Was really frustrated with using this app with the dim lighting in my house, but when I went outside to try to take the pictures, it worked out much better. So will probably work quite well as long as you don't live in a dungeon, as I do LOL. Anyways it works best in well lit areas!! Just take the pictures, edit them.if you have to, and export them right away, pretty simple.
Reviews for Genius Scan - PDF Scanner
← Back to Genius Scan - PDF ScannerTook a bit to figure out a couple things, but once understood super easy to use. I export to my email and it allows me to put my own email in as default which makes it easy. The auto-frame is convenient once you get used to it. The premium is mainly for if you want other export options, or if you want automatic cloud backup. I've used it more than 100 times in the last 6 months. Note: no phone app is going to make it easy to scan a 50-page document. I use a scanner with a sheet feeder for that.
I spent the 5 dollars and now I'll never use any stupid scanning machine ever again. I use it to submit my assignments on a daily basis, and for 5 dollars it allows you to send scanned files directly to a google drive folder. I've even used it to take pictures of the board in lecture, and it allows you to crop the image so each slide comes out clean and straight. Scan quality is top notch as well. The app is a little unintuitive, but extremely useful once you get the hang of it.
Best document scanning app I have ever found! It scans everything, allows you to edit the crop area, the color filter, and the page-type of each scan individually. It even picks up dark, hand written pencil and sharpens it in 'black and white' mode. The only thing I could wish for additionally is that I wish there was a "insert scan after this page" option for when I am in the middle of a document and need to add another page. But, I have figured out a work-around so I'm happy. I love this app!!
I was looking for an app to keep digital copies of receipts, and was blown away by how easy this app is to use, and the clear thought the developers have put into the features. I'd highly recommend upgrading to the + version--it's a one-time $10, no subscription needed. I uninstalled the rest of the scanning apps I was going to try after this one. I ended up scanning the entire stack of documents I've been putting off running through the printer for months, and it took like 10 minutes.
Perfect. No ads, and I love all the reasons the company gave as to why. I paid for the cheap upgrade so I can export to various cloud storage services (like Dropbox). The app is extremely easy to use and it does a fantastic job of scanning. You can also choose to export only to your device if it's something super private (you can even encrypt/password-protect it). As far as scanning apps go, there's no need to look any further.
Update: the guy reached out to me the 4.99 allows you to upload to Dropbox or Google drive the could is a subscription at 20 something a month! You have to turn on the ability to use Dropbox. So that's what I did appreciate the guy reaching out it's a good app but I'm not going to pay for ANOTHER cloud. Don't pay... Can't remember you did! I paid for an upgrade and it never seems to find my email address. That's not good!
It works great! It scans everything in full color, and you can share it over social media. It doesn't pick up most erased marks, so you can make plenty of changes without it being too noticeable. The main problem, however, is that lighting can render your scanning to be unreadable. This is an easy fix, though, and is largely inevitable. It serves it job perfectly, aside from that.
Lifesaver for my online classes! I'm taking advanced differential equations with algebraic matrices, biochemistry, and engineering classes. I have to take massive amounts of photos and upload them daily and it used to take so long to get the perfect photo and then group them together into a pdf, now it is so easy! The best part is how good it makes it look. Before it was almost unable to be read. Now it looks great!
Outstanding!! I've used this app for a few years now & never once has it failed me. I use for very important doc scans back & forth via email as well as personal/casual use. Love too that its easy to store straight to my gallery. PDF or JPeg,,, I can't say enough good. Grab this app! Update: I just installed on my new phone and cannot login. So I'm worried all is lost. I cannot see where to ask for help, a customer support email would be helpful. I've upgraded in the past
Works well and is pretty user friendly. Use this app to keep digital records for college. At first I rated the app 4 stars and when i started using the app again I saw that the developers want to make the app as best as possible and are concerned with what their "customers" want. I personally really appreciated that so I changed it to five stars.
I'm scanning all my kids journals from their childhood, some artwork, school grades, etc. I like how Genius Scan will make me a pdf file. There is an edit option and you can recrop and rotate scans. And another to enhance or change the color. Note to self: all scans are in color, just click the enhance "none" option. Change the name of your file at the top. (just erase the one there and put in your own) The orange magic crop box can be a little finicky, but for a free program, I'm not going to
Totally life changing app. As someone who loses everything I touch, this app makes life so much easier. I scan everything from money orders, receipts, my kid's school papers (which used to clutter up everything because I had to save them all), and bills that need paid. Basically everything that is scannable and I don't want to lose. I just bought the premium version. $5 to support a great app is nothing. I appreciate you guys. 👍 A+
This is the simplest app!! You don't have to do anything but open the app, push the button as many times as pages you have and poof! Scanned, cleaned documents ready to be exported in whatever form you want through whatever application you want. Couldn't be easier. No set up either. You don't have to create an account to use it. No ads. I'm telling ya, it's the best.
This is THE document scanner app. I tried so many others.. one couldn't even keep pages in the order in which they were scanned. This one is flawless. You can't tell the document wasn't scanned on a flatbed scanner. It removes minor imperfections and reduces ones that are not so minor. It increases contrast so it's easy to read. I will probably send them some money, just out of gratitude, not because I need premium features. Love this app!!
Updated after the quick response from customer service. Much appreciated! I can export/share using Gmail, Signal or Telegram texts, although not my regular email or text. Raised from one star to three. Will test more. I'm trying the app again after several years. It says I can export manually for free. But when I try to export, it immediately goes to paid plans. I have tried the help file but still can't export the scan. It is not much use to scan if I can't move it where I need it. Any help?
Works very well, but I do not like being forced into an annual subscription if I want the premium features. The paywall is fine, but I'd prefer monthly billing, even at a higher cost. Unlike many, I will need this app only occasionally, so an annual sub doesn't make sense for me. Better still if I could pay once and be done with it, which I understand *used* to be the pricing model. Either way, you'll get no subscription from me. I'll cope with less functionality for the few scans I need.
It's not great in terms of user friendly at all. Even with premium. It does have quality scans. But controling where they are saved is a real pain and doesnt work. As well, aftet you scan terminating the process seems impossible it just wants to keep scanning. and then asking if you want to delete the one you are trying to save. not logical.
Just started using it. It does do quick scans, but it doesn't 'clean up' or adjust the document / photo as much as other scanning apps that I have used. But for the most part, for most of what I scan, this app is best and does what I need because it's fast. If I need a really high quality scan, I would probably use a different scanner app.
This app is on track to become the king of all scanners. My only gripe so far is that moving scans between documents becomes very difficult over time (especially if you have hundreds of documents like I do), because Genius just gives you one big list of documents to choose from when moving. I would love to see a simple feature where the user could constrain which documents they saw based on folders to make moving easier. If that happens, it's an easy 5 stars.
