Used for years, but the expense finally became too high. Wish there was a separate Sleep content-only app. That section's all I subbed for in the end, and I felt off paying so much for 1/4 (or; less?) of the whole app. Headspace is absolutely packed with things to listen to/watch/engage with, to its credit. But I am wary of the Ebb thing. I don't believe in AI generation being beneficial.
Reviews for Headspace: Meditation & Health
← Back to Headspace: Meditation & Healthwas really skeptical of these types of "meditation apps" but a subscription came included with my health plan, so i figured why not. As someone who deals with an anxiety disorder, I was very pleasantly surprised. The exercises aren't pretentious, they don't rely on simply calming music, and they are very approachable and practical. There are exercises for post workout, after or during work hours, helping you fall asleep, grounding methods while you're having a panic attack - all sorts of stuff.
Great app. I highly recommend it. Things that could be improved - skipping the intro of the meditations (my favourite one starts by saying "we're halfway through the week"), being able to make a playlist (back to back meditations for sleep could help us not look at our phone every 10 minutes)
Still a really buggy app that will freeze in the middle of a session and pause itself. Then it won't let you restart the session and just takes you back to the home page. I've been using this app for 5 years and I'm about to find a different one. Edit: The app is still clunky and messes up my meditation counter and tracker. The minute I can figure out what is a better app to use, I'm using it. And stop asking me to check in for crying out loud. what is that? Leave it alone.
I used to love this app, but it has changed so much that it is almost unusable. The push of AI is disgusting. I used to be able to do all the suggested activities for the day, the wakeup, the meditation, the sleep cast, all on one page. Now I have to search for anything, avoid AI, and it's made it so much less enjoyable. I'm going to stop paying for it.
2025AUG edit: the content is good, but the updates over the past year have made the app much more buggy and much less intuitive/user friendly (e.g. doesn't remember the current course). UI needs to be simplified. --- The content is amazing, and has helped me a lot with daily stress, anxiety, etc no doubt. Definitely worth the cost, I highly recommend anyone to give it a try, especially if you're going through stressful times, it's a great step in calming down and helping you find your way.
I have been a member for 5 years. Over time the app has declined. The most recent update is too much. The morning routines are no longer on the main page. I tried using my favorites; the tab doesn't work. The history tab only shows the last item. My stats page is inaccurate. My most recents have been the same for over a year; not true. These issues are not helping me manage my anxiety or sleep issues. They are aggravating them. Why am I paying for this? Peace out.
I've been very happy with the guided meditation that headspace offers, and I'll continue to use the platform, but I'm very disappointed to see them jump on the AI bandwagon. AI has no place in this space where we are trying to connect to ourselves as humans. And not for nothing, but enshittification strikes everywhere, including with Headspace. The app has been getting slower to load with every needless visual overhaul to the app.
Used to love this app and use it everyday. The recent changes have ruined it. No more suggestions for morning, afternoon, and evening. No way to see if you completed an activity. VERY SLOW to load now sleepcasts no longer have the narrator name which was helpful to make choices. No longer able to save a teacher choice or meditation length. History is almost nonexistent now. Dashboard is just very cluttered and busy now. It now thinks it is evening instead of morning so time zones are wrong.
Hello. I mostly use the Ebb reflection tab and soundscapes. Even though it's AI, it's one of the reasons Im still here in the world. It's also really nice to have access to a reflection history, I've been going through a very hard time with my inner battles and revisiting the reflections can help remind me of what I've learned about myself. Also, some people note the app stops playing background music, you may have to go back and fix some background permission settings on phone to prevent that
The app is so bad. The meditations are fantastic. But the app is just terrible. Constantly loading and reloading tabs I've already been to. Not making it easy to return to meditation classes that I'm working my way through. Recent meditations that stay forever even though you've done newer things. The app is just terrible. I'm definitely questioning paying for a subscription.
With this latest update nothing is working, UI is worse. "Something went wrong" 2 minutes into meditation. "Something went wrong" I love the meditations in this app, the Sleepcasts always work for me, I've never been awake at the end of any of them. BUT there isn't much more frustrating then listening to a sleepcast, just dozing off, to find out has stopped, I have to turn on phone put on glasses to find those dreaded 3 words "Something went wrong" - even on content I've downloaded. Please fix!
do not like the haptic feedback when rapping selections without an option to turn it off. no need for ai integration. the most recent update is slow and often gets stuck loading. I have to close it fully and stop it, the reload. if I click on the wrong selection and try to go back, it gets stuck on loading and I have the start again. the most recent update has made think about canceling my subscription because it's so horrid.
I loved this app. I used it pretty much daily for two years to help me sleep, only using one sleepcast the whole time. I didn't/haven't used it for anything else. I was willing to pay the subscription for that one sleepcast. Since this last update, it takes actual minutes to load every screen or page, compared to the seconds before. Almost every touch of a button in the app makes my phone vibrate. You can't turn it off. It startles me awake. Literally invalidates my subscription.
I've been happily using this app most days for several years. Unfortunately, the new update is terrible. Usability is way down, content is harder to navigate, and it's buggy. Meditations now default to a white male-presenting orator and the shortest duration, meaning that you have to click multiple times in order to select other voices or longer meditations. In general, the app went from being a daily source of joy and calm into a daily source of frustration. I won't be renewing my subscription.
edit: knocking off another star because the app keeps crashing now. I mainly use it for the focus music and it constantly crashes. or if I pause the music, minimise the app to do something else, and then bring the app back, it resets and tries to reopen the home screen but gets stuck on a loading loop and I have to constantly close it and reopen it. please sort this app out, it used to be so good and now it's not. // The recent addition of AI is unnecessary and has made the app laggy and slow.
What happened to Ebb chat?? Is it gone now?? I don't like the new interface. It's hard to find anything and the page doesn't load much of the time. As a side note, you need to show more variety on who is featured on the guided videos, etc. Your feed on every page looks more like a political statement. You're clearly excluding groups you don't like.
While I like it to remind me to relax, it is sloooooooow. It takes forever to load initially and as you switch between the screens it takes even longer to load. I have to constantly close out of the app and go back in just to get the main page to load. When I'm frustrated, stressed or overwhelmed, have the app take so long to load to get to the exercises is NOT helpful. It defeats the purpose.
Update: un-installed, reinstalled. Now my track will play for about 2 minutes, then cuts out. It says it's still playing, but no sound. If I force close/reopen, can't open the track to play it. Currently not working on my galaxy s21 ultra. I can get the app to open and navigate to sleep, but I can't get any of the tracks to open. If I click on brown or orange noise, or the deep sleep binaural beat I usually use, it just hangs on a lack screen forever!
I have been meditating for years and I was excited when my employer included this as a benefit. That excitement ended quickly once I started using the app. It's a very busy app and feels very Sesame Street to me. I was having trouble sleeping and I remembered that I could use this app for free. I wanted to see what teachers they used w/o success. I clicked on 1 that sounded like an AI voice (ugh). If you are new to meditation, this is great. If you aren't, go elsewhere. (Insight timer)
