Installed it on aftermarket HU, using Pixel 9 Pro. Connection type with HU hotspot and wifi launcher app on phone. Works great, i just have to turn off and on wifi in order to get it casting even though phone is instantly connected to HU hotspot. Only thing that bugs me is searching in google maps on HU, not possible but only over phone. Also layout cant be changed to split screen between music app and map, there is no option for this, only one or the other but easily accasable by 1 click on HU
Reviews for Headunit Reloaded Emulator HUR
← Back to Headunit Reloaded Emulator HURBought this for my Android head unit because the default Android Auto app that came with it stopped working and this worked right away. It even works faster. The only odd thing I've noticed is it seems to be a little inaccurate with Google maps. I'll have to mess with it some more but it's great so far.
App works well for me and developer notes are thorough. For sure works well on cable. Had a hard time sorting why phone calls wouldn't go through stereo until I toggled off the 'Enable audio sink' setting. This setting will utilize phone wired to stereo Aux. For my 98 4runner I use a Galaxy S9+ and a 2013 7" Samsung Tab 3 tablet. I purchased micro usb to usb c elbow, usb c to dual usb a, mount, and a 40W dual usb c charge power for cig lighter. Everything charges and works well. Well done app!
Excellent app. The trial version didnt work for me but the paid version did. Ive been enjoying this now for several weeks. Note - If youre having issues getting the app to connect to your phone, go into the settings. There is an option to show a force connect button in the notifications. When it doesnt connect, just press that button...
Amazing! I had one of those overpriced adapters that started going out...even when it worked, it was slow. Your app fired up the first time and has been rock solid. Quick to launch and more flexibility with connection methods, screen size, etc. Thank you so much!
The beta (V4.6-beta3) version of the app has fixed all of my previous issues. The app now works correctly and as intended. It does occasionally disconnect randomly and I sometimes have to unplug my phone and plug it back into my android radio unit as the music sometimes will fail to play on the first connection. However the overall connection is generally stable enough that I can use it for most of my car rides (20-40 minutes on average). If there is a fix to the occasional disconnect (which appears to be an issue with the latest android auto app) I would love to test it out.
What a great APP! I purchased an aftermarket Chinese headunit for my 2016 Audi A6. The HU did not come with Android Auto but with Apple Carplay. I tried for several weeks to find a mirroring app to no avail. Then, I accidentally stumbled across this app. Downloaded the trial version, not impressed and on a whim, I bought the full version and it blew me away! I followed the instructions and viola! Android Auto! Thank you so very much! You saved me from having regrets of purchasing the Chinese HU!
Okay, so since everyone seems to have issues with Android Auto version 4.7 and they refuse to release an update to fix the fact a lot of phones are refusing connection due to it and won't fix it until version 4.8. I found a work around you should not have to do since you paid for the app but plug the phone in first then restart it while plugged in. Android Auto will start up automatically and you'll have to do that every time you start the car. I've dealt with this since both apps got updated.
In theory, it sounds amazing for those who have Toyotas that don't offer AA. However, it is quite glitchy. Not only do I usually have to restart my phone for each use, but it won't connect to my car's bluetooth when I tether my phone to my Fire tablet 8. It only will connect to bluetooth audio for music or Google Maps or Waze. I would like to get bluetooth calls. I also have HFP on my rav4 2019, so I shouldn't have an issue. Please help and I will give a better rating.
Rarely if ever can I get this to connect any more. When it works, to it's incredible. For me, that's maybe a quarter of the time or less now, even though all my hardware and other software is unchanged from what used to work perfectly. I've finally given up altogether and am uninstalling this. I strongly advise not buying it, as the developer abandoned it over a year ago and has left it in beta status to prevent negative reviews without first having to leave the beta which most won't realize.
Okay so I did the research and decided to use this app. I have an unbranded Android head unit running on version 10. I had to enter developer mode on my Android phone, turn on USB debugging, turn on USB debugging in head unit reloaded, and find the correct USB port. After completing those steps I didn't have any problems using HUR. It even made my phone calls clearer. Everything works as it should. 👍
It is a little quirky to get started. Once it is configured, it has been rock solid for me. I use it daily on a pixel4a as wired headunit w/ a wireless adapter. I have had it running on a pixel2, pixel4a and pixel7. I have also used it in "self mode", wired, and wireless modes. The wired mode is very reliable, The wireless mode using the AAwireless app is pretty reliable, but the android wireless "can" take a long time to connect. Self mode seems reliable, but the display has some oddities.
This app is promising, and I wanted to love it, but it's just too buggy to work. It's more complicated and frustrating than just using my phone for music, navigation, etc. in my car. I was able to get this running on a Lenovo Tab 2 A10 tablet, with Android Auto running on my Samsung Galaxy S9+. I had to use WIFI mode because the phone does not allow WIFI direct connections. To get the app running and usable requires opening Android Auto on the phone, going into developer mode and then turning on "headunit server." Then, I have to turn off WIFI on the phone and turn on my WIFI hotspot. Then, I launch Headunit Reloaded on the tablet, wait for it to catch the WIFI hotspot connection, then hit WIFI. All of this takes 5-10 minutes. Once the app is running it is mostly smooth...until I get a phone call. Incoming calls crash the Headunit Reloaded app, at which point my phone start vibrating from the call, but there is no option to answer it on the phone, because the phone still thinks it's running an Android Auto headunit. I also have found that if I do not go through all of the same steps to get started, but in reverse, when I leave the car, it causes Headunit Reloaded to crash, and leaves my phone in Android Auto indefinitely, until I force a restart. All in all, this is just way more headache than it's worth.
Constant crashes, requires cache clearing and fiddling. The trial version was decent, but the paid one doesn't even resemble it in terms of looks and functionality. And it just doesn't work as it should. After some serious trial and error, I managed to get it to function, but only after fiddling with different connection modes and repeatedly force-stopping it and clearing the cache. Frustratingly, it's not a one-time issue – it kept crashing prompting the whole connection ordeal over again.
It does exactly what I needed to, except for some reason I can't have Bluetooth on at the same time or it will have bugs such as the song pausing after playing for just two seconds. Overall I like it just have to turn Bluetooth off which kinda sucks for making calls, as it only lets me on speakerphone instead of the car audio. Still worth 5 bucks i think; now I have Android auto on my head unit, that otherwise wasnt supported, with one minor difference on call audio.
some settings can't be adjusted. it's utilizing a volume adjustment as your vehicle speed increases, which I can't find out how to disable. I never asked for it, nor desired it. it's way too strong, so I'm now constantly adjusting the car volume to offset, which gets annoying map can't be zoomed spotify has extremely limited utility, can't pick anything else other than what's already playing. but it might just be enough to avoid upgrading my head unit, and may be useful on a motorcycle.
Update: It turns out that the cheap USB C cable I was using was causing issues. Make sure to use a good quality cable. Phone connectivity is near perfect now. I do however frequently get a message box asking me if I want to use the USB device even after checking it off and tapping OK which is strange. Old: It worked at first, but it frequently freezes and results in my entire head unit freezing, causing me to have to restart it. If this issue is fixed I will update my review to give stars.
I gave it 2 starts because while it worked it was good. It worked well for the first 30 days. It's been months now, and it's still not working. Un-installed and reinstalled, I dont know how many times. Will not work. Updated both phone and tablet (both samsung and under 3 years old) with fresh installs of HUR and recommended helper apps. Nothing, just error messages, or the app just crashes. It worked well until I was unable to request a refund from google. Save the wasted time and money.
It works, sort of. I think maybe I now know why there is no free trial period at all, not even a few days. If you've ever experienced actual Android Auto in a vehicle and that is what you want, prepare to be disappointed. I went straight to SOLO mode to maybe avoid burning up any hotspot data. When I initially got it running and brought up the Android Auto screen, everything looked like AA on my A52 5G. Then I made a call and the phone screen replaced map. That's what I didn't want.
Overall good, but I wish there was a way to lock it into landscape mode in local server mode. If I launch it is landscape mode while the phone is in portrait mode the dpi gets screwed up and the icons don't appear. I then have to force close the app and relaunch while the phone is in landscape orientation to get things to work. If that was fixed it would be a great replacement for an android auto head unit.
