Reviews for Google Fit: Activity Tracking

← Back to Google Fit: Activity Tracking

I've been using this app for about a week now, maybe 2, for tracking walking. When I stop the tracker, it tells me the distance, time, and pacing/mile is one thing. However, when I go to check the journal, all the numbers have changed and cut about a third of a mile off, resulting in time changes as well. Why is the summary one thing, but the journal entry is completely different?!

Your app has changed drastically, steps, distances. Not accurate anymore at all. Been using you for well as long as I can remember. And it's just occured in the last few weeks to a month. I use it every single day. Always update it. I used to love this app, even got other people to change to it, their changing back to their old fitness app because their having the same issues. It once was a great fitness app, not so much anymore.

It's a pretty good app, I like tracking my steps and my workouts and weight all in one place and I like that it connects to other apps. However, two issues: when tracking a workout, I wish it were easier to log what workout you're doing. It gives you a drop-down menu and you have to scroll through the whhhoooolllleee thing every single time. I wish you could search your workout and save a minute between sets. Also, I wish it were easier/faster/more efficient to track water directly on the app.

I like the simple no nonsense interface that collates data from multiple apps and sensors without unnecessary bloat, gamification or ads. However, it's rather spoilt by random data loss and inconsistent syncing. It's annoying to watch your hard-earned heart points disappear in front of your eyes. Could be a great tool, but it feels like Google can't be bothered to sort out the long-standing bugs.

It used to track weekly miles walked. That panel has now disappeared and replaced with "Energy Expended" (calories I guess) which I don't care about. In fact I don't see any way of editing my goals anymore. There used to be a way of doing this. Maybe it's right in front of my face and I'm missing it. If I figure it out I'll edit this review.

There are so many bugs, it's completely unusable. First, I ran around a large block 3 times: Fit tracked it as a half a lap and then me teleporting through a building to get to my final location. I checked my phone just before the final lap and it said 1.25 miles, but when I ended the workout it said 0.8 miles?? Next, the weight tracking uses the absolute worst moving average curve I've ever seen. If you enter your weight 8 times in a day, the curve makes a sharp turn. That's just terrible math.

It's improved since last review. Mostly working well. Syncs pretty well with Health Sync so I can use my Garmin. Still lose two stars for no Garmin integration. Both companies are too big to not talk. One major issue. On the sleep screen, when I click a particular day, it doesn't say the date anywhere on the screen. It's frustrating not being able to see the day when comparing stats. Thanks!

Inferior app: the mechanism to bring in data is not intuitive if trying to troubleshoot. Graph autoranging is amateur stuff - scales should not change period to period unless I want them to. Makes showing progress over time cumbersome. Sport data from Fitbit device not captured properly (kayak becomes standup paddleboard, mowimg lawn is pool laps). Lots to improve. Update: No changes since last review - shows lack of developer interest in product excellence - they just want the data.

Not syncing with my Samsung Galaxy watch for step counts... always seems to be about 1000 steps behind. All settings are set up for syncing... once in awhile the step counts match, most of the time, Google Fit is about 1000 steps behind. Only using it because it is the only thing that connects my watch to the Noom app. May just enter manually instead.

It's a good app. I use a Fossil Gen 6 and while I use both apps Fit seems to work better. I like tracking my vitals along with my activity for the day. THAT SAID... I have a backlog of data and don't like weight entry set up like an "odometer" and the calendar is also tedious. Just let me type in the data please. Even better, you folks seem hard core on us talking to our phones, why not just me tell Fit, without typing/scrolling at all? And bring back desktop support like all your other apps!

keeps dropping me during the middle of workouts. It'll say I have a workout active, but then when I click on it the screen goes to "would you like to start the workout?" Rather frustrating. Very glitchy and buggy the last week+. To the point that it's just not worth using. Since it doesn't track anything. 👎

This app lacks some major features like the ability to edit your run data. On occasions my GPS will add a half mile to my runs because it loses signal temporarily. Google fit will not let you easily fix this. You have to delete the entire run and manually enter a new workout. I recently switched to mapmyrun and found Google fit will import that data. I was excited because I could keep my annual run total going but now if it messes up, there is no way to correct it. I can't even delete the runs!

This app used to allow me to add results from strength training, biking, etc., but that feature no longer posts the data to my daily activity chart. That's what set Google Fit apart from competing apps - it was mor than a step counter. Not sure if or why that feature is disabled, but the app holds little value to me without it. I will explore other options & likely ditch Google Fit. edit: Now Fit is subtracting steps during the day. Didn't think it could get more useless.

I use it to track steps. However, there are many issues with it! It won't sync to my Galaxy Fit watch, my step counter resets to zero numerous times a day, it is supposed to link to other apps through Health Connect and it doesn't. The list of problems just keeps going. Don't try to figure out how to contact support because, as far as I have found, there isn't one.

App hardly tracks data, and when it does, it's still intermittent. I have attempted every fix suggested by Google and third parties (uninstalling the app, changing settings back and forth, updating app, etc.) And the app almost never tracks my activity. I started using a different app called Pedometer Step Counter and it tracks my activity accurately and reliably. 2 years later and this is still accurate. glad it's fixed.

Wish there was a way for the step counter widget to update in real time. Especially at the end of the day when I'm trying to reach my target goal. And most of the time when I open the app it still takes 30 seconds or more for it to update the count. And sometime it won't update at all. Frustratingly, sometimes the app will decrease the amount of steps or heart points that you have earned. If you are trying to maintain a streak of days where you've made your target this can be very demotivating.

I just want to say, so far, outstanding. I have seen Fitbit charge a crazy price for their "premium" services when it's mostly the same as this app! I can manage my Fitbit data through here with the fit to fit app, though that app still needs help. This app only needs the ability to sync data between third party apps possible! Add that, and possibly a mental health section as well, since you have meditation and whatnot, why don't we add an actual journal? Or a health journal? Just an idea.

I seriously loved this app. It was a great catch-all for me because I hike, cycle, and horseback ride. But now that they're discontinuing it, the whole thing is going downhill. I have no idea why they decided to kill this thing; it was reliable, easy to use, and would sync nicely will other apps. Super disappointed because all of the other fitness apps look like buggy, expensive messes. PLEASE Google I BEG YOU to keep this app alive.

its ok for a hub. It's Google , we don't have any other choice. But, so consistently as an exercise tracking app this.. its garbage, sure it has the tracking tech behind it... again, gi Google and your aggressive monopolies. But the reason this is getting 2 star is because, if i start tracking exercise, its right there. If I want to stop tracking, its not in the same place as starting it, and honestly, if it takes me 4 minutes of searching when starting took seconds, you're app is Dead to me.

It doesn't sync to anything anymore. Google Fit is now blocking apps I want to connect to and have previously connected to. Data is inaccurate because of the lack of syncing, even when shown as connectedness. If you try disconnecting and reconnecting the applications, Google Fit will deny the connection, and there is no way to override. Google Fit is Junk!
