When the app works, it's exactly what I need. The ONLY issue that I have with it is logging in (and that's obviously a big issue). You have to open and close the app, restart it (kill the process) multiple times, etc. It's almost like they got teenagers in a high school coding class to get this thing running. And even then, that might disrespectful to the kids.

This new update is horrible, it may look good but it's useless. It keeps crashing, first telling me that I'm going to get logged out for inactivity when I'm actively using it, making me log in again to continue using the app before finally crashing. It takes ages to load anything and half the time it has an error and can't display. Can't wait for all the bug fixes so that I can use the app again...
HEALTHEQUITY MOBILE APP SUCKS! The app is extremely slow and freezes quite often. When I add a new third party provider to log an HSA expense, it saves, but then disappears and you can't select it. I sometimes receive error messages when trying to finalize a reimbursement. Using their app should be more convenient instead of more of a hassle. Will have to resort to using my PC again, unfortunately. HealthEquity needs to hire better app developers who actually know what they're doing.
2025: they've made a lot of upgrades but the app doesnt show what the customer paid, so when i go in to request a reimbursement, i'm left guessing at what was out of pocket. If the web browser version has these details, the app should, too. that's the only reason I use the app. 2022: It used to be amazing but lately it freezes constantly. I have to use my computer.
The app incorrectly shows I can contribute up to the family maximum even though my account is set to individual. I reported this a month ago and it's still not fixed. Hope nobody gets screwed on their taxes when they go over the max. Edit: It's been several more months and this potentially major (and easy to fix) issue still hasn't been addressed. Down to 1 star we go.
I can't even get past the 2 step-verification, now what?? I entered the verification code, entered my phone number and there's no where else to go. No save, no submit, no update button. So I'm stuck in this endless loop. Not very promising for the first day using this app. All I need to do is log in so they can send me a card!!
Very buggy app. After entering all my data for a reimbursement the app gave a generic error message and hung. All my data was lost. I tried again a week later and got a different error and again lost data and had to reenter. This is on a new phone running the latest app version and Android. I have used hundreds of other apps and this is one of the worst experiences I've seen. I am an IT professional and have extensive computer experience. This app was obviously not tested properly.
Horrible, slow and unusable! The app takes forever to load or open, sometimes doesn't open at all. Every single action you take in the app takes minutes to load. If you switch to another app just to obtain information go back to it or have to wait for the app to load all over again and in some cases it never does so it keeps force closing. The app is complete garbage and it's a disgrace. No reason to use this thing. Just use the website instead. It's so much faster and reliable.
This app hasn't worked properly the past 4 or so years I've used it. Each menu selection takes about 20 - 30 seconds to process during which the program freezes. It crashes about 25% of the time while frozen. They've updated the aesthetics of the app a few times, but the performance has not improved one bit. Testing done on multiple android devices over the years. Trash app, don't bother. Use the desktop or call in.
Interface in new version is horrible. It freezes so I can't move around, text fields are cut off making it hard to read. Today I tried to upload a receipt, but I couldn't scroll over to the icon/link to that. I was able to select the link, it just happened to be the right one....I could only see a portion of it. The original version worked well. less important, but a predictor of what was to come- the text on the app icon is incredibly fuzzy.
