This is my second time writing about this app. Just as before, this app is a great app. The support team are great and get right on the problem if there is one and fix it quickly. I gave the app 5 stars last time but I have only given the app 3 stars this time. The app is great I use it constantly and have other responders using it as well. But now with such a high price for the app. I can no longer recommend the app to the new first responders in the area. They price themselves out business.
Reviews for Guru Maps Pro & GPS Tracker
← Back to Guru Maps Pro & GPS TrackerThis app is awesome. Kudos to the developers. But I have this request, and I would give five stars if the size and color of the curser are made optional, so one can make a suitable selection of color and size. And also if you can introduce a "dot" cursor as one of the curser option?
Upgraded back to 5 stars as the curl error on downloading maps has been fixed, but still think there needs to be a clearer option to switch between offline and online mapping other than clicking city hiking etc. But once u know it's fine. Great app.
I've been using Guru Maps for several years now, and it's been a game-changer for my adventures. The interface is incredibly user-friendly, and I pair it with an additional map called California Trail Maps. This combination lets me easily explore and navigate trails, even when I have no idea where my latest adventure has taken me.
I've given this app 3 stars for the following reasons: I like it on my SD card and not on my device as it can take up quite a bit of space. Every time I update it gets put back on device and it then deletes all of my maps. This sucks because on a trip you cannot afford this. Please fix this! Your app is five stars, but this issue really kills it for me.
Sometimes the map updating process can not actually update the maps. Sometimes the maps can get corrupted during an update and they will need to be redownloaded again from scratch. Apart from that the app is ok, i like the features and the UI , just wish that the map updates wouldn't break the offline maps, even if it happens rather rarely.
The app looks cool and responsive but I've instant find out that are missing the Speed Cameras (Autovelox) so the app is not so "GURU". Please add that information, should not be complicated, the international database is online. Edit: other things... The NAV view is distracting, the past track is still visible and the arrow, that rapresent ourselfs, is mimetized in that track with the same color. The recalculation is extremely slow, sometimes it don't even try to do it. There are many missing places. All those things happen in offline mode (the only mode I consider to use).
The best, and fastest map software I have tried so far. Guru maps can handle large kmz/kml files, which would make other apps crash. I love that you can install your own maps. But I think the installed online tile maps should also be synced, just like the bookmarks etc. The only thing I miss is to be able to draw lines by clicking on the map. The record button is great, but I also need to be able to "draw" the lines. I currently use Sweden Topo Maps for that task, but I hope Guru implements this.
BEST map program out there!! Use this for hiking and getting around places all over the world. I love you can download the maps data for different regions for offline use. Perfect for hiking when you might not have cell reception or in foreign countries if you don't want to use international data plans or get a local sim card for a shorter trip. Google maps has its purposes and yes, it's good for what it does. But this fills in where Gmaps falls short. Lifetime license for a couple years now.
I want to love this app but I can't it's buggy, when I update the maps it hangs up and I have to keep clicking wait on my Android phone. sometimes it'll say download maps in an area that I've already downloaded the map. When it works it works great I don't think it's me because most everything else I have works fine it's just that this app hangs all the time. I recommend it because of the detail but I warn people because of the stability good
I am using this app for more then 4 years in very complex environments around the world. I have to say that so far never get lost, and that is the reason that would like to recommend it to all, professionally and for fun as well. Even tested it during the flights and it works, however have to sit next to window. Few times lost all the data, but needs to be synced or with gmail or fb. Two thumbs up for developers.
Free version was great. Upgraded to Pro version and initial download was plagued with glitches and crashes. After finally getting the app installed and beginning to download maps, app crashed after downloading two or three states. Unless using the app takes me to nirvana, this one will go on the trash heap. Makes me wonder what drove all the glowing reviews.
My favorite mapping app of many I have tried. Very easy to use. One unique feature is a quick distance between two points by touching both points at the same time using two fingers (would be even better if it gave you a bearing too). Very simple to organize tracks and waypoints in folders. Also, l am an apple and Android user so I have it on both devices and the data is synced between the two!
This app is no 1 star solution, but I find it not working when I try to use the Routing button. The app shows the desired address but I can't select it to use it to navigate me to there. At the end of the day I must use another alternative, while this one is just awesome in every aspect! I am using it in offline mode, even though I have mobile network on. I have enabled location, but location improving services like wi-fi and Bluetooth scanning are off.
Came here after the maps.me being transfered between companies, infested by trackers and ads along the way (kind of Cheetah situation back then..). This app seems solid, has just the right amount of functions (not too much, not too little) and works smoothly. No weird DNS requests in the background or other weird stuff. The best one I've found after looking for months for a solid offline map app with frequent updates. Kudos, dev!
Beautiful, easy to use, and feature-rich! Has lots of online and offline maps and overlays options! One-time payment option and price are very good! FEATURES REQUEST: 1). For recorded tracks, shadow effect option where tracks overlap, option to vary track width, and more direction arrowhead styles may be given. 2). When recording a track, the lock screen notification should, at least, give option to pause/stop the track. It may also show other info, like time elapsed, current speed, etc. Thanks.
By far, it's the best offline map.
On a phone or tablet, this is a great map. On AA this is horrible. Zoomed in way too much and no way to change it.
I have been using Guru maps for many years and like the ability to swap maps depending on what i am doing eg driving, walking, cycling. I should have reported it a long time ago, but when exporting tracks eg via GPX it would be helpful that the date stamp was the date the track was created and not today's date. This way I could export multiple tracks and then be able to sort them later on a PC etc. Yet to try the navigation features.
After testing several apps that claim they work offline and discovering that they don't I played with Guru Maps and it was my happy moment. Offline navigation works flawlessly. If I deviate from the planned route, it recalculates it instantly. It is faster than my old TomTom GPS and has a better user interface (at least in my opinion). It took me a while to learn how to use it since in some scenarios it's not so obvious how to achieve your goal.
