I loved this app, but recently, I have been having issues sending messages. My friends even say that when receiving messages from me, there is a long delay. It's getting frustrating not knowing if people are receiving my messages. UPDATE: 3/2/25- while there is still a delay in receiving pictures or videos. I wish I could add background pictures to individual messages. I really couldn't care less about the bubble colors.

I really liked this app until recently. I really loved how I could read and respond to text messages on my computer, but now no one is getting my texts! They appear "Sent" from both my phone and computer, but no one is receiving the messages. I've cleared cache, restarted the phone several times, and updated the app. Nothing is working. I think I'll need to switch!😩

I can't receive or send text messages, videos, or pictures. this has been happening for 2 days now. very frustrating I can't get things from loved ones and vice versa. are you going to Fox the issues soon or do I have to continue calling or using another app to text loved ones? I have cleared the cache and restarted my phone 3 times. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I have some everything possible. but nothing works.

I absolutely DESPISE this app. Maybe part of it has to do with being forced to use it, since my regular texting app has been removed, but there's no way to mute convos, no way to have certain people prioritized, so my family's texts are buried under 20 spam texts, cannot personalize each person's background, forced into 6 choices of convo bubble colour. I could go on, but there's a character limit.

generally good experiences, but I can no longer search my messages with keywords, I think this function stopped working several months ago, I just decided to put in a review about it. I used to easily go to the search, type in a word and multiple chats, texts, threads, whatever would pop up, even if it was the technical description of a picture, all words, media, links would be highlighted using that word. now, no, every response is, nothing found, no matches found or whatever. lame. hate that

I wish this app was better with searching for a specific message. For example: if I'm trying to find a message about an appointment, it does show that there are messages with that word, but it doesn't show the exact messages. It's very frustrating! Also, it doesn't show the time when you left a draft nor can I delete multiple messages. This app makes me miss the Message+ app so much! It was much better!

will not stay synced between my MacBook and my phone. got a new phone and it's even worse. some messages are only on one; some are only on the other; some conversations only show part of the conversation. instructions for syncing don't seem to work. got QR reader on my phone but there's no QR code on the computer and can't seem to get one to come up. it doesn't seem to have any other way of connecting them either. ugh. what a pain. constant WASTE OF TIME

I really wish I could give negative stars. After coming off Message+ which was great, this app is horrible! It is sluggish when trying to send photos from my gallery. It takes forever for the photos to load and scroll through and it changes the order of the pictures. I can never find anything I'm trying to send to somebody. I feel like I'm using dial-up from 1999. While typing, the window is small making it difficult to watch what you're typing and check for typos as you're going along. HATE IT!

Y'all are probably using an AI to write the code for this app suddenly aren't you? Something happened a few weeks ago. And it's been hot trash since. App won't load gifs, any multimedia messages, freezes up, I restart my phone, and it still doesn't work. Sometimes. It's missing a lot of core things I used to use as well. Stop focusing on features! And focus on functionality...

There should be a user manual with this. I've had non-stop trouble using it. Such as finding archived messages, not being able to save pictures to my gallery, and much more. I go to Google and look for help, and I get everything but what I need. Google said to see archived messages by opening the app and clicking the 3 bars. There aren't any bars. I click archived in the menu, and the app closes. I really miss Verizon message +. It was user-friendly & I didn't need an IT degree to use.

Google LLC: "We've recently updated the photo attachment feature in Google Messages, and the camera now opens directly for quicker photo sharing." That is the exact update I gave this app a one-star for. It doesn't allow users to access the full photo gallery. If you want to send a photo from weeks ago or earlier, you would have to scroll through each individual photo for minutes at a time instead of accessing your gallery and its albums. Please fix this feature. It made the app harder to use.

For how messaging apps go, it's okay. I was forced to switch messaging apps after the Message+ app was discontinued. I greatly miss the option to customize the background of each individual text thread and the ability to change the individual text tone for each person, as I used to have specific tones set for certain people. I also don't care for the fact that they limit you to 10 pictures allowed to be sent at a time. There's not enough room to list everything I wish was changed here.

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse... Want to send a picture/video through text? Well the new update just made it harder! The camera (which the features are glitchy af mind you) now takes up the majority of the screen instead of recent photos. No one is taking pictures from the app, guys. We're sending them from our gallery. I'll be keeping the review and side-loading the previous version until this is fixed, so probably never. Not like Google cares.

App worked well until the last update. All of a sudden I have to keep turning off my phone because the entire text screen just blanks out and I can't receive or send texts. I can see everyone's texts, but as soon as I click and go send a text, I get a blank screen. Cleared the cache, checked the settings and then decided to come here and see the reviews. Unacceptable Google. I have had all types of phones on both sides of the aisle and never have had problems with my meaning app. Do better.

I'm having the same issues as other have stated with google messages not working properly. blank screens, pictures won't attached. it's terrible. i will uninstall and reinstall, but I also absolutely hate the new way of attaching pictures. Much more difficult to use, labor intensive, the pictures sometimes scroll by super fast, sometimes you can't get to all of them. Please put it back to the way it was. It's super frustrating

For me, I think it's Not half as good as the now discontinued Samsung Messaging (for texts). Features are harder to find, the Samsung program seemed more accommodating, and the dang thing doesn't even have the feature of having its own Notification tone. It's the notication in your phone but for your e-mail as well. So when you hear the Notification sound, you have to check to see if you received a text, or an e-mail. The pre-scheduling feature isn't as good either. I'm just not a fan of it.

I used to be a huge fan of Google Messages, but this app is now UNUSABLE! The app is running incredibly slow, like taking 10 seconds to open a text thread. Texting, sending messages, pictures, everything slows the app down. I clear the cache and data and it works for half a day and then becomes slow again. Looking for alternative app. I have left the beta program as my last resort. Absolute Junk

it's not terrible, but I do miss Samsung's Messaging app. this one can't be customized, so when I change themes for the holidays, it just stays the same (boring!!) & I've noticed a lot of times, the keyboard will be covering my text box, so I can't see what I'm writing. from a functionality standpoint, it gets the job done, but it could be so much more fun!! I'd love to go back to personalized notification tones & themed backdrops

Update has been terrible. I can't send a picture. Incoming pictures I do get flicker so bad I feel like it's trying to trigger a seizure. Everything is slow. Read messages say "unread" for days. Only option sometimes is to delete the message in order for the alert to go away. Updated the app a few times, uninstalled it and it still hasn't resolved. I have the pixel 7 pro

I miss Samsung Messages. As others have said, I don't like how you attach pictures. In Samsung Messages, attaching a picture from the gallery & taking a new picture to send inside the Messages app were separate options, & I think it's much better that way. There are other bugs. Sometimes, I'll hit send, & the text will then show above in the thread but will also not be deleted from the outbox. Mostly, I HATE that I can't customize to match the rest of my phone. Let me make it cute, Google!
