Reviews for Galatea: Books & Audiobooks

Gotta really sift through the trash to find one worth reading. I bought the year pass (I can't remember if it was $50 or $70) because BUYING COINS ISNT WORTH IT. The more chapters you buy, the more the cost increases. **This app would be better if they let readers rate the stories.. but maybe they don't cause they know it's mostly garbage.**

All the books I have began to read are wonderful so far. I've spent about $5 in points and I'm happy with my progress. My qualm is the fact that unlimited is a yearly subscription, I'd love to sign up for it if it pulled from my account monthly instead of 69$ a year. And if you intend not to spend I've had wait times of 6hrs to now 14hrs in between your free chapters. If they added a way to maybe watch adds for points or a monthly subscription it would be 5 stars.

It's not a bad app. It's the same pay to read shtick like so many others. My gripe is not being able to watch ads to get chapters. I've been able to do that in other similar apps and sucks either having to pay or wait 6 hours for a new chapter. I'm guessing their hope is people are too impatient and will pay. Which is another thing - you could pay for an unlimited subscription, which they try to sell as only $5 a month - but you can't pay monthly. You have to pay for a full year upfront.

The free books would be better if you could customize what is available there. It's rare to find anything I like in that section. Also the subscription thing is only yearly, plus costs more than almost any other subscription. Other than the only other issue is that only the first three or four chapters of any book is free, you have to wait 6 hours for the next chapter. I enjoy Galatea though.!

Decent stories, but terrible app. It takes less than 5 minutes to read a chapter and then you have to wait 6 hours to unlock the next one unless you spend money. No option to watch ads to earn points, and no option to get just a month of unlimited reading, they want you to pay for a whole year. And half the time it just gives an error when you try to load anything. Idk if I'm even gonna bother trying to finish the book I started before I uninstall. It's not worth the frustration.

I'm not a huge fan of the wait times. I'm also not happy about the lack of things to do to get points, other than making purchases. I get it. The app and the authors need to make their money, too. I just don't like reading books in increments, and I don't like spending a buttload of cash to get points that expire if they aren't used right away. The only saving grace... the books are pretty good. This is why I'm bitter about the wait times and the lack of point options 🤷🏼‍♀️

Edited again: It looks like they finally took advice & came up with a membership. They still have it where the points needed to unlock chapters go up considerably as you unlock new ones. That still feels skeevy to me. It quickly turns into 20 points each chapter. It's basically only worth it to get the subscription (that you have to pay yearly, upfront), which is probably the point. Stories are pretty good, so I think it's worth it, but only for the sub.

I have enjoyed all of the books I have read so far but haven't read a single one that had poor editing. [Inconsistencies in story, spelling of names changed, wrong name used when context tells it should be someone else's name, etc.] I wish there was a way to mark books as "read" instead of trying to get it to do it for me.. it is very picky and I can't figure out why it doesn't mark it sometimes. I also sometimes go back and then it unmarks so it would be nice to just be able to mark it again.

The Book I got as a tease during a game I was on. The story caught me up and of course I would download the reading app to continue it. However it should be waiting app not reading. Instead of having ads which are totally understandable to progress more chapters it has a ridiculous amount of time on a timer. I will be deleting it even though I was looking forward to this new author. Yes it offers chapters for money but there are so many other reading apps that I choose not to.

I've had the app for a few years now and absolutely love it. However, I've run across an issue I've never had before. I've already paid for and read Kidnapped by my mate and book 2 His lost queen. I've read them both many times over the years with no issues. Now, all of a sudden, it is making me wait 6 hours for the next chapter to unlock or pay to read it. I shouldn't have to wait or repay for something I've already paid for and have read and kept in my library for the last 2½ years.
