A niche customer base leads to a smaller pool from which to fund operating costs. This in turn leads to higher fees and general dissatisfaction. Compound this with the usual social/dating app frustrations, and you get something that falls frustratingly short of what is needed for some. Best of luck to the rest of you. I'm checking out, just as soon as I find a strong enough rope...
Reviews for Hiki: Autism ADHD & ND Dating
Major issues with glitches. Constantly freezes and major delays. And if you click like or pass on someone and it freezes you have to wait because if you tap it more than once it will either like or pass on the next person. Just took me a week to access the chats and only got to see a few of them before it started acting up again making it look like I was ghosting people. Also frequently get guys ignoring that I'm just looking for friends or connections to those like me.
I have had a great experience on Hiki! This is an excellent social media app for posting, commenting, etc. However, it's not so great for matching, and forming groups is difficult (finding existing ones, near impossible). Hiki is great for connecting with people in a general way, but don't get your hopes too high about finding people to meet in real life. You're better off treating it as Neurodivergent Facebook.
It's really great to find a space for other people like me. Unfortunately, the app doesn't seem to recognize that a lot of people on the spectrum are also underemployed and unable to afford a subscription. But for just basic interaction, it's been nice. Once my trial ends, I'll still enjoy checking the feed and looking for kindred spirits.
This app is trash. it's a great idea, but customer support are appalling. I subscribed (which is extremely expensive, twice the price of the other major dating app we all know of), and when cycling through likes it proceeda to just repeat the same. I didn't get offered the free 7 day trial either I was billed immediately. Will be contacting Google Support over this. Appalled to not have response from their "help" team. Avoid if you want a functional app.
Features available for free are sort of like a FB type posting app, and you can interact in post comments. However, you must pay to use basic people finding features, like browsing users *near you* or seeing who liked your profile. It's 43.99/month! Whoever set that needs to put down what they're smoking, frankly. I'm privileged in that I can hold down a full time, skilled profession job. Even I can't afford that expense for an app I would only use casually. It's more than my cell phone!
Update, after several days of trying and only getting the code 30 minutes after it expired, I was finally able to log back in. Not sure what happened, but as of today when I clicked on the app it would go through it's standard design when you first go into the app then it would freeze at a white screen. Un-installed and re-installed and now it won't send me a text so I can log back into my account so I've been completely locked out from the app.
I like the idea of the app. But, I think that the payment system takes advantage of Neuro Divergent people. I have ADHD, I want to look at a lot of profiles all at once. But you only get 5 likes a day. Once the likes are used up you can't look at profiles until the next day. The premium subscription price is very high. It's a good idea, but the it feels like the way they make money seems to takes advantage of the people it claims to serve.
This is a really good idea, but it's even worse than mainstream dating apps when it comes to monetization. I understand it has to make profits from a smaller user base, but the premium price is absurd, and, as with most dating apps, your chance of finding good connections is heavily reduced to nonexistent without it. I'll happily update this review if/when Hiki doesn't feel like every other dating app on the market.
Definitely not worth it for the dating. And the monthly subscription is incredibly high. I just use it for the community feed, which is set up similar to Facebook with more category options. It's my favorite part of the app and if it was marketed for that, I'd double my stars. But they advertise it as a dating app and then price it out of reach for the vast majority of their market. You can do very, very limited things for free on the dating side of it. So I give it 2 stars based on that.
