It is convenient to get signed in for a haircut. Unfortunately, the information doesn't seem to be accurate or consistent. For example, I check in and it said I was 4th in line with a 19 minute wait, but a few minutes later, it refreshes and says I'm 5th in line with a 28 minute wait. I've had it claim 0 minutes and when I show up within a couple minutes, I end up waiting for awhile. Not sure if that is an app or store problem.

Your check in window should never be reduced if the wait time drops. I would like to be able to set a notification time letting me know when I have X min. left. An option for something like a 5 min. extension to the check in time would be great to say you ARE on your way.
This app has been excellent - always works when I need it, always remembers who I am from JUST my phone number (no mandatory account that's really just an excuse to spam you). And they do a modern wait list RIGHT! When you check in, you're added next in line, along with people showing up in person to check in. If you're not there when you're number is called, they simply take the next person and leave you at the top. This is fair, reasonable, and sufficiently tolerant to unexpected delays.
Multiple tims, I will check in online and by the time I get to the location my name is no longer on the wait list, especially when I arrive within an hour of the store closing, today 35 min before they closed, with an online check in more than an hour of the store closing. It is like if you are not there the minute there is an availability you are kicked off the list. To improve on this app, they should give a buffer on time if if you retort that there is a buffer on time then extend the buffer.
The only thing this app is good for is giving you an idea of how busy a store is. The "check-in" feature doesn't actually check you in. You're not checked in until you get to the store, and by that time others may have shown up and bumped your spot in line. Today I checked in on the app and it told me the wait time was 15 minutes. I left my house after I checked in on the app and got to the store about 10 mins later. When I arrived they told me that the wait time would be 25 mins. Frustrating!
Somethings messed up with the online check-in and timing. The location I checked into online, showed an estimated wait of 50 minutes. No problem I thought, 15-20 minute drive to get there, shouldn't be a long wait, 30-35 minutes. I get there and the time was 95 minutes. It added an hour. What's the point of using online check-in and this app. Great Clips, you could probably save money by dropping this app and getting rid of the developers...
The new version seems to take a l-o-n-g time to open. It also has trouble displaying any of the data on the home screen or salon list when connected to my wifi but when I connect to 5G is slow but gets the job done. (Yes, I have tested my wifi, even with other apps on the same phone, and all is ok.) Older versions were nice and snappy. Also I find discrepancies between the wait times for each salon between the times shown on the salon list and on the map.
Much as is the case with most apps, this one isn't perfect, however it does provide an indication of the wait time and the opportunity to sign in to get on the wait list. it would be better if it designated individual operators by name and their hours of availability (nothing is more frustrating than to find one's preferred provider to be on lunch break upon arrival), so as to accommodate the ability to exercise one's preferred choice, if any.
Wait time off, where's reminder? I got to the store with five minutes before my expected time, and found I was at the back of a line and would be waiting at least 20 minutes. It's not as bad as some reviews here show, but why estimate times if you're not going to be accurate? The stylists were working at a good pace, not slouching, so it seems like it's your app that has problems, not a user error. Also, I used to rely on your reminder feature, but that seems to have disappeared w/o warning.
Easy to find a cut, useless "check-in" feature. Like being able to find the closest place without a line but we found out today that checking in through the app doesn't h l ld a place in line. When you show up and check-in in-person then the times are accurate. We timed the initial 35 minute wait to arrive 10 minutes early...but upon arriving the time jumped to 29 minutes because someone had arrived before us...so I never checked in, what bunk.
Your update is terrible. I have 2 locations about equal distance away. One shows 30 minutes wait and the other 0. When I select the one with 0 it then confirms me at 39 minutes. Then it goes up to 42 minutes after it had been about 5 minutes after I got the 39 minute wait time. My time has been wasted which never happened before and I have used Great Clips exclusively for years. This might be what changes my loyalty. There are other options. Apps are supposed to save me time, not cost me time.
Useless scheduling algorithm!! I live close to great clips, I usually head there when the app says the wait time is 7 minutes, when I arrive it magically jumps to 15-20 minutes, and it takes more than that to actually start my haircut, it never fails. I understand this can happen once in a while, but it happens all the time. I am better off walking in.
Is convenient when it works. Is very inconvenient when it doesn't. I've had the app "bug" and lose my information and spot in line on days when I'm very crunched for time. Would recommend email confirmations as there is currently no external record of the time slot estimates or check-ins. I've checked in with a few minute wait time only to get to the shop and see my name not on the list with a new 40 minute wait time.
For more than a year it was a good app, allowing me to check in from home and be on the top of the line when arrived. However, for about the last two months, the time prediction mechanism is clearly broken, several family members got issues. I checked in from home when it was 52 min to wait and spent 40 min to get there. On arrival it was 53 min waiting. With that precision, the app makes little sense.
Not always the best at accurately estimating wait time when you check in ahead. There's been several times when I went through the app's process, said it was 0-5 minutes wait, and it's a lot longer. It needs to have a better algorithm to catch real-time data, such as stylists present, average work time, number of customers currently being serviced, etc.
I checked in with 21 minutes after 15 minutes drive there checked in it went to 47 minutes. The app is not as accurate as it used to be. This feature is why I started going here and I just purchased almost 2 years of prepaid haircuts. This is the 2nd time a delay like this happened. I would have chosen another location near my other shopping. Not happy!!!!! Oh and not all places take the prepaid cards and you don't know until after. They said it because 1 person left.
Meh, I see nothing so far that justifies a redesign. If anything, it's less intuitive than the older app. I had two salons listed as favorites that I no longer visit. But I had to stumble upon the method for removing them from my favorites. (The Help option had no info about how to do that.) I tried pressing the star, long-pressing the entry, going to account settings, etc. Then I (accidentally) slid the favorite to the left and it deleted. A visual clue indicating that would've been nice.
Previously I was very happy with this app, and used it frequently. However, several months ago it started saying that online check in was not available. I mentioned this multiple times when going onsite for my haircuts. I tried uninstalling and reloading the app. But the problem persists. I will probably switch to another company -- not because of poor service in-store, but because of poorly functioning technology that is forcing me to gamble with my schedule due to no online check in.
Completely broken. Can't even use at all. I tried updating - didn't work. So I uninstalled and reinstalled. Still doesn't work. Just freezes on splash screen that says "Great Clips - It's Gonna Be Great" Problem is... can't even get a haircut as a walk-in anymore (even when I use the app to reserve a slot, it's over an hour wait usually!) Been a customer for over a decade... but guess I have to find a new place to cut my hair
Need ability to see first names of stylists currently working along with years of experience & ability to book with the stylist you want. About 33% of the stylists that work here are good, the other 66% aren't, so it's a total crapshoot. One good haircut out of three prompted this review. How I wish I was just 1 person earlier the other day & I would have gotten the good stylist! 😠
