No longer casts to my TV/Chromecast set up. Multiple other streaming apps worked, tried restarting all hardware and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still nothing, the logo screen appears with the little thinking wheel then it quits. Shows will play on my phone but would like on my TV at night. Very disappointed, used to watch this from this app nightly now considering canceling. HBO support suggested I reach out for help, so I did. No one responded. Wish I could go down to half a star.

right now I have to give this streaming app 3 stars because of the volume of the commercials are not on the same level as the show or movies..the shows are so low you have to turn up the volume and then when a commercial pops up it's so loud it makes the whole family jump..very annoying to have to keep adjusting the volume to try to watch something. please fix this. I am a new user but not sure if it's worth it.
ads still play with the top tier subscription, horrific quality drops after going forward or backwards on the TV app, and audio cut out on only the HBO Max TV app that makes everything unwatchable. Tried all the recommendations on the website and nothing works. sometimes the audio cuts out constantly, sometimes it's rare. In fact, after trying the recommendations on the website, the audio seems to cut way worse now. Just not going to bother with this and I'll just never subscribe again.
Edit: I was watching a show one night and got a call. I couldn't close the HBO app, it just downsized to the bottom of my screen. Now there's several dark boxes similar to screen burn on my phone screen! They show up in screenshots, but go away when I'm watching HBO. Nothing else removes them. And all the movies I want to watch are just green blurs. what's the point in paying for a product that doesn't work? I'm not going to play with customer service every few days. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
This is the worst streaming app. It literally takes me 10-15 minutes to log in every time I try to use it. Most of the time I just go watch one of my other streaming apps that actually works. *edit Who would have thought it was possible to make this app worse. As if it isn't annoying enough to have to sign in and out 10 times every time I log in because it forgets I have a subscription. now you can't click the connect your provider tab. But don't worry every other button still works.
Update: I honestly wish I could give this app zero stars. It really is mind boggling how terrible it is. You can't make it 30 minutes into a movie or show before the buffering starts, or my favorite, it will just randomly pause itself. Then it's the inevitable crash that always results in having to completely reboot my TV. You know what streaming app I've never, ever, had problems with in the years I've been using it? Tubi. And it's free.
The app does not even let me log in properly. I enter the email and the password then it takes me to where I need to connect my provider then it just takes me in circles. It acts like it connects to my provider but then tells me I need to connect it again. This has happened on 2 separate occasions. This bug needs to be fixed. My phone is the only device I cannot watch HBO Max. The TV, my desktop, even my laptop all work just fine!
I would love to give it 5 stars but I can't. I love the available content, but when I'm connected to WIFI, the app doesn't load very well on any of my devices: tablet, phone, or Fire stick. It actually runs better when I turn off the wifi and use my phone data. This is the only app that does this. It literally takes 5-10 minutes to load a show. Please fix this.
Of all the streaming platforms I have, HBO Max (or whatever it's called at the time you're reading this) has the worst, buggiest player. It's often lagging, closing out of the app, not auto-playing the next episode of a series and instead playing something unrelated. Also, there's no way to navigate from the homepage to a show's page without starting the episode and then navigating from there. 3 stars for the content they carry.
I used to love this streaming service, but for the last TWO MONTHS, I haven't been able to watch anything. First, the video freezes, yet the audio continues playing. Then, if you try to rewind or restart, the video buffers and will not play no matter how many times you try. I have done all their stupid troubleshooting and spoken to customer service twice about this issue, and I keep getting the run around. I don't think they're listening. Maybe they won't till someone sues.
