Ok so app is horrible to navigate always buddy and I've already had 2 issues with them within a month. One time they did not deliver my box because theu had some kind of a system error. Second time they don't skip a week I clearly skipped moreover I receive the charge 2 days earlier then expected because they've changed it in their system due to holidays. After calling customer support there was nothing he could do for me and he didn't see the issue and couldn't cancel the order. Unsubscribed.

We have had a couple times where a protein bag was punctured but it did not effect the quality. the only change I would make is making it easier to pause or unsubscribe from the app (we are rotating kits untill we find our favorite, and while this is currently out favorite I would like to pause or unsubscribe while we mix it up).
I love all the time saved by not having to prepare the sauces, and sometimes even the vegetables are already diced. This was the largest hurdle with other similar services, trying to make dinner on the nights when I only had a small window to cook. My only complaint is the difficulty of knowing certain cooking times or the right amounts of seasonings to use since I order the larger family portions but each recipe card is only for a single serving. It's not always 1:1.
The WORST app I have ever used. Can't even save my changes on the "delivery information" which is extremely important, it lists your address, delivery day, canceling acct, etc. I can't make any changes there without contacting customer service, also they keep locking me out saying my password is incorrect no matter how many times I change it (other reviews have mentioned this). Complete garbage and company and developers won't address this.
The app is fine, but the service itself has deceptive practices designed to trick customers into receiving boxes they don't want. By default you will not receive notifications about an upcoming order until after the cutoff to change or cancel it. Customer service is not willing to refund the order, and you can only see menus one month in advance so you have to remember to check the app every month. Not recommended.
App is trash,and so it tech support. My account has been messed up since I started ( I received my first box today, so it's been a week of headaches). The food is really good. Recipes are simple, delicious, and easy to modify for kids. I can't modify or do anything as of right now, including picking meals, so I'll probably cancel. I dont think the price of the service is worth the tech headaches. Customer service agents are nice but useless.
Beware of unplanned charges. They only let you skip for a certain amount of weeks ahead and after those weeks they give you no warning that your window to change or skip is closing. They also do not send an email that your card was charged. I didn't know until I checked my bank account. There was no notification from the app or email alerting me that I had a delivery coming up. As far as food the portions are very small and a couple of times during summer the meal was discolored and lukewarm.
we have really enjoyed the recipes and the convenience. 2 things are preventing a 5 star, I would really like a 3 serving option for recipes and the meat packaging is not the best. It is sandwiched between 2 ice packs just like other food services, but they are not put in extra bags and I usually have. a leaky meat package. other then that, we have cancelled all our other subscriptions because we prefer green chef.
green chef has changed my life in just a few meals. I always wanted to cook but just didn't know how to bring the meals altogether. I was usually missing some ingredients. they literally ship EVERYTHING you need. The menu cards are easy to follow and sturdy. I can save them to make on my own another time. however with the ease of these meals, I probably will never cook on my own again. I am so in love with Green Chef. thank you!!!!
Wrong recipe cards sent. Bad ingredients and/or protein every single week. I've used a lot of meal kit apps. Green Chef has some great recipes and they are mostly easy to cook. However, I have had an issue with every single weekly order. I've given Green Chef a chance twice now but I can't continue to spend money on meals that I can't use.
I love the fact that everything is organic, it's easy to order, and it arrives well packaged and cold. The downside is I had to make the teriyaki sauce from scratch rather than you guys just through in a packet of teriyaki sauce. There was not enough sqaush for two people. The recipe said to roast it in the oven while all the other veggies were to be cooked in a pan on the stove. So I skipped the roasting and added the tiny amount of squash to the saute pan. Not enough menu choices.
We've tried several meal delivery services and we think these taste the best. For being green, there is still a LOT of plastic packaging. We would prefer the stickers to be more easily removable for ease of recycling. But the value is there and the flavors are by far the best! We are also mostly vegan, and we feel the vegan options are more diverse than most other subscriptions. Better packaging and we would be 5 stars all the way!
App does not always save my skips. Multiple times I have had boxes delivered that I *know* were skipped. At times I go into the app and see boxes that I had skipped are no longer set as so and I have to reskip them again. The persistent problems with the app and service are not worth keeping for me. The meals are good, the prices are comparable, would've been nice to keep the student, teacher, first reappnder and military discounts.
Love the meals. Hate the mobile app. Ever since they "updated" it, it is impossible to select replacement meals. The means are there, and you can drill in, but for the life of me, cannot figure our how to "select" them. No button or save or next option, only a big "X" in the upper corner, which then "discards" the changes. Crazy frustrating for what was and should be a super easy thing. Until this is fixed, I'm just skipping all my meal deliveries. Ugh!
Meh. They "award" you "free meals". But I never was able to apply them. You get reminders to use your "free meals" on the app. But then it always shows an error code when attempting to use them. When you reach out, the issues never get resolved. It was convenient for the purpose of not needing to grocery shop or meal plan during stressful times. But truly.... that was it. Otherwise, you can get the same outcome with other programs. You can use instacart with a meal plan and potentially save $.
Meals are good, but taste the same after a while... Also a ton of plastic waste. I don't understand why a credit can't be applied to your account sooner... With any other merchandise refund, you can apply store credit to your next purchase... Why should this be any different? I had a credit for spoiled meat that I could not apply for MONTHS because I think I was locked into some kind of promo discount? Not sure why it didn't clarify that on the app... no explanation why I couldn't apply it. :(
We've been meal prepping for a couple of years now and decided to give this a try to make things a little easier. We eat a lot of vegan meals and have gotten pretty good at finding out what pairs/substitutes well. I honestly cannot even begin to describe how disappointed we were with these meals. I'm not even going to reach out and request any sort of replacement because out of the 6 meals we've already tried, only 2 have been decent and even those could have been majorly improved upon.
After years of eating quick, frozen, and unhealthy dinners out of convenience, I decided to give Green Chef a try. I will NEVER go back. Iwish I had started using them sooner! There are so many different meal options, and they change every week! The food is fresh and tastes FANTASTIC! My only complaint is the shrimp. It is never properly cleaned. The recipe instructions always tell you to rinse, then cook. If your recipe calls for shrimp, give yourself extra time to devein. :)
changing my review to 1 star. I'm disabled, I can't carry the box. I've asked 5 times for the box to be delivered to my front door (I know they're able), they keep delivering to the outside of the building. They say you can skip a week whenever but if you start with any promotions, skipping bumps you off the discount after. I also can't set any automatic restrictions so that if I forget to select my meals, the ones they choose for me don't contain allergens. Delivery is whatever days they say.
For 3 years I've loved how easy the recipes are, I love the variety of flavors. The app is so simple to use. I love that I can make changes and pauses for however long I need. I'm aways able to find more than enough delicious recipes to keep things interesting! Most of these dishes, I wouldn't make one my own... not to mention buying all the different spices. It's an abolute no brainer!! Makes cooking a joy and way cheaper than buying all these ingredients at the grocery store for sure!!
