Been using Game Maps IRL for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you see your location on the map, but it’s styled like classic video game worlds. Pretty cool if you’re into that sort of thing.

Here’s what you do: you can pick from a bunch of different game map styles, like old-school RPGs or retro platformers. And there’s also a navigation mode where you can get directions to places. It’s got some neat little details, like the roads looking like they’re made of bricks or pixels.

Look, if you’re into creative mapping apps or just like seeing the world through a fun, nostalgic lens, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the map styles can get a little repetitive after a while – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out, in my opinion.

So here's my take on Game Maps IRL. I've tried a bunch of these augmented reality map apps, and this one stands out with its really cool retro game aesthetics. The map styles are super faithful to classic titles, and it's just a fun way to spice up your regular navigation. The directions and routing work well too. Only downside is it can get old seeing the same map styles over and over, but they do have a decent selection to choose from.

Location doesn't work, it shows me on the map moving but every time I use the icon on the right to lock to my arrow, it just shows a random...

awesome concept, but for the average person the premium is way too expensive especially when it isn't a one-time purchase. As for the map quality, not every town shows up...
