Edit: I like the new updated UI, but that's it. The couple of matches that I've had don't reply, seemingly I have 4 likes yet now no profiles appear in the explore, and nothing happens if you click any of the tabs in the hub section. How do you match with people who liked you then? Is this deliberate to force you to pay? Update: 99% of the profiles are fake, absolute trash!
Reviews for happn: dating app
← Back to happn: dating appAll of the profiles are scambots, and the app is full of so many bugs and glitches and ads, you spend more time waiting/closing out for the thing to work properly than even looking through profiles. Great concept, poor execution. I had an account years ago and after giving it a second try in 2024, it's a no for me.
Look at all the other 1 star reviews... Here's another. Set my search criteria to basically everyone. No users in or around the huge city I live near. Obviously fake profiles are suggested. It's been like this every time I've installed it. I've done this near many large cities with a very large age range, even while driving 2500 miles across the USA! I see people "adding me" and they never appear in any of the queues. They're clearly gaming users for subscriptions. Don't waste your time.
Maybe it's my neighborhood, but there are way too many fake profiles with stolen Instagram photos of personal trainers, etc. trying to collect information of users on here. Reported 2 profiles in one day after reverse image searching and 1, who reached out kept trying to collect detailed personal information and photos, they are still on the app several hours later after reporting. The concept of the app is great and could be fun but there needs ro be better vetting for fake profiles.
I've used a lot of these apps just to compare and this one sucks more than any other I can think of. And it's not like rest where it's because of fake profiles asking for iStore gift cards. With this app you can't even get a feel for if you like it before they start shoving subscription and Upgrade now notices up your ass. And it lies saying you have likes awaiting you when I know it didn't because I look in the like section and it said empty. They were trying to lure me in to paying just like the Roomie app. I only had it for 6 hours, that's how soon they attack. They won't let you get a thing free, you'll be restricted without paying as before any action happens.
Managed to get the app to work only by signing in with Google instead of using a phone number, but ended up running out of anyone to browse, with my only filter set to age 24-38, in about 5 minutes. Might not be a bad app, but I guess nobody uses it? Also would be nice if it actually had a place to WRITE a profile, and then maybe actually market it a bit better... I'm all in favor of any app that beats match corp at their own game, but this one has a ways to go.
Basically no one in my area using the app. You can't look for someone a certain amount of miles away or set a distance. You'd have to drive around your limit destination to scope out the area for pings. You can't take a personality quiz to help out with matching pr anything. It's basically useless unless you go for long drives. I do appreciate you being able to set a few of your favorite songs on your profile though.
Currently infested with fake profiles/bots. I received 2 "matches" who both said the same thing, word-for-word, no matter what my response was. Had I known this, I wouldn't even sign up for Premium. Unfortunately there aren't enough verified accounts to justify me staying. Until devs find a way to find a way to exterminate the vermin, it's a total waste of time. And no, *m not going to report/block every fake profile I see---Thats developers job, not mine.
Forced full screen aspect pics ruined it. Used to be an interesting concept (albeit with a low user base on the West coast), but the switch to forced full screen aspect for the pics made it impossible to see what people look like. Half of the time, part or most of their faces and bodies are cropped off screen. Even if you can see their full face or body, it's hard to tell what someone looks like without the context from the rest of the picture.
In theory, this app would be great, but in practice, it is a dead end. Its major obstacles right now are two things. First, it simply doesn't load. It is always hanging on the loading screen, telling you it's getting the profiles of those you've crossed paths with, but never loads. If it ever does, you hit issue two. Second issue is that no one seemingly uses it OR the app is faulty and doesn't find the other users. Either way, it's useless compared to Tinder, Bumble or Hinge.
is app is uselss, dot not waste your time. i used it for a week now and i only see 1 to 3 profile a day. i am deleting this. i have been using this app extensively for the last few days, and there is no single interactions with any of the members at all. there is no way to write to other members unless you pay. also, i can only see few profiles every day and after i like them, they all disappear and nothing shows anymore. i found this app unpractical and to the extent of useless.
Basically can't use the app unless you upgrade $$, which would be ok if it wasn't so overpriced. This app is not worth the amount that they think it is. Also, I turned off all of the notifications and would still get atleast 2 notifications a day, all of which are pretty pointless (if I wanted a daily notification to see "what I missed" I wouldn't have turned off all of the other notifications). I'm sticking to bumble and hinge.
Since the moment I've installed this and updated my profile, I have yet to see anyone I "happn" to cross paths. Now, to put it in perspective, I travel through multiple cities everyday, driving by, walking around pretty consistently, and pretty much go everywhere but bars and clubs. And I have yet to find one person? Yea no thanks. Outside of coincidentally seeing someone, you can't do anything to "better" your odds of running into someone. Might as well ditch this app.
Liked the idea of it. You can't just sit on your ass in front of the screen phishing for matches. You have toa a as actually get up and go to where people are. Seemed simple enough during my trial. I'm in a mid-sized city and the hits are a trickle rather than a steady flow. Still it seemed cool and more engaging than other dating apps I tried. So I paid for the annual membership. This turned out to have been a huge mistake. When I get notified that someone likes me I open the app only to have them disappear. Contacted customer support who told me... Become a premium member. Do not spend your money on this app.
Well I don't see too many bots or OF/IG models advertising here so that's a plus. The issue I have is there is no local search. It will tell you a person is more than 31 miles away and that's it. They could be in another country and that's all you get, unless that person specified that on their profile, which usually is not the case. It seems people could fly over you on a plane and they'd show up for you on the app. Give me a local search and I'll come back.
Back when it used to work. It was interesting using this app, crossing paths, trying to match with people relatively close. This latest time downloading the app, it's riddled with "error" 's (as indicated by the app) and No crossings are detected (I live in one of the busiest restaurant areas In town) even though my match parameters are wide open. I've reinstalled multiple times and opened up all permissions with no luck . Hopefully it's working for others.
As others have said there's just not enough people on the app and there's a lot of fake profiles. I live in Seattle and also spent a week up in Vancouver and came across one other person on the map. This subscription is currently absolutely not worth the money. hppn's response to this review suggesting I visit more areas and keep location settings enabled is laughable. I have been all over Seattle and Vancouver with location enabled. This recommendation hppn trying to blame anything else.
I paid for the premium service and my account got suspended suddenly. I did not even receive an email or any other form of intimation. If an account is being suspended, a reason should be provided or an investigation needs to be done at the very least. Also, the fee for premium has not been refunded even though I paid for 6 months and used less than 2 weeks. This is frustrating experience. Also, I've come across lot of fake profiles in the app.
I used this app about a year or so ago and it was bad, but I wanted to give it a shot once again. I got a discount for 50% off and decided to give it another chance. Since I paid for it, I matched with at least one person a day. The only problem is that each one of them are FAKE. And they're super easy to spot, but Happn doesn't do ANYTHING to prevent them. They do not have a "verified profile" feature and let anyone register with any fake photo. Tragic! Don't waste your money like I did!
Firstly. Notifications are terrible. It posts notifications to check out profiles just to open the app and tell you there's no one in your area. But if someone messaged you, good luck getting a notification. Secondly. The matches here are mostly scams. Two of my matches have completely changed their profile pics to completely different women. Another one was offering escort services. The rest haven't responded. Probably because they didn't get any notification. Definite buyer's remorse
