on 3 devices for android including my new S20 and when playing videos from the app, it ALWAYS freezes and closes at least once every video and I've had this problem for YEARS. I thought maybe it was my device, but I'm still having the same playback issue on a flagship device. So yeah, ditch the app and just open in your web browser and save yourself the headache. Btw, I don't have any playback issue when using the web browser.
As others have said, the content is incredible and the app fails at what is supposed to do. in my case, I bought the subscription and downloaded a bunch of videos so they would be available offline. watched two videos no issues. my third video, the video just stopped for no apparent reason. would not work after restarting. I had to get on the wifi of the plane, and remove the video from downloads for it to play only to crash again. to developers: FIX THE APP PLEASE!!!!!!
The series that are on the app provides great information. But the performance of the mobile app is trash. It constantly glitches and crashes. Update: They increased the price and you can no longer stream from your TV or cast to your TV. And some of the content is no longer available unless you have the other subscription. Disappointed and I've had my subscription for years.
I've loved this app, since I downloaded it. It's truly opened up a different world for me. New information, I cant find elsewhere. PLUS I overlooked the fact that I had TWO accounts. They reached out to me and fixed the issue. You'll see they don't do refunds but my account is now fixed and the months I paid extra, they put towards future payments. I heavily suggest downloading if you're looking for an honest app with incredible information.
So far so good gaia TV is awesome in the content that they show. As far as I'm concerned the only thing that can make this five star is if the developers would make a away for you to access the series that you "follow" from it's own button. I follow quite a few series but I have to go search for them if I actually want to watch them, I cannot put an entire series in my playlist, unless I put each individual episode in the playlist and that's quite annoying.
Irritated, I logged in before the renewal date to check that the subscription would be ending, and it showed that it was expiring... and I was still charged for another year that I will probably never use. I had thought to use this service again down the line when I have time to spend, but after this experience, I am sad to say that's very unlikely. I watched the 2 series I was interested in and haven't been intrigued by much of the remaining content. +You may have to pay more inside the app.
Love this channel, I upgraded to the plus. It was expensive for me. But, I was tiring from not finding more updates within my interests and the plus section had a lot more options. It does work out to $24 a month. So far I'm happy with +. However, if I find myself running out of context before the yrs end, I'll be bummed. I'm not going to pay 300, then pay an additional amount to see something special. Hopefully they will continue to provide content.
I would rate this app 4 or 5 stars if I could download videos. Also, the videos crash pretty regularly. But the content is great. I love all of the gaia original stuff like missing links, ancient civilizations, and deep space. Edit- the app just crashes all of the time now.. multiple times daily. For 12 bucks a month you think we could get a stable platform to view their content on and you can't stream from their website as an alternative. Bummer.
