Reviews for GO / Taxi app for Japan
← Back to GO / Taxi app for JapanGreat service, very easy to use. I've been to Japan twice as I am an American and always use this car service. They drive great and safely and are always on time. Highly recommend.
app seems to work well but it doesn't show on the booking how much it will cost in addition to the ride. there are tolls and reservation fees to add on at the end of the ride. not sure what else they will add on but that's from my experience. would be nice if everything was shown up front instead of saying it depends on the driver.
It allows you to set the Russian telephone number but it can't send you a verification code because "an error has occurred". The same "error" occurred last year too.
a little confusing the first time you use. but once it is set up it works as intended. however in some areas it is hard to find a taxi that uses the app.
First time, I believe. jet lag, still and I can't remember if I used the app before. But I had started to download the app. had it set up so, I must not have used it!
Great app, with assigned drop off/pick up point, and shows driver distance from us. Updates in real time, and shows the estimated price as well.
Useless App when it did not take any of my credit cards (Amex, MC, Visa). It ruined my plans as finding Taxi in Tokyo without App is almost impossible. Going with Uber. They cost more but are more reliable.
works most the time. but sometimes recommends drivers that are much further away than the actual destination. also it routinely put your starting position at some random spot. instead of where you are.
very confusing . multiple taxis arrived. I showed the number and the driver was acknowledged. it ended up that it was supposed to be another taxi. I tried to message the original driver and the app doesn't allow me to put my own message.
Unable to register from UK, yet it lets you select the UK region code from the world list? What's the point? It says register in Japan, How are you supposed to receive SMS verification in Japan with no Japanese number? I won't be able to use my phone number in Japan. I'm not putting roaming charges on. You should have registration in any country so we can receive the text verification before we travel.
I downloaded this app as I needed a taxi at short notice. It was straightforward to download, see taxis nearby and book a trip. Unfortunately the total fee was not the same as the quoted fare as fees and charges were added which I think should be in the quoted price.
I waited for close to an hour for the taxi, I could see it going to other locations.. thr app gave very limited options to contact the driver and the selection of messages did not have an option as to ask why the were not picking me up. The support interface was also close to useless. Uber is much, much easier to use. after a wonderful trip in Japan it was very sad that this experience was so poor, the developer of this app should be ashamed.
It works, I'll say that. It's expensive though, the original charge for a 15 minute ride was ¥2,500 on the screen. It changed to ¥2,900 at the stop for some reason and then the app shows my charge of ¥3,000 because of whatever fee. There are available taxis when I use the app though and it sure beats calling when I can't communicate with the lady on the phone.
Best Taxi Service in the World!!! Always polite, efficient, and clean. As an American traveling to Japan for the first time, the app is exceptionally user-friendly, the drivers are extremely helpful and friendly, and any language barriers, they immediately use Google Translate to speak to you to help you out. All of the below reviews are people who would not adapt to a different culture. Outstanding service, fantastic location tracking and better than Lyft and Uber combined.
I have a Japanese number, but only foreign credit card, which the app will not accept. This makes no sense. I live here but still waiting for my bank account. How do ANY tourists use this regardless of the phone number? A tourist SIM is relatively easy, a Japanese card not much. I lived in Cambodia for 10 years, that little country has all this figured out much better than Japan.
Even though you can get taxis in most high traffic areas, this has made planning our trip and getting around the cities so much easier. We encountered a couple errors with payment options, but you can always pay in the car instead of paying through the app. I would recommend to anyone traveling around the city. As a cautionary tale, there are some areas of Japan without cabs, so beware.
Totally useless if you're not in a major city. I used to use the app's predecessor, JapanTaxi and could always get a taxi pretty much anywhere. If you're in a regional town or the countryside, you are always outside of a service area. Other differences: You not only now need a Japanese mobile # that accepts texts, but this only works with a Japan-issued credit card, so forget your foreign VISA/MasterCard etc. Finally although the interface was English, you will be prompted with Japanese fields.
Mostly works like Uber/Lyft do in the US. Drivers are consistently courteous and their cars always clean inside and out. The app itself is intuitive enough, well-translated to English, quite intuitive. But two key deficiencies: (1) Even though the search for places works well, it asks you to confirm the address, which is impossible to decipher for foreigners (so I cross-check using Google Maps). (2) It doesn't predict the fare; you read the meter in the taxi--but it is always lower versus US.
the app largely works as expected. we had some lessons along the way. once you search for a destination, your taxi will go to that spot even if you hit summon elsewhere. also, apparently you can cancel your ride while your in your taxi even if your phone is locked ans in your pocket. overall, i am happy with the app. i just wish that these were communicated better.
