when you pay for plus you get more sounds and music which I wanted. but you can't choose individual songs, have to choose a playlist like "jazz" "harp". the problem is it only plays the same first song on the playlist for an hour+, it doesn't ever change it up. what is the point of a playlist if it only ever plays the first song qued. it's also such a pain to navigate the app and find things to listen to. I wish I bought a different device altogether honestly. not worth it at all.
Reviews for Hatch Sleep
← Back to Hatch Sleeppaying extra for the membership, yet almost 2 years later, still waiting for simple, calming, wake up sounds to be added to the library. really love the wonderful addition of Rio, but other wake up breathing and movement items haven't been updated in years. they are great, but it would be really nice to get some updates, especially with the cost of the subscription. I've made requests and shared input whenever it's requested, but feel sad there have been no updates on these suggestions.
The most UN-user friendly app ever. I dont understand how to do even the simplest things on it anymore. I just wanted a low light, with a light box fan sound for my baby's room. The light randomly changes colors and the volume never wants to stay consistent, waking my 9 month old up who has slept all night since 2 months old. As expensive as it is, the app needs some SERIOUS help.
as much as I love the hatch, am excited for competitors to release something comparable that does not make me license the basic functions of the alarm clock. $50/year is ridiculous for how few options are available, and paying $160 for a device you can't use without a subscription is quite gross. many of the bedtime routine offerings are wonky and don't work properly also, so you are made to subscribe to a service that does not deliver it's purported offerings.
Whenever I have to update my Restore, it's at least a full day process if not longer. I have to unplug & move my Restore right next to my WiFi tower and majority of the time, it says it can't update after cycling through for at least 15 minutes. And this goes on for hours. Then when it does finally update, I have to move it back and forth between my bedroom and my office where the WiFi tower is. I don't know where the problem truly is, but it's an absolute headache whenever I have to update.
There are so many issues... The UI is over engineered. The UX is unintuitive. The connection drops frequently. The previews take too long and should be more consistent. Preview should all be on the phone by default with the option to preview on the Hatch. This would make the process of going through and picking sounds faster. Why are the sound and light options restricted to specific "types" of alarms? unclear. if the functions of the app were cleaned up to be simpler, it would be better.
I've been having major issues with this alarm clock recently. Every time I go to create an alarm or change an alarm, I get an error message saying that it can not be updated. Aside from the subscriptions, I paid way too much money for this alarm clock to not even work. Update: I can't even set an alarm. I just get an error message. I can't even use this as an alarm now. If you have one of these, always set a backup, alarm, or you will miss work! Just didn't go off one morning. Very unreliable
This app is far more difficult to use than it should be. As if parenting isn't challenging enough, you have to wrangle with the Hatch app to play a sound or turn on the light. With each use I'm becoming increasingly convinced that they're just trying to annoy me into submission so I buy the premium subscription.
update- customer support wasn't real and sent me a response saying that email is not longer in use. now my sound machine is just straight up glitching. throwing it out and buying a different brand. 👎🏻. overpriced for an underwhelming gadget. your app offers little choices unless you pay a subscription and it's always saying I need to restart my rest to make it connect to my phone. waste of money 😒
Terrible app disconnects from the device every single time you switch away from the app. When you switch back, there's about 5 or 10 seconds where the app doesn't know that it's disconnected and it freezes, eating all your frustrated inputs as your baby continues to cry as you frantically try to turn on a bloody light. Then you're thrown back to the devices menu, where when you finally do press the ONLY DEVICE YOU OWN, and it works every time. RECONNECT THE DEVICE AUTOMATICALLY, HATCH.
Ive had hatch for at least 3 years now and I had to get a new one sent to me because the first one glitched so much. Im noticing now that the volume level is always so off. I have my sons routine set at 60 and some days its loud enough to hear and others I can barely hear a thing and have to put it at 100 with the fear that its gonna randomly decide to get louder mid song. So annoying, I also dislike that I can't remove the previous hatch from my app options. The subscription is insanely pricey.
Starting and keeping an internet connection can be a challenge for the app and the hatch. Otherwise, the variety of songs, sounds and story's is large. The non subscription options are a good amount as well. Seasonal options are fun. The ability to schedule naps, wake up time etc has been a huge help as a parent.
While the hatch devices work fine, we have 3, the app is infuriating. I never know if it's going to choose to load and connect or not. I lie here at almost 2 a.m., begging it to connect so I can play music for my restless infant in the other room without going in and disturbing him further. It's been ten minutes and keeps freezing mid connection with his room's hatch.
Unfortunately the keep making this worse. Wi-Fi is great in theory, but now you have to go through a finicky Wi-Fi setup on the app, assuming you even have Wi-Fi, when you travel or the schedule doesn't work. If you edit the schedule while it's on, it turns off (want to delay wake up by 20 mins? ha) Not a battle tested user experience for sure.
For how much the subscription cost, I expected a lot more content. I'm not happy with how muddled the voices are on the spoken content. There's not a common volume between any of the content either; you have to tweak each individual portion of a routine. Just really, really disappointed in this, but I feel obligated to use it now because it was expensive. I hope amazon buys Hatch in the hopes it will eventually let me use my audible account. At least that way I'd have access to content.
I'm updating this to emphasize once again that this app can not consistently handle connecting when returning from the background. I'm on a Samsung. There's no excuse for this. No, I'm not contacting support. Please, just put the time and effort into fixing this. Either hire a developer who knows what they're doing, or if you have one, give them the time required to fix this basic issue.
I could have sworn I was able to add more than 1 step to a routine before. Now the button to add a new step is gone & it has completely hamstrung my ability to fine tune the bedroom/night light routine I'm trying to run so I just end up having to use my phone like a remote, which somewhat defeats the purpose of the Hatch.
I love our hatch! We have two, one for each kid, and they've been so helpful in coping with fear of the dark. They both like to have the light and sound on. Having options for different kinds of noise or lullabies is great and the kids are old enough now to ask for which they like and want for any given night. It's also great to have the birdsong which we use as a gentle alarm on school days. The toddler lock is great! It would be nice if you could add other songs or noise to it through the app.
For the cost of this device I'm not very pleased. There is very little sounds/songs to choose from unless you pay extra a month/year for a subscription. The app is very laggy therefore expect to have a 10sec delay with a crying toddler or baby to add to this frustration. Majority of the time when you open the app it completely turns off what you already had on, when turning the volume up or down it always resets itself back to where it originally was when you first started it, same with light.
The device worked great for 8 months, but now the sleep sounds don't stay on. I've attempted to reset the device, and nothing has changed. I have repeatedly been told to switch on the setting that says "Until I Tap" but that is the only setting I've ever used. After a couple minutes of sleep sounds My Restore switches off. I ended up setting the device to play for 8 hours and it didn't last 1 minutes. It continues to tell the correct time, but doesn't know to play sleep sounds for 8 hours??
