Reviews for Handy Library - Book Organizer

← Back to Handy Library - Book Organizer

Seemed great at first. Until I tried to scan my older Stephen King books. It didn't recognize any of them. I have way too many "older" books to enter them manually. The search continues..... Update: I upgraded to the paid version because I really like the ease of the app and format. I'll just figure out a different way to track my older books. We have such a large collection of books it's still worth it.

I downloaded this app last night so that I could better keep track of my family's personal library, both physical and digital. Handy Library is very easy to use, and allows for the creation of different shelves. This feature makes it easier to catalog our books into different catagories--comics vs. Digital novels vs. Physical novels vs. Cook books. I have spent the better part of my day going through our books, but it is rewarding.

I've only had the app for maybe 5 minutes but you've already won me over! 1. THE BATCH SCANNING 😍 YAY!!! makes it so much easier 2. LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION AT A REASONABLE PRICE?! You've got me! Love me some developers who understand a good price! an idea for a future update. I saw there's a "wishlist" feature. I wonder if it would be possible for the app to see that you have a book of a series, notice you're missing some of the series and prompt you to add the missing ones to the wishlist?

Great app, but....I really need this to be able to sync with all devices, most importantly, a laptop or desktop. If you are on the OCD side, you would want to edit the titles of the books and categorize it more neatly as well. It is great that I almost never have trouble searching up any books, no matter how random I may think it is. However, the title is sometimes typed atrociously or there is a bunch of descriptions or keywords you don't want. I want to edit that quickly using a laptop.

This app is not good if you have more than 100 books and don't wanna pay for premium. (Probably was hoping for too much and didn't do enough research on my end.) The organization is good, and easy to use. If you have older books though, sometimes the scan doesn't work to get the correct book so you have to manually enter the ISBN, which is fine, just a little annoying.

It's easy to use. Our family doesn't used this app for books but uses it for our extensive board game collection. In the place of name of author we put what type of game it is instead; ELA, STEM, zoology, math... Then we are able to search for example, math games and it pulls up all the games we have listened under math. It's easy enough our 1st grader can navigate the app.

Phenomenal app for keeping track of one's home library! I have a collection made up of several hundreds of books, and this app is absolutely phenomenal for organizing them. It allows you to easily scan them in (most of them automatically populating with the book blurb & relevant other info), group them by genre & shelf, and quickly search for them whenever needed. Update: Had some issues w/ the cloud backup, but customer support helped resolve it in a very speedy manner.

Great App! I use this app almost daily. I have every single one of my books, CDs and DVDs stored here. It's very convenient and I love the option to be able to export/import the spreadsheet into this app. Very flexible and easy to add new titles. Could use some minor tweaking like fields to be multi use (like Language...most people don't have more than one language of books). Overall, extremely happy with this and one of my constant go-to core apps.

I don't write reviews, ever. And this app? Best To Be Read list manager capability- just set up a "shelf" with my TBR titles. Incredible, easy, perfect, flexible for however you want to use it to track and manage your physical, and e-book libraries, and any book specifics you want to keep track of, easy to back up, add personal notes, track future book releases, I could go on and on. My only regret is not using it sooner and 100% recommend the premium version.

I bought the full version of the app because I knew ahead of time that I have more than 100 books. I like that it's a one time fee and not a subscription. The entire process of scanning books is very smooth. Occasionally the wrong cover to the right book comes up, but I chalk that up to the internet connecting it to the isbn as opposed to any app mistake. I could only desire that the google drive backup had an option to happen automatically whenever the app was closed. "Backup and Exit."

So far, I like it. Wish it could have the ability to make a sub bookshelf within a main bookshelf similar to the folder within a folder system. Also, it would be nice to have a way to select a batch of books and have it auto sum that selection based on the prices of those particular books. Right now, it just totals every book entered. Still, I'm enjoying the app and paid the life license without a second thought. I think this might be my best portable option. Thanks.

Very handy! The premium version is a bit expensive, but I like this app a lot compared to other options, even if those ones are free. Some additional customization like changing the headers (Lend/Borrow & Tags), better genre control, and specifying currency instead of only the currency symbol would be very welcome. Overall I may recommend other options to others due to the cost of the app and becauae I like having very fine control of data more than the average person. But still a great app.

I can not say enough how much I love this app. I paid the one-time fee for the full thing and it's exactly what I wanted. I have all my books scanned in by location so I know which room and bookshelf to find the books on. I would love to be able to allow my family access so they could edit shelves and books without needing me home, but that is a minor thing.

I recommend the app but there are a few niggles. On the book view page it says "Page number:" whereas it should say "Number of pages:". Also where it says the price it should have the currency symbol before the amount, not after i.e. $9.99 rather than 9.99$. Also I would suggest having an option to exclude "A" and "The" when sorting book titles e.g. "A Man For All Seasons" would be sorted under M rather than A. Finally add a feature to auto crop and straighten when photographing covers.

I have the paid version. Perfect for what I need. I use it to catalog my library(over 1500 books), keep track of books I read each year, what I'm currently reading, and my wishlist. The ISBN scanning feature helps me add wishlist items without having to write anything down. Very 'handy'!

love the ease of the scanning. but the limitations of how many scans you can do really bothering esp when there is no notice that you will have a limit. then when you hit that limit your then told you can either pay for a monthly subscription to continue to next limit or you can pay x amount for lifelong use. sorry but I want to know I am using a trial app or that I would need to pay to use when 1st used the app esp if your already spending time to scan books

Was great until subscription. All I want to do is scan the ISBN of the books I currently own so I have a Handy Library on my phone when I am out or wanting to shop. I used to be able to scan every book I owned into this and then make new shelves and whatever else. Nothing seems to have changed except that now I have to pay $15 to be able to just scan my books. Outrageous price for something that I'm just using as basically a list. I have more than 100 books and so do most people wanting this

Its pretty easy to use. My only problems with it are that you have to pay for anything over 100 books, & I was trying to organize my bookshelves by genre and thought an app might help me do it faster but the genres in this app are.... oddly... specific in some cases, and sometimes just seemingly made up in others. it assigns them a genre based on whoever entered it previously. you can go back in and reset it to whatever genre you prefer it say after the fact, which I guess works, but its tedious

Totally meets my needs! you can pay a one time fee of $12ish if you want to do more than 100 books. I wanted to catalog and categorize our collection of around 300 beautiful picture books. I can tag a group of them for example with #insect and then to further sort tag certain of those with: #honeybees or #butterflies. Only complaint is that if you'te batch scanning, there needs to be a different noise that alerts you when a book isn't recognized. I didn't always notice the little message pop up

I love this app! I had some trouble transferring my premium account to a new device, and the problem was quickly resolved by possibly the best customer service agents ever. The app itself is perfect for my needs as a reading journal. It's easy to scan a book to instantly load basic information, and then I use the Notes field to write my thoughts. I especially like that my data can be exported into a spreadsheet, in case I want access to it without the app.
