I can't believe how upset this app has made me in the last few days! First off I have been using Google One for about a year and haven't had any problems until now. For some odd reason I have been charged for 2 subscriptions on the same account, 1 month apart. After contacting the support team, they assured me that my issue would be resolved and I would receive a refund for one of the subscriptions. Although they have issued a refund I can no longer access my account even though I'm subscribed.
Reviews for Google One
← Back to Google OneI have never been successful in resolving a single issue where I engaged the help offered here and I also noticed that my bill jumped from the subscription I purchased and now (all of a sudden) I'm being charged almost $20 a month for it. I don't utilize this app enough to justify this type of behavior. Because it's not worth more than the storage price of $2.99 which is all I need. Support has been anything but helpful. And it doesn't even have the VPN anymore. More than just a little annoying!
This app and service couldn't be more useless. You can back up your data, but you can't choose which. And then THERE IS NO WAY TO RESTORE IT. Google has outdone itself in the worst service department. And as if that weren't enough, the app is riddled with popups and ads for an irrelevant "upgrade" to what must be an even more useless version of the service.
The app is incredibly helpful, especially if you have a slightly older phone or other device that may have less internal storage space so that's where One comes in. Store photos, which is where the majority of my space gets used, but also any other media or other things like documents. I would have had to buy a new phone or store on a thumb drive and I personally lose those almost as soon as I get it. It's a great tool!
Useful app for backing up your data. Except there's no way to set the backup frequency so it often goes 5 or 6 days between backups. Also when it backs-up it monopolizes your WiFi bandwidth so you can't do anything else for a while. Would be better if you could set the backup frequency (every day? every few hours?) or else tell it a convenient time to backup (say, 3am?). As is it's useful but the data backup is not well thought out.
I had originally gotten Google one for the extra storage and magic photo editor. Had a bunch of other benefits, but I didn't use em. It all used to work under the one subscription. I still have my storage, thankfully. But lately the photo editor hadn't been working. So I got curious enough to look, and now it's under an extra "premium subscription" option that hadn't been there when I signed up 😭 when will it end?
It's a decent app, it's not quite all in one as I would like. When I'm trying to clear up space it's hard because I can only see the thumbnail of pictures and I can't watch videos. Also I wish there was more levels to storage. I don't need 50gbs, it took me years to use 15 so to be able to add just about 10 more for a monthly or yearly fee, or even better of one time fee would be great.
This fairly price service is buggy, lacking in some basic functionalities, and there's basically no tech support. Very disappointed with Google. I switched to Google One and Google Drive to replace the also-buggy Microsoft Drive, and was rather appalled to find out that (1) you cannot select folders for offline access, only specific files, one by one; (2) you can't save files into Google Drive from an Android device, or at least not if the device is from Samsung. Ridiculous!
Got a Google One subscription specifically to back up my phone before I reset it. I made sure it was 100% backed up through Google One before I reset it, but it didn't back up my messages, texts, or contacts,or even the app data (which it specifically states it backs up!) which is the whole reason I got it! The pros were the customer service was fairly fast and very nice. Ultimately, they didn't have a solution, & I ended up having to get a new phone, which still didn't properly restore my data
Not worth it. Spent hours online with Support just transferred back and forth between departments; never addressed issues; lost in the shuffle. Many wasted emails back and forth. They give up at some point after just telling me to reset and reinstall every time, and I'm like, "yea, we have been through this before. Why do you have no record of it." Literally every time I seek Support it's like the first time. It's a Kafkaesque nightmare far worse than any problem I originally saught help for.
I dont even know where to begin. No versatility in choosing what to back up and what not to back up. No ease of clean up. Risk of deleting important photos. No ability to delete specifically backed up (cloud) storage without simultaneously deleting photos from device. All so that it's just easier to upgrade your storage plan so you don't have to deal with the hassle. Money $$$$
Waste of an app - it's the exact information available through your account settings. Worse, it's a massive advertisement to buy more storage. The most obvious thing lacking: a RESTORE button. What's the point of having a backup - and the app has all kinds of backup options - if I can't RESTORE the data??! I wanted to use a backup to transfer data to another phone;. nope, not an option without a hard reset. Huh?!! Even if I wanted to use the backup on the same phone. Nope, hard reset.
I have a paid account and recently upgraded to 2TB and I still cannot control or see what I can or cannot backup, even when selecting 'see details.' The 'details' are basically turning on or off 3 things: data, multimedia messages or photos/videos. So, if you want to see if a certain folder is being backed up, you can't. If you want to see if your memory card is included in the backup, you cannot. For such a big company with so many geniuses, it is baffling on how little thought is put into so many things.
I Wish the App appearance was more consistent across my devices. Each device shows different info and data, than the other devices. Some of them have all devices listed, some list half. Stove have clear "back up now" buttons, most don't. I don't know how to find my backed up data on any of them. And I pay for the extra data storage that I may, or may not, be able to find when I need it.
Clearly an advertisement to get you to buy more storage space. Doesn't offer any additional features or settings then what is already in the phone. I tried app to schedule backups on my Android -which you can't do. The phone must be charging and idle for 2 hours. Besides knowing that it's best to keep your battery between 20 and 80% for longevity, in an era of fast charging and wireless charging, "idle for 2 hours" is never going to happen. We need to be able to schedule or change the idle time.
I have been trying for months to get a refund on this 19.99 storage fee I've been charged and never authorized. The month before it was 2.99, it went up and. I. was not told, asked , or informed about. the huge jump in the fee. I am very dissatisfied. with not being refunded after requesting it several times and explaining that I didn't approve the price jump.
It's not what I thought it was, but that's on me. I originally subscribed for the 2tb storage, thinking i could back up all of my devices, including my PC. Unfortunately, unless I overlooked something, you can only use it to back up your android devices; phone, tablet, chromebook, etc. The app otherwise works exactly how it's supposed to do, I just can't fathom needing all that extra storage for just my phone.
Not impressed. Been paying a monthly premium, switched to a new phone, and apparently my old phone had everything backed up except the SMS history (even though it's turned on to back those up). Talked to Google One customer service several times and they've been looking into this issue for almost a month and even got snappy with me that I'm not patient enough. Is it too much to ask to be able to transfer my data from one device to another, especially if I've been paying for storage?
Limited choices. When I back up my phone. I want to back up the essentials, not all of the apps or programs on my phone. Google 1 doesn't let me do that - it's all or nothing, so it's usefulness is limited. Most apps, I can download again & I get my info back by logging in to my account, so I don't need to back them up. But Google 1 makes me back everything up (or nothing) so it's wasteful. Google also has much less storage capacity than Yahoo or Microsoft, so it's always "full."
I've had this about a year. The description reads: "Automatically back up the important things on your phone, like photos, contacts and messages... notice it says "like." Now I personally regard my calendar as an important thing. I accidentally deleted my calendar on another device. had a rude awakening that the backup DID NOT include calendar nor does it have the capacity to include the calendar. in fact you need a non Google app in order to be able to import and export a calendar back up.
