I've been using this app for about a week now, maybe 2, for tracking walking. When I stop the tracker, it tells me the distance, time, and pacing/mile is one thing. However, when I go to check the journal, all the numbers have changed and cut about a third of a mile off, resulting in time changes as well. Why is the summary one thing, but the journal entry is completely different?!
Reviews for Google Fit: Activity Tracking
Your app has changed drastically, steps, distances. Not accurate anymore at all. Been using you for well as long as I can remember. And it's just occured in the last few weeks to a month. I use it every single day. Always update it. I used to love this app, even got other people to change to it, their changing back to their old fitness app because their having the same issues. It once was a great fitness app, not so much anymore.
It's a pretty good app, I like tracking my steps and my workouts and weight all in one place and I like that it connects to other apps. However, two issues: when tracking a workout, I wish it were easier to log what workout you're doing. It gives you a drop-down menu and you have to scroll through the whhhoooolllleee thing every single time. I wish you could search your workout and save a minute between sets. Also, I wish it were easier/faster/more efficient to track water directly on the app.
I like the simple no nonsense interface that collates data from multiple apps and sensors without unnecessary bloat, gamification or ads. However, it's rather spoilt by random data loss and inconsistent syncing. It's annoying to watch your hard-earned heart points disappear in front of your eyes. Could be a great tool, but it feels like Google can't be bothered to sort out the long-standing bugs.
It used to track weekly miles walked. That panel has now disappeared and replaced with "Energy Expended" (calories I guess) which I don't care about. In fact I don't see any way of editing my goals anymore. There used to be a way of doing this. Maybe it's right in front of my face and I'm missing it. If I figure it out I'll edit this review.
There are so many bugs, it's completely unusable. First, I ran around a large block 3 times: Fit tracked it as a half a lap and then me teleporting through a building to get to my final location. I checked my phone just before the final lap and it said 1.25 miles, but when I ended the workout it said 0.8 miles?? Next, the weight tracking uses the absolute worst moving average curve I've ever seen. If you enter your weight 8 times in a day, the curve makes a sharp turn. That's just terrible math.
It's improved since last review. Mostly working well. Syncs pretty well with Health Sync so I can use my Garmin. Still lose two stars for no Garmin integration. Both companies are too big to not talk. One major issue. On the sleep screen, when I click a particular day, it doesn't say the date anywhere on the screen. It's frustrating not being able to see the day when comparing stats. Thanks!
Inferior app: the mechanism to bring in data is not intuitive if trying to troubleshoot. Graph autoranging is amateur stuff - scales should not change period to period unless I want them to. Makes showing progress over time cumbersome. Sport data from Fitbit device not captured properly (kayak becomes standup paddleboard, mowimg lawn is pool laps). Lots to improve. Update: No changes since last review - shows lack of developer interest in product excellence - they just want the data.
Not syncing with my Samsung Galaxy watch for step counts... always seems to be about 1000 steps behind. All settings are set up for syncing... once in awhile the step counts match, most of the time, Google Fit is about 1000 steps behind. Only using it because it is the only thing that connects my watch to the Noom app. May just enter manually instead.
It's a good app. I use a Fossil Gen 6 and while I use both apps Fit seems to work better. I like tracking my vitals along with my activity for the day. THAT SAID... I have a backlog of data and don't like weight entry set up like an "odometer" and the calendar is also tedious. Just let me type in the data please. Even better, you folks seem hard core on us talking to our phones, why not just me tell Fit, without typing/scrolling at all? And bring back desktop support like all your other apps!
