nice in theory, do I have two problems. first of all the app is glitching. it takes a long time to load and then sometimes it will pull up a completely blank profile and you have to go back and click on it again to get it to load. 2nd and most importantly, the ads are out of control. I get that they have to make money and that's fine with me. but most of the ads that pop up never end. I mean like you can sit there for 5 minutes and it will never give you the option to x out of it.
Reviews for Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat
← Back to Grindr - Gay Dating & ChatUpdate: the most recent update has corrected my issue and I am now properly relieving the services that I pay for. otherwise, 3 starts. they keep keep trying to add features to leech more money from the community but it just makes the app hard to use and makes other cheaper apps that have those same "unlimited" features available for free, more appealing. but even so at the end of the day, this site still allows me to get it in more than any other.
The frequency of ads is ridiculous but the ads are about the only thing that work consistently with this app for a long time. Okay, so pay for the ad-free version! But then I'm paying to see profiles that were online over an hour ago, profiles that show up on my grid that are 10-100 miles away unless I refresh several times, and being hit up by people who are 200 miles away stating I'm showing on their grid near them.
the worst - it barely loads, the online/offline grid is never correct, multiple crashes. it doesn't matter if you uninstall it and reinstall it if you log out login how many updates they do they just can't seem to figure it out. really it's not that complicated. On the rare event that it does work then it's just a bunch of ads and scammers and automated profiles redirecting you to their Twitter only fans x account whatever. now it's stuck in a terms of service/privacy loop and won't load
If you're not a paying member, you can only view the same 3 - 10 profiles. Thats it. You can't message or even VIEW any more without paying. I paid 20/mo for member access. WRONG. Just more profile views. You don't get any other feature unless you pay even more. Ads every time you change screens. Constant scam profiles trying to get subscriptions for OF. Or sex parties. It's ridiculous.
I have been back and forth with this app for a while, and in a way, I do understand the want to make grindr more inclusive with all genders. However, cis gendered women, its a bit much, especially when its clearly a bot that won't stop messaging no matter how many times i 'hide' the person/bot. The ads suck, but they are managable, but not being able to block said profile, is a bit on the ridiculous side.
This app has no redeeming qualities. Not sure what the paid tiers are like because I've never used them nor do I plan on it. It is a buggy mess, you leave the app open for too long and it starts to break. Forces you to click ads; the little X in the corner doesn't work half the time. Noticed recently that if you try quitting the app during an ad, it forces the app back open to get you to keep watching the ad. Not sure if that even follows Google's TOS. Finally, chock full of bots and scammers.
This app is constantly busted. Constant glitches, constant issues. It shows profiles that aren't even available. You click on the profile to view and it sends you to a different profile. The distance it shows is way off too. It will show someone as 10 miles away when actually they are 150 miles away. Too much spam and bots as well, can never tell who is real or not. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
Edit: 6 months later I tried to give this another shot. The app is basically unusable. Ads every 3 clicks that are 3 minutes long and unskippable. Fake accounts are rampant. Search filters reset every time I open the app. Really not worth using. Half the accounts are fake. Ads are 3 minutes long and unskippable. Subscription packages are very expensive. You're only allowed to interact with 53 accounts that may or may not be close to you. Not worth the time or the money.
Used to be a cool app to chat with guys specially when on vacation to find out cool places to go and see from locals but you can't hardly talk to anyone local 80% of the profiles are 75+ miles away how does that help when you're in a specific location. I know I'm not paying for this app I would but even the people that do say they have the same location issues where it can't find my devices location but everything else can. Just a tool for them to steal info and sell it.
The location is never updated properly on this application. I see even more ads when trying to view a profile. You've removed the block function and I can't block people who keep coming back after getting deleted for spam (I should be able to block them before they contact me). This application is probably the worst cesspool of men I've ever seen. I uninstalled the app and won't be using your service ever again.
Ads are getting out of control. It plays ads when you open the app, reply to messages, and sometimes in the middle of typing messages. Plus, they are locking more and more free features behind the paywall. For an app that needs to be force closed and reopened just for the location finding function to reset, the corporate team should focus on making an app that works before worrying about why people won't pay $20 a month for an app that doesn't work, doesn't combat spam, bots, and scammers.
Still, every time the app gets an update, it screws something up in the app. Now their ads pop up all the time! Even while I'm in the middle of typing a message, which makes me lose my message. They also say "contact support and we'll help you", but then they almost never respond to your messages...and when they finally do (after I send a follow-up message asking them to actually respond), it's often just a form response that doesn't actually respond to the problem that I'm having. So annoying!
The repetitive ads are WAYYYY too much. An ad popping up in the middle of typing a message is deplorable. If I close the ad, I have to retype everything? Shameful, but I close anyways. $20 a month for premium is too much in my opinion. If there are not enough people paying, then something is either wrong with your app or the paid benefits aren't good enough. The only reason it's a two star is I like the unlimited blocks. If that's ever taken away, I'm just going to delete the app altogether.
This app now has more ads than profiles. Tap a message? Ad. Leave the message section after watching an ad? Get another Ad. Got a notification because someone tapped you? Get an Ad while trying to clear the notification. Want to get rid of ads? That'll be $14 per week. And, to top it all off, the app barely functions now. It's constantly throwing errors like "can't update your location."
I can access roughly 10 profiles without premium, and half of them are bots. I cannot view taps. I receive full screen ads in the middle of typing, which leads me to third party sites. The reporting system is a gilded recycling bin. The developers have slowly been introducing these "features" over time, presumably looking for a breaking point. They have passed that point.
the ad experience on here makes it almost unusable. there's a 2 minute ad that highjacks your sound and you cannot skip and pauses when you move away from the app. it's impossible to exit the Snapchat ad on the first (or second...) click no matter how precisely you hit the x. locking basic LBS options behind the paywall is bad enough, but the asking price for one week is the same as a month (or more) on other apps. I've never even seen a premium user bcuz of this just kill the app already.
The guys have moved on and the app is trash so don't waste your time. Look at the recent reviews, they are sporadic and one star reviews. I've deleted my account and the app forever! With all the options out there, who needs an app that has intrusive pop-up ads at nearly every click! When you first log in to the app, it bombards you with a pop -up right off the top! Don't waste your time with this app when there are so many other options out there! Grindr is no longer the place to be anyway.
The ads are getting ridiculous. I feel like I'm on some bootleg website that has an ad pop up every minute. Also, the app now refuses to work unless I update it. My phone does not have the storage space for that, so I guess this is it for me and Grindr. I've thought about deleting the app anyway, but preventing me from accessing it made the decision for me. I don't think I will miss it much unfortunately; they need to seriously work on improving the app anyway.
I don't understand how this app is alive, let alone so heavily used and recommended still. you literally can't do anything unless you pay. and it bugs you every 5 minutes to pay. then when you finally pay, their settings are so restrictive ,that you can't actually do anything with people unless your literal only focus is to drive through random towns hooking up. it will not let you set a radius on your connections or searches and there are so many blatant fake profiles.
