Will not connect to Google device. I moved, and it refuses to forget my last network, so I can't update the device or say use it other than as a Bluetooth speaker. I tried to delete the device, and even though the device is right in front of me. Then my device with all of the old settings reappears, and I am back at square one. I tried the help center, and that was no help at all.
Reviews for Google Home
I used "sync all devices" but it doesn't really do anything. I can't delete individual instances that are dead or not connected. Extremely frustrating! Plus, when I tap on the name of my home on the top left, it states, "Can't connect. wait a moment and try again". Well, I try 80 times a day and still get the same message! Google, why are you making "smart" homes dumb? I'm moving over to Home Assistant.
This app is actually horrible now. I have constantly been having issues with my Roku Smart Bulb LE, but they used to go away after a few minutes to hours. Now, all connected Roku devices just don't work. They work in the Roku app, but not in Google Home. Setting up a Nest Mini was also terrible. It made me download an app to activate it, but the app isn't even compatible with any devices I own. UI elements are off the screen and unreachable. This app really does need to be fixed.
Nest app wayyyyy better.... Camera control is awful with this app. With Nest app you could continue watching before and after an event. This app does not even record all of am event. Having cameras using this app is almost pointless because if someone is stealing something you probably wont catch enough to use for identification. When it does catch an event and you try to watch it, most of the time it won't play. Give me back the Nest app!!!!!
For the amount of money you spend it should work a lot better than it does. Constantly drops video never connect to the doorbell when you want to watch the live view. And if you need to talk to somebody good luck with that because it's constantly lagging and audio is absolutely terrible. by the time it connects they have left. The batteries always charged and I have an excellent Wi-Fi connection. Hopefully you have better luck than I did. Kinda Sucks!
I have no clue what you did, but my Nest cameras are constantly saying offline, or when they do work, a minute into seeing a live view, it says "camera offline." I have to keep clicking retry until they start working again, and then back to clicking on retry. It's ridiculous to pay for a Nest Aware subscription when it doesn't even work correctly half the time now.
Google used to be awesome. Now they suck. This app has been a bear to use. The camera stuff isn't too bad, but the thermostat control is awful. My thermostat routinely does whatever it wants - and I've checked eco mode, people sensing, etc. and it still suck. I tried resetting it only to lose my ability to control it from the app altogether. Google needs to get back to basics and make their apps work better.
The wifi network works fine 99% of the time. However, figuring out what the problem is and correcting it the remaining 1% is not at all intuitive and generally difficult. Google relies on second parties way too much. Google needs to stand up and write a comprehensive troubleshooting guide that contains the needed information rather than pointing to various random things on the internet . Also, removing unused devices from the network is not possible.
This app is SO buggy, particularly when dealing with mini's and speakers. It will say I can't change settings on a speaker because it's not on the same wifi when it is. It will say it's casting audio to two speakers when it is, yet when you view them it will only show one playing. And it will fail to connect to additional speakers when there is no good reason not to. Don't even get me started on all the things that go wrong with the speaker GROUPS feature...
The latest update breaks LIGHTS!! I can no longer physically add Philips Hue lights as new devices. The option to select Philips Hue is not even listed in the menu! Was it removed and you guys just don't want to admit it? Numerous phone calls and over an hour or two later, Google support tells me to call Hue and then get back to them... as it's a "not our problem" issue. Ridiculous!
